Abstract

This study investigated staphylococcus aureus in many of the infected clinical samples and their resistance to antibiotics .The study included two mainaxes, the first axis is diagnosis of bacterial isolates according to approved diagnostic systems, the second axis is determine the resistance and sensitivity of the antibiotic.  A total of 250 clinical samples were collected from several places of the body from Al-Hakim General Hospital and Al-Sadr city medical in Al-Najaf city during the period from November 2018-Febray 2019. Samples were under study (ear, eye, wound, urine, tonsils, diabetic foot and aspiration fluid) for both sexes and different age group. The results of the bacterial diagnosis showed that sample was infected with staphylococcus aureus (20 isolated from diabetic foot, 10 isolated from ear ,10 isolated from urine , 15 isolated from wound, 15 isolated from aspiration fluid),depending on characters of culture media, Gram stain, biochemical test and Vitek-2 for identification . The study also examined the sensitive test by testing disk diffusion depending on the locations of the disease. Isolated from ear, wound, diabetic foot, aspiration fluid were resistance to penicillin family. While isolated from urine were variable to it family. All isolated were sensitive to vancomycin, teicoplanin, impenem, meropenam. All isolated were sensitive to amikacin, refampine, except isolates from diabetic foot were resistant to it. Cefidinr more kind of cephalosporin gives sensitivity to study isolated. Quinolones, macrolides, aminoglycoside were variable depending on location of the disease.Keywords: S. aureus, Sensitivity

Abstract

Zinc is regarded as a necessary mineral for cell division and the production of DNA and protein; furthermore, such mineral has a main role in alleviating cardiovascular diseases and may have protective effect in coronary artery disease. Mitoxantrone is an anthracenedione antineoplastic agent used in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, breast and prostate cancer; moreover, such drug can induce cardio toxicity in up to 18% of treated patients which is mainly characterized by the development of left ventricular dysfunction, which is manifested as decreased left ventricular ejection fraction and congestive heart failure. Objective: This study is designed to investigate the impacts of graded doses of zinc sulphate on mitoxantrone-induced cardio toxicity in rats via exploring the role of apoptosis in this toxic effect. Methods: Forty-eight adult rats of both sexes were utilized in this study; the animals were randomly divided into six groups of 8 animals each. Group I: distilled water (negative control). Group II: orally-administered zinc sulfate (15mg/kg/day) Group III: orally-administered zinc sulfate (30mg/kg/day).Group IV: Intraperitoneally injected with a mitoxantrone at a dose (2.5 mg/kg) to reach a total cumulative dose of 7.5 mg/kg on day 20. Group V: Orally-administered zinc sulfate at a dose (15mg/kg/day) with an intraperitoneal injection of mitoxantrone at a dose (2.5 mg/kg) was administered to reach the total cumulative dose of 7.5 mg/kg on day 20.Group VI: Orally-administered zinc sulfate at a dose (30 mg/kg/day) with an intraperitoneal injection of mitoxantrone at a dose (2.5 mg/kg) to reach total the cumulative dose of 7.5 mg/kg on day 20. Forty-eight hrs after the end of treatment duration (i.e. at day 22nd), each animal was euthanized by diethyl ether and ketamine, and then after cervical dislocation, the heart of each animal was excised for homogenate preparation to estimate the activity level of caspase-3 enzyme and to detect DNA fragmentation by the utilization of terminaldeoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay. Results: Oral administration of zinc sulfate [(15mg/kg/day with total cumulative dose (7.5 mg/kg) of mitoxantrone] (Group V) resulted in non-significant (P>0.05) difference in caspase-3 level in the cardiac tissue homogenate compared to the corresponding  levels in group of rats intraperitoneally injected with total cumulative dose of 7.5 mg/kg of mitoxantrone (Group IV). In contrast, there were significant reduction (P<0.05) incaspase-3 level in the cardiac tissue homogenate of rats orally-administered zinc sulfate [(30 mg/kg/day) with total cumulative dose (7.5mg/kg) of mitoxantrone] (Group VI) compared to the corresponding levels in group of rats intraperitoneally-injected with total cumulative dose of 7.5mg/kg of mitoxantrone (Group IV). In addition, there was an improvement in the immunohistochemistry of rats’ heart in Group VI; where, numbers of the apoptotic cells were reduced compared to Group IV. Conclusion: Zinc sulfate at a dose (30 mg/kg/day) inhibits mitoxantrone-triggered cardiomyocyte apoptosis.Keywords: Mitoxantrone, Cardiotoxicity, Zinc sulfate, TUNEL-assay, Caspase-3.

Abstract

The present study included details of the anatomical properties of the vegetable parts of the stem, the cultured leaf in Iraq for some species of Tamarindus indica. The study examined the stomata index and the rate of both the length and width of the complex stomata and the thickness of the cuticle, the parenchymal and sclerenchymal tissue, phloem and xylem. It was taken the parts mentioned and measured after the treatment of the plant with citric acid and measured for the treated species with citric acid and untreated. The study showed that there is a clear variation in the properties above.

Abstract

Histological structure of testes in alloxan-induced diabetic rats was investigated after daily oral administration of (Cyperus rotundus) tuber aqueous extract for one month. Therty were divided into 5experimental groups, each group contain 6 adultmale albino rats weighing 150-200 g. Testes samples were obtained and processed for microscopic evaluation after staining the prepared sections with both Heamatoxylin and Eosin. There was a found severe histopatholoigical changes belong to rats injected with alloxan showing seminiferous tubules completely destroyed and nucleus going out from the testis, also presence many bleeding area, absence the connective tissue and leydig cell while showed No histological changes were found in the examined organs belong to rats treated with Extract of Cyperus rotundus.Keyword: Diabetes mellitus, Testis, male reproductive system, MSD, Cyperus rotundus, Glimepiride.

Abstract

Background: Anti-Mullerian hormone is considered as a marker with has an important function in ovarian folliculogenesis besides the steroidogenesis. Anti-mullerian hormone with ovarian stimulation may guide the treatment plan in infertility. Objective:  To evaluate the anti-Mullerian hormone role in identification and diagnosis of polycystic ovarian syndrome phenotypes in Iraqi population. Patients and Methods: This retrospective cohort study was carried at Al-Yarmuk Teaching Hospital in Baghdad from the 1st January 2016 to the 1st of December 2018. Ninety-nine women were enrolled in the study. Anti-Mullerian hormone was obtained from those women, those who had high AMH above 5 ng/ml were enrolled in the study, then they classified based on the level of AMH into three groups: First group, their AMH 5-10 ng/ml, the second group, the AMH level was 10-14 ng/ml, the third group their AMH was more than 14 ng /ml. Then the comparison between these groups was done according to their polycystic ovary syndrome phenotype, and their endocrine parameters. Results: The percentages of Hyperandrogenimia were not statistically significant except for that between group 3 and 2 (78.8% vs. 50% respectively; the P value was= 0.014). The polycystic ovaries by ultrasound was significantly higher in group 3 (as the P value was= 0.001). PCOS diagnosis was significantly more prevalent in group 2 (91.2%) and group 3 (100%) in comparison with group 1 (50%). The difference  was statistically significant for women with polycystic ovary syndrome who had  regular period and the percentages were (65.6% vs. 26.5% vs. 3% for group 1 vs. 2 and 3 respectively )while there was a significant higher percentages for  oligomenorrrhea in group 2 (67.6%) ,and group 1 (31.3%), Whereas proportion of amenorrhea was significantly higher  in group 2 (5.9%) , and group 3 (24.2%) in comparisons to  group 1 (3.1%). Conclusion: Antimullerian hormone levels might be used for polycystic ovary syndrome diagnosis and determine its severity. The majority of women with Antimullerian hormone >10 ng/mL will have severe type of PCOS.Keywords: (PCOS), Antimullerian hormone, Polycystic phenotype.

Abstract

In Vietnam, Chrysanthemum indicum has been used as an herb. Its flower has a strong aroma. Chrysanthemum indicum L. flower has a bright yellow color and various functional active compounds. However it’s easily perishable in blooming season, it’s necessary to to dry fresh Chrysanthemum indicum L. flower to extend its shelf‐life for long-term use. Objective of this study penetrated on the effectiveness of various processing variables such as blanching by steaming; infrared drying power, temperature and time on total phenolic, flavonoid, carotenoid and sensory score of dried herbal tea from Chrysanthemum indicum flowers by the infrared irradiation. Our results showed that these flowers should be blanched by steaming within 60s and then being dried at power 200 W, temperature 60oC with air velocity 1.5 m/s in the infrared dryer. From this approach, major phytochemical components such as total phenolic, flavonoid, carotenoid in the dried Chrysanthemum indicum flower could be maintained. Owing to the benefits of the infrared irradiation, it would be an innovative solution for blanching and drying to preserve utmost valuable elements inside as well as good appearance outside of dried Chrysanthemum indicum L. flower.Keywords: Chrysanthemum indicum, Steaming, Drying, Infrared irradiation, Phenolic, flavonoid, Carotenoid.

Abstract

Background: Burn injuries behold one of the most devastating injuries among people for all age in the worldwide leading to causes premature mortality and with the disability. Materials and Method: An Analytical and Descriptive Study Conducted in order to identify bacterial and associated bacterial types to burn exposure types and with a microbial location among 100 patients who were burned and who arrived at AL-Husseini Hospital Teaching/ Burn Department) were taken by swabs, equipment, nurse, and environment of hospital. Data was collected and analyzed through a descriptive and inferential statistics approach. Results: Most of the bacteria that transmitted to the burned patients were (Staphylococcus aureus) which causes burn nosocomial infections was isolated commonly from hands of nurses and equipment of patients. Patients were exposed significantly to the types of bacterial infection when the value of p detection <0.01. Also, the types of bacterial infection is associated with artificial to a large extent the location of bacteria isolated as the value of p <0.01. Conclusion: The study concluded that Staphylococcus aureus skin more bacteria in the hospital environment and medical staff, which can be infected with the patient, especially a patient who is under fire. Bacterial infections are associated with types of burns. Bacterial infection is also dependent on microbial infection. Confirmed our findings need for careful cleansing of patients and their surroundings.Keywords: Determination, Nosiocomial Infections, Burned Patients.

Abstract

The studies discuss how the higher serum sodium by high sodium dietary intake effect on management & control of primary hypertension. By take a random 150 patients labeled as primary hypertension with the same medication sources from ministry of health (MOH) in east capital Baghdad. And we neglect the other patients they have other causes that lead to higher blood pressure by measure the serum sodium and questionnaire. The result show there is a higher percent have uncontrolled HTN even take the medications cause of high sodium daily dietary intake reach to 32% in adhamiah, 58% in Al - Saader city, 44% in Al-zaafaraniah.   Keywords: HTN (hypertension), PHCC (primary health care center), serum sodium level.

Abstract

Objective: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, comprising 18% of all female cancers, and worldwide, breast cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer mortality. The study was designed to determine and compare the levels of phospholipase D1 (PLD1) and choline kinase alpha (CHKAα) enzymes in Breast cancer patients and apparently healthy individuals.  Material and Methods: Blood phospholipase D1 (PLD1) and choline kinase alpha (CHKAα) enzymes levels were determined in 85 breast cancer patients and 55 apparently healthy subjects. Histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis done for (50) cases (out of those 85 breast cancer patients), tissue samples are collected from patients with breast cancer who undergoing surgical resection (mastectomy) and normal breast tissues: (control group, which include normal breast tissue from patients with benign lesions, and normal breast tissue from the same women with breast cancer). Results: The levels of serum phospholipase D1 (PLD1) and choline kinase alpha (CHKAα) enzymes were showing significant increase in breast cancer patients as compared to control group (P ≤ 0.05). We found that 82% of breast cancer biopsies were phospholipase D1 positive. There was no expression of phospholipase D1   in all normal breast tissues. Sixty-seven percent of breast cancer biopsies were choline kinase alpha positive. There was no expression of choline kinase alpha in all normal breast tissues. Conclusion: In Breast cancer patients, we found that there is an increase in (PLD1) and (CHKAα) enzymes level both in serum and malignant tissue, and this suggests that the overexpression of PLD1 and CHKAα may play an important role in the human breast tumorigenesis and they are useful markers for breast cancer.Keywords: Breast cancer, Phospholipids, Phospholipase D1 (PLD1), Choline kinase alpha (CHKAα).

Abstract

The essential oil extracted from air-dried Thyme leaves (Thyme vulgaris) and Clove buds (Eugenia caryophyllata) by distillation method. The results showed lowest MICs value when exposure to natural bioactive products and demonstrated high activity againstMRSA isolates. The MICs value of Thyme and Clove EOs and the standards (thymol and eugenol) were ranged from (0.195-0.39) μg/ml, (0.39-0.78) μg/ml and (0.097-0.048) μg/ml respectively, to enhance microdilution method described in our study improved through adding redox indicator which was Resazurin dye.Keywords: Clove Essential Oil; Inhibitors; Staphylococcus aureus.
