Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to know the liver regenerative and hepatoprotective effects of Moringa oleifera (MO) in the animal models of liver fibrosis. Methods: The study was a randomized post-test only controlled group design. Male Rattus novergicus of liver fibrosis caused by induction of CCl4 was treated with extract of (MO). Histological of the liver tissue with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining were investigated by a light microscope. We calculate the number of hepatocytes expressing MDA and cytokeratin-7 (CK-7) in liver tissue using the immunohistochemical analysis. Results: Induction of CCL4 for 14 weeks results in liver fibrosis (METAVIR score F-3) and improves by the administration of MO. The number of hepatocytes expressing MDA in liver fibrosis models sevenfold higher than normal models and significantly lower after treated with MO. ALT and AST in the treated models significantly lower than in the liver fibrosis models. On the other hand, the number of hepatocytes expressing CK-7 in both normal and liver fibrosis models was lower. The CK-7 significantly higher after the administration of MO. Many ductular reactions develop in the treated animal models. Conclusions: in our knowledge, this is the first study reported a liver regenerative effect of MO in the liver fibrosis, beyond its hepatoprotective effect. The mechanism of liver regenerative probably through a hepatic progenitor cell proliferation. Keywords: Moringa oleifera, liver fibrosis, liver regenerative, CK7, MDA.

Abstract

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)-Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a well-known infertility management, but the success rate remains low. One of etiologies is the sperm factor. The objective of this review is to explore the update of sperm selection methods for selecting the best sperm quality for IVF-ICSI. Initially, semen analysis should be conducted hence sperm motile and morphology data are obtained. If there is standard sperm morphology in semen analysis, then in the motile sperm organelle morphology (MSOME), important sperm organelles are also obtained, such as nuclues, which are supplemented with vacuole data. Then, due to limitation of semen analysis, the analysis of sperm DNA fragmentation exists to analyze the quality of sperm DNA integrity. Sperm DNA fragmentation is caused by apoptosis. Magnetic Activated Cell-Sorting (MACS) is a sperm selection method that selects non-apoptotic sperms for IVF-ICSI. Finally, Physiological ICSI (PICSI) method is performed to select qualified sperms based on its binding with hyaluronan, immitating the physiological process in natural fertilization. It is important to select the best sperm quality through the most appropriate selection method to increase the success rate of IVF-ICSI. Keywords: IVF-ICSI, Sperm selection, DFI, MSOME, MACS, PICSI.

Abstract

Bone substitutes are being increasingly used especially in oncologic surgery, traumatology, revision prosthetic surgery and spine surgery. Bone substitute can be defined as a synthetic, inorganic or biologically organic combination which can be inserted for the treatment of a bone defect instead of autogenous or allogenous bone. Despite the improvement of research, human bone grafts persist to be the most effective bone substitutes to replace bone loss. This research was retrospective study conducted in consecutive sampling in Sardjito General Hospital Yogyakarta from January 2014 to Desember 2018. Patients underwent anterior iliac crest bone graft harvesting was included. 4 months after the procedure, the donor site morbidity was identified. The parameters used in this study are pain score using visual analog scale, paresthesia, problem in walking, wound infection, scar satisfaction and major morbidity. Anterior iliac bone graft harvesting resulted in minimal morbidity and neither pain or functional limitations. It also provides the optimal bone graft material, yields minimal morbidity, and is an acceptable choice in autologous bone graft harvesting.

Abstract

The properties of flammability and the effect of zinc oxide with antimony trioxide were examined on the thermal corrosion testing of epoxy resin and formaldehyde. Zinc borate was added to the resin and then reinforced with silica fiber and woven glass fibers (90 ° -0º) with thickness (4 mm). Then expose the system to Acetylene Oxide flame (3500 ° C) directly with different exposures of flame (10 mm, 20 mm), to study flame retardant resistance and protection of the substrate. Animein trioxide was then added to zinc porcine in different quantities (10%, 20% and 30%) to form hybrid flame retardants for hybrid exposure to the same flame temperature and exposure distances. The method of measuring the surface temperature of the flame was used to determine the temperature transferred to the composite material. The results showed that the best exposed distance and a large proportion of protective layer of zinc boron with antimony trioxide was at 30%. Abstract

The study is devoted to a unique asymptomatic case of pulmonary sequestration with no infection detected and offers an appropriate treatment solution. The study was carried out in the Surgery Department of the polyclinic No.47011661433010211A1001, Hangzhou, China, in 2019. The patient diagnosed with pulmonary sequestration was 26 years old. No associated symptoms were detected. CT Angiography (CTA) was applied to diagnose pulmonary sequestration, whereas Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) was conducted before operation in order to localize abnormal vessels. CT Angiography (CTA) suggested thickening and tortuous regional arteries in the right lower lung, with obvious increasing in branches. The 12th thoracic level aorta branched out into the right lower lobe of the lung, the vein drained back into the pulmonary vein. The surgical treatment of pulmonary sequestration was performed with the embolic thread and involved embolization with an embosphere of 0.5 mm diameter and a spring coil. The post-surgical angiography revealed the disappearance of distal blood flow, indicating success of the therapy. After the intervention, the patient developed a recurrent fever. After the oral administration of low-dose glucocorticoids, the patient’s body temperature dropped to the normal level. The final CT scan of the chest conducted a year after treatment showed shadow absorption. The embolization therapy turned out to be effective and hence is suitable for the treatment of pulmonary sequestration. It was established that lung malformations may manifest as an asymptomatic condition. This finding expands what we know about the pulmonary sequestration.
