Abstract

Aim of study: To evaluate some fibrosis markers such as vitronectin, serum vitronectin receptor (VNR) and the amino terminal propeptide of type III procollagen (P-III-P) in the sera of liver cirrhosis patients and to monitor the behavior of these markers in disease progression. Material and Methods: About (60) volunteer participated in current study; 30 patients and 30 patients. The patients were divided according to severity of the disease by Child-Pugh Score to three classes: (10) patients class A, (10) class B patients and (10) class C. Procollagen III peptide, serum vitronectin and vitronectin receptor were measured in serum by ELISA. Results: A Significant increases were found in serum vitronectin, receptor and sP-III-P in all patients' sub-groups when compared to control. VNR seems to detect early liver cirrhosis and distinguish between patients (A and B classes) and advanced disease with cirrhosis. Conclusion: According to our data, the area under curve of serum VNR is greater than vitronectin and Sp-III-P so it can be act as a marker of liver cirrhosis and also could be used to monitor the severity of disease.

Abstract

As the bioavailability of drugs from liquid orals mainly depends on their solubility in the given solvent system, it is considered as one of the important parameters for assessing the absorption of drugs into the systemic circulation. Because of this, lot of emphasis has been given to the various factors affecting the solubility of drugs. One among these factors is the physico-chemical properties of the solvent. In this context, the present review article details various physico-chemical properties of the solvent that can influence the solubility of drugs and thereby affecting their bioavailability. Study of these factors helps a researcher in the selection of a solvent system with an optimal solubility of the drug that can lead to an improved bioavailability. Keywords: Solubility, Physico-chemical properties of solvent.

Abstract

Terminalia tomentosa bark. Belongs to the family Combretaceae. Bark is astringent and useful in the treatment of ulcers, vata, fractures, hemorrhages, bronchitis and diarrhea. This study establish the anti-inflammatory activity of ethanolic (TEA) and aqueous (TEW) of T. tormentors aback extracts in in-vitro methods by Inhibition protein denaturation (BSA),Inhibition of Egg Albumin denaturationand The human HRBC membrane stabilization method., alcoholic and aqueous extracts exhibited significant protein denaturation inhibition in egg albumin assay with IC50 values TEA113µg/mL, TEW 112.67µg/mL in comparison with Standard (Diclofenac sodium) 236.7µg/ml. In bovine serum albumin denaturation assay with IC50 values TEA 16.91µg/mL and TEW 17.67µg/mL respectively when compared with standard (Diclofenac sodium) 67.21µg/mL. Both alcoholic and aqueous extracts were shown to have membrane stabilization properties with the IC50 values TEA 92.95µg/mL, TEW 37.68µg/mL respectively, in comparison with standard (Diclofenac sodium) 47.48µg/mLTo conclude, this study shows that the T. tormentors, possess significant anti-inflammatory activity. Keywords: Terminalia tomentosa, Anti-inflammatory, Combretaceae, HRBC, Egg albumin Protein denaturation.

Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the photochemical constituents and possible microbicidal potential of ethanol and aqueous extract of Acalyphaindica leaf extract on various gut pathogens. Shade dried leaves of Acalyphaindicawere extracted with solvents of increasing polarity. In vitro anti microbial activity of the water and alcoholic extracts of A. indica was performed by agar punch well diffusion method on selected gut pathogens. Photochemical study of the extracts of A. indicareveals the presence of phytoconstituents like alkaloids, phytosterols, carbohydrates and gums and mucilage’s. Both the aqueous and ethanol extracts showed good to moderate activity against Plesiomonasshigelloide, Shigellaflexineri, Klebsiella pneumonia, Vibrio cholera and Staphylococcus aureus. From the about results we conclude that, the traditionally used medicinal plant A.indica can be useful against the disease causing gut pathogens Keywords: Antimicrobial activity, Acalyphaindica, Gut pathogens, Agar diffusion method, Photochemical screening.

Abstract

The western Ghats of India present Pharmacognosists and botanist a rich source of biological diversity to explore their unearthed potential. V. indica, one among the thousands of such plant growing in the southern states of India especially in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, at about 750 m altitude is a slow growing plant of Dipterocarpaceae family. The present study was aimed to investigate the anticancer potential of stem bark of Vateria indica by trypan blue exclusion method and Sulphorhodamine B assay against C6 and EAC cell lines respectively. From the studies it was found that the acetone fraction of V. indica demonstrated high activity whereas ethanolic and petroleum fraction were moderately active against C6 cell lines respectively. It was also observed that the ethanolic and ethyl acetate fraction of V. indica were highly active whereas petroleum ether extract was moderately active against EAC cell lines. Keywords: Vateria indica, Anticancer potential, SRB assay.

Abstract

Introduction Psychoanalysis is one of the therapeutic interventions chosen when therapies need to probe in to patients’ unconscious aspects rooted in the past.  Malan’s short-term dynamic psychotherapy is a one of the types of brief psycho dynamic therapy useful in corrective emotional experiences of patients that is dynamically held with significant figures of the past. The efficacy of this therapy is studied in the current study. The selected cases of marital disharmony affected by social, emotional and sexual parameters are successfully intervened by brief psychoanalysis. The analytical probe focused on defense mechanism involved in underlying sufferings. The objective of the study is to assess the interventional successes of short-term dynamic psychotherapy in couple problems in marriage. Methods This is a case study research design that has been used to investigating of the unconscious roots of marital disturbances using short term dynamic psychotherapy. The study samples of patient couples were studied during their therapeutic intervention with consent and collected data of treatment was filed. These case reports from different institutions and field work services in India. Specifically, couple patient underwent short term dynamic psychotherapy from the 2007-2014. Interpretation of defenses was used to gain insight. The interview and free-association method was used in the study in the analysis and structuring the defense of patient. Of the 100 case studies, 40(40%) of them were intervened using short-term dynamic psychotherapy. Other cases (60%) were not indicative for short-term dynamic psychotherapy. The data was statistically analyzed by using Chi-square with Yates's correction test for association. The statistical significance was set at 5% level of significance (P<0.05). Result this result shows the fruitfulness of Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy in the Intervention of Marital Disturbances. More than 50% of sample population found to be highly satisfied and none patient couple was dissatisfied that shows the effective ness of this intervention. Keywords: Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, Defense Analysis, Patient Couples, Marital Therapy.
