Abstract

The focus of preparing and applying distinctive fluorescent chemosensors and samples can be split into two remarkable meetings. The first arrangement with the Schiff base-determined fluorescent chemosensors, using metal cation detection and the subsequent collection, concerns the improvement of the new Ru (II) ppy luminescent D.N.A atomic tests. Particles that have their structure and capacity as chemosensors at the top of the priority list (based on the previous one). Only compounds fitted with adequate receptors, specifically intended for their target visitors and coupled with appropriate fluorochromes so far as synthetic sensing can be efficiently performed by conceivable photophysical processes.

Abstract

Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the role of phytosterol fraction of Chenopodium murale in experimentally induced hypertrophic scar in rabbits. Methods: Surgical wound was performed on day 1 with an 8‑mm biopsy punch four wounds were created on the ventral surface of the rabbit ear (in vivo) down to cartilage. Triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) and phytosterol extracts of Chenopodium murale are administered topically to established scars on day 31. The outcome measures include the study of histopathology of skin section, transforming growth factor beta-1(TGF-β1) level and collagen III alpha in skin tissue. Results: The treatment groups produced high significant reduction in inflammatory scores, height, index of scar and in immunological scores of TGFβ1 and scores of collagen III in comparison with induced hypertrophic scar group (P≤0.001). Significant reduction was observed also in fibroblast count as compared with induced hypertrophic scar control group (P<0.05).Conclusion. Phytosterol extract of Chenopodium murale was effective in treatment of induced hypertrophic scar through its ability to produce reduction in inflammation, fibroblast count; height and thickness of hypertrophic scar in addition to decrease in immunological scores and the results were nearly comparable to that of topical triamcinolone acetonide.Keywords: Chenopodium murale; Rabbits; Topical phytosterol.

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of artemisinin isolated from Artemisia annua terpenes fraction in atopic dermatitis mice model. Methods: This research is a randomized, prospective, placebo and controlled animal study. Thirty two male, albino mice included in this study. The mice were randomly divided into four groups (Each group eight). Group I without treatment (Healthy). Group II only the inducer Phthalic anhydride given. Groups II, III, and IV subjected to 5% phthalic anhydride solution and after three hours of phthalic anhydride application, treatment is used for group III (Tacrolimus 0.03% ointment) , and group IV (Artemisinin 175mg/kg). Artemisinin was extracted from Artemisia annua and isolated by preparative high pressure liquid chromatography. Measurement of serum interleukin 13, interleukin 4, and immunoglobulin E and histopathology were done. Results: When healthy group is compared to atopic dermatitis induced non-treated group, a significant increase (P value ≤ 0.05) in serum IL-13 and IL-4 were found, while high significant increase (P value ≤ 0.001) in serum IgE was recorded. Regarding Histopathology score, high significant decrease in epidermal thickness, hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis, erosion, inflammation and edema after 4 weeks of starting treatment between Tacrolimus and atopic dermatitis induced non-treated groups. When artemisinin and atopic dermatitis induced non-treated groups were compared, a significant decrease was found in serum IgE. Conclusion: Artemisia annua artemisinin has an effect on phthalic anhydride induced atopic dermatitis albino mice like model.Keywords: Atopic dermatitis, Artemisia annua, Artemisinin.

Abstract

Bacterial cellulose has unique physical and mechanical structural properties. Which qualifies it for use in many industrial, medical and other applications? It is more effective in putting out wounds or burns as it used as a catch to take advantage of one of its advantages, which is its ability to retain fluids for longer due to its low degree of crystallization. Where a study carried out for the preparation of Nano silver cellulose compound of two methods, namely thermal reduction and Electrical mothed. An FT-IR spectrum analysis was s and to know the interconnection between silver Nano particles with bacterial cellulose. The size of the particles was estimated silver nanoparticles of (34.6-35.0) nm respectively for both methods with the AFM technique and to ensure the occurrence of actual adsorption with UV-Vis, SEM and EDX technology, while the x-ray technology showed the shape of silver Nano particles cube and at a volume rate of (4.49, 10.06) nm respectively for both methods and was studied  Biological efficacy towards the bacteria of wounds and burns where the results of both methods showed a strong effect to inhibit and stop these bacteria, Finally, compare it to both methods in terms of advantages and disadvantages in terms of the purity of the output was the best but the rate of molecular size and biological effectiveness and time of thermal reduction is the best.Keywords: Bacterial cellulose; Silver nanoparticles; Composites; Antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Introduction: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) was a major cause of morbidity and mortality in infants. ARI was always ranked first of the 10 most diseases in Indonesia. To be able to overcome the spread of ARI, it was necessary to know the risk factors for ARI. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of predisposing factors (education, family income, knowledge, and attitudes), supporting factors (use of health care facilities, ventilation, presence of smokers in the house), driving factors (the role of health workers) with the risk of ARI events recurrent pneumonia in infants. Methods: This type of research was descriptive analysis with a cross-sectional approach. Data collection was done by questionnaire. The population was parents of children under five in the working area. This study used purposive sampling, with a sample of 100 respondents. Data analysis was done by univariate, bivariate with chi-square test and odds ratio. Results: The results showed that the incidence of recurrent Non Pneumonia ARI in toddlers had a significant relationship with knowledge (p-value = 0.017; OR = 0.27, attitude (p-value = 0.003; OR = 0.27), use of health care facilities ( p-value = 0.371; OR = 0.58), ventilation (p-value = 0.028; OR = 0.29), smokers in the house (p-value = 0,000; OR = 7.56), the role of health workers (p-value = 0,000; OR = 0.17). Conclusion: Recommendations need further research to develop a model of prevention of recurrent Non-Pneumonia ARI in infants according to the risk factors of the incident found so that it can.Keywords: Acute Respiratory Infection, Infants, Risk factor.

Abstract

Background: Superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS) is a collection of symptoms and signs due to obstruction in the superior vena cava (SVC). More than 90% of SVCS cases are caused by malignancy (lung, breast, intra-mediastinal organs) and vascular reconstruction surgery is the last resort in the management of SVCS. Decompression surgery still can be performed on all types of tumours. These case series aim to elaborate on the outcome of the jugulo-atrial bypass procedure in malignant mediastinal tumour with SVCS at Sanglah General Hospital, Bali, Indonesia. Case Description: In Case 1, Male 31-year-old, has chief complaint shortness of breathing accompanied by swelling on face, neck, and chest that has become worse since one month prior to admitted to the Sanglah General Hospital. A similar clinical finding was also found in Case 2, Male 53-year-old, with a productive dry cough and coughing up blood for more than two months and revealed an anterior mediastinal mass on CT-Scan. However, in Case 3 Male 68-year-old, his shortness of breath began after the history of lump on neck since 3 years ago. He was also diagnosed with the antiphospholipid syndrome and received oral anticoagulant therapy for 17 months. The sagittal, coronal, and axial view of chest CT scan with contrast showed an apparent demarcated heterogeneous mass in the anterior mediastinum with central necrosis. The calcification component was also found as a resulted in vena cava superior suppression on each case. The operative procedure was a median sternotomy with jugulo-atrial bypass procedure and followed by chemotherapy. The complete resolution of the anterior mediastinal mass as well as the improvement of clinical outcome were exhibited few weeks after treatment. Conclusion: Two of the three cases of malignant mediastinal tumour have been performed jugulo-atrial bypass surgery to reduce SVCS. From the histopathological examination, these three cases with SVCS were malignant mediastinal tumour. Jugulo-atrial bypass procedure was proven to reduce complaints of shortness of breath and swelling post-surgery. Keywords : SVCS, Malignant Mediastinal Tumor, Jugulo-Atrial By-Pass.

Abstract

The aromatic Schiff base with azo linkage (CHMB) has been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques. The compound (CHMB) has been evaluated as carbon steel corrosion inhibitor at different concentrations (0.1, 0.5, 1 and 5 mM) and different temperatures (298-318 K). The corrosion inhibition efficiency was studied by Potentiodynamic polarization. The effects of concentration and temperature on the inhibition efficiency were studied by Potentiodynamic polarization measurements, the results showed that increasing concentration of (CHMB) increases the inhibition efficiency while increasing the temperature decreases it, the highest corrosion inhibition efficiency, 93.58% was recorded with 5 mM of CHMB at 298 K in 1 M HCl. The adsorption process was found to obey Langmuir isotherm, and the adsorption thermodynamic parameters were studied.Keywords: Carbon steel, Corrosion inhibitors, Azo, Schiff base, Organic inhibitors.

Abstract

III, IV, V and Ib genotypes in the Malay ethnic group and to relate their presence to chronic periodontitis. Design: A total of 30 Malay subjects (15 periodontitis and 15 periodontally healthy subjects) aged 25 years and above were selected. Clinical periodontal parameters were recorded for each subject. Subgingival plaque samples were collected from the deep pockets ≥5mm in periodontitis subjects and from subgingival areas in healthy subjects. Presence of P. gingivalis fimA types I, II, III, IV, V and Ib genotypes were identified by polymerase chain reaction followed by agarose gel electrophoresis.  Results: P. gingivalis was more prevalent in periodontitis subjects (53.33%) as compared to periodontally healthy subjects (13.33%). In periodontitis subjects, P. gingivalis fimA I, II, IV, V and Ib genotypes were detected in of 20%, 33.33% 20%, 6.67% and 13.33% respectively among periodontitis subjects. The frequency of genotype fimA type II was greater where plaque accumulation was >1. However, P. gingivalis fimA IV genotype followed by fimA Ib genotype were detected in higher percentages. Conclusion: P. gingivalis was detected in periodontally diseased and healthy subjects. P. gingivalis fimA genotype II, IV and Ib was identified in diseased subjects only. In conclusion, the prevalence of P. gingivalis especially fimA genotype II, IV and Ib can be used as indicator to differentiate between diseased and healthy subjects.Keywords: P. gingivalis, Chronic periodontitis, Genotypes.
Anti-Alopecia Activity and Compound Content of n-Hexane Fraction of Cyclea Barbata Leaves Resmi Mustarichie

Abstract

One of the plants empirically used by the Pasemah tribe in South Sumatra, Indonesia,  as a hair grower is the green cincau (Indonesian) leaf (Cyclea barbata Miers.). Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the anti-alopecia activity and its compound content from the n-hexane fraction of the C. barbata leaves. Methods: Green grass jelly (C. barbata Miers.) Extracted with 96% ethanol and fractionated with water, n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The concentration of ethanol extract was diluted to 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% and all fractions were tested on rabbits by the modified Tanaka method. All data were analyzed statistically by ANOVA. Results: Test results showed that the ethanol extract of green grass jelly leaves had the activity of stimulating hair growth starting at a concentration of 15%. It was found that the n-hexane fraction had the best activity compared to other fractions and positive control (minoxidil 2%).Further tests using IR and LC-MS spectrophotometers found that the n-hexane fraction contained 1,4-dimethyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-8H-pyrrolo[2’,3’:3,4]azepino[2,1-b]quinazolin-8-one. Conclusions: Ethanol extract and hexane fraction at concentrations of 15% and above were found to have anti-alopecia activity. The compound contained from the hexane fraction 1,4-dimethyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-8H-pyrrolo[2’,3’:3,4]azepino[2,1-b]quinazolin-8-one] (C22H18N3O) which was thought to cause properties hair growth.Keywords: Hair loss, Anti-alopecia, Green grass jelly, Cyclea barbata Miers,  1,4-dimethyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-8H-pyrrolo[2’,3’:3,4]azepino[2,1-b]quinazolin-8-one.
