Abstract

With a view to reducing the acidic effect of valproic acid, its carboxylic group has been recoated to produce 5-membered and 6-membered heterocyclic rings. Heterocyclic derivative as -Thiadiazole, Imidazole, -Oxazine, Quinazoline, Pyrazole and Oxadiazole. Derivatives of valproic acid were prepared by cyclization under different reaction states to produce a good yield. The microbial inhibitory effect of these compounds was assessed in vitro against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as tested against two strains of bacteria (Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus compared with starting material. Compounds (4, 5, 8) showed the highest antibacterial as well as antifungal activities. All compounds have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR and C.H.N analysis. Keywords: Valproic acid, Thiadiazole, Imidazole,-oxazine, Quinazoline, Pyrazole, Oxadiazole, biologically active compounds.

Abstract

In this study, the photo-thermal dealing of cancer with Se nanoparticles is studied. This processes for tissue under the influence of heat by a laser source with dose injection the selenium nanoparticles on the affected area. The bio-heat equation is solved by numerical simulation methods. Results are summarized in the effect on the increase of temperature at different time stages. These results appeared that the depth diffusion increasing heat raising during the increasing the time duration of exposure. Thus, it concludes the peak value of depth with controlled temperature. Keywords: Selenium nanoparticles; Heat raising; Medical technique.

Abstract

Ultrasound has recently been applied to evaluate the possible effect on color and flavor extraction at different stages of the winemaking process. Red color and aromatic compounds are localized in the skin cells and their release is facilitated by mechanical actions, disruption of tissues and cells, temperature and alcohol. Red dragon fruit has various nutrients, vitamins and minerals and medicinal values. Our present research focused on the effect of power and time of ultrasound as pretreatment maceration in red dragon fruit winemaing. Results revealed that using ultrasound power 270 w in 20 minutes as a pre-treatment on crushed red dragon fruit for the extraction of polyphenol, aromas. The application of ultrasounds allowed a significant reduction of the maceration duration and to get high-quality wine with high alcohol content, total phenolic, and good sensory characteristics. Keywords: Red dragon fruit, Ultrasound, Maceration, Power, Duration, Winemaking.

Abstract

In this research it has been constructed the ground-state phase diagram of a mixed spin-3/2 and spin-7/2 Blume-Capel Ising system on a square lattice in theplane. Magnetic phase transitions, in a molecular based magnet, are tested using mean field method (MFM). The equilibrium magnetizations can be achieved by minimizing the free energy which is vital for locating and spin compensation points as well. By utilizing mean field theory (MFT) on principles of Bogoliubov inequality of the free energy, it has been investigated the spin compensation phenomena. In particular, characteristic ferrimagnetic features have been shown depending on the negative values of the different single-ion anisotropies, acting on the atoms and atoms, respectively. Keywords: Blume-Capel Ising model; Ground-state phase diagram; Compensation temperature; Magnetic free energy.

Abstract

A total 248 clinical samples of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were collected from meningitis patients, for the period of July to October 2018 from the Child Protection Teaching Hospital in the Medical City Compound in Baghdad. All isolates were identification depending on macroscopic, microscopic, biochemical tests and definite with Vitek-2 compact system. The results showed a growth in 42 samples.  Sixteen isolates of Staphylococcus spp. were obtained from samples .The number of the percentage of isolates according to species as follow: 7/16) 44%) of S. epidermidis, 3/16 (19%) of S. hominis, 3/16)19%) of S. haemolyticus, 2/16 (12%) of S. aureus, 1/16 (6%) of S.warneri. The ability of isolates on adhesion were studied and the results showed the use polystyrene plates, that the number of adherent cells of S. epidermidis was 230 cells / field, S. hominis was 62 cells / fields, whereas S. aureus was 3 cells / field, while in S. haemolyticus >300 cells / field, finally the number of cells in each field of S.warneri reached 40 cells / field.  In use epithelial cells (Vero cell line), the results of our current study we observed that, the number of all Staphylococcus spp. in zero dilution were >300 cfu. and  S. epidermidis, S .hominis, S. aureus, S. haemolyticus , S. warneri were (85,120,>300 , ,>300  ,>300 )cfu respectively   at 1:10 dilution, while  at the dilution 1:100 the number were(9,30, >300, >300 ,292)cfu respectively. Keywords: Staphylococcus spp., Meningitis, Adhesion.

Abstract

A Nanocomposite film consisting of Cr2O3 and polythiophene (PT), has been successfully fabricated on a stainless steel substrate (SS) by a simply electrochemical deposition method. The fabrication mechanisms are based on electrolytic deposition ELD method of Cr2O3 thin film and electropolymerization deposition of PT. The papered Cr2O3 and PT/Cr2O3 were characterized by FT-IR, FESEM, TEM, XRD, and Raman spectra. Electrochemical degradation of Reactive Blue 4 (RB4) was studied by Cr2O3 and PT/Cr2O3 coated anodes in the existence of sodium chloride as a supporting electrolyte to investigate the effect of polythiophene /Cr2O3 Nano composite coating. The color removal efficiencies were 51.7% and 92 % respectively for above anodes, after 25 minutes of electrolysis at applied potential 3V.Keywords: Nanocomposite, Electrolytic deposition, Electrodegradation.

Abstract

Objective: The present study includes indirect analytical method for the determination of the drug desferal (DSFM) in some pharmaceutical dosages using molecular absorption. DSFM was usually used for treating such diseases like Thalasemia and Alzheimer. Methods: The proposed method is built on reaction between DSFM and cerium (IV) ion to forms an orange chelate complex (λ max = 443 nm) at pH 6. Results: The optimal experimental condition for the chelate formation: pH=6; concentration of Ce(IV) (30 mg L-1); maximum reaction time (10 min.); lmax=443 nm; metal -to- ligand (1:1) ratio.  Analytical figures of merits: linear dynamic range (1-110) mg L-1; r = 0.9996, S = 0.9996 mg.cm-2), D.L (0.167) mg L-1; Erel. % 1.26; recovery% 100.2; RSD% 1.460.Conclusion: The developed method was successfully applied to the estimate of DSFM in pharmaceutical samples. Keywords: Desferal, Spectrophotometric, Cerium sulfate tetrahydrate, Pharmaceutical dosages.
