Abstract

The task of outreach or mission from the beginning had Christ commanded the disciples. When they were first called they were commanded in Matthew 28:19-20 "Go and make disciples of all nations." God does not want anyone to build His love to be bestowed on humans through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross so that those who respond by believing in Him are eternal. This world is full of evil, many people who do not know the truth are under threat of eternal punishment. Who is responsible for breaking the news to them? It is none other than God's church/believers. Mission/apostello means to send with authority for a specific purpose to be accomplished. From the very beginning the church was founded/existed on a mission. In this paper, we will discuss "The Church's Duty as Christ's Mission Judging from the Gospel of Matthew 28:19-20." So it is clear that the task of confession/mission is the duty of the church, namely the duty of every believer. So the discussion includes the notion of the church and the notion of mission. Church / is a congregation / people who believe in Jesus as Lord and savior. Mission /apostello means to send with authority for a specific purpose to be accomplished.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Acts 17:16-31 to find the principles of mission theology that are useful for providing the pillars of understanding in carrying out mission activities, so that they can be carried out correctly according to the will of God, the giver of the mission. It should be understood that theology and mission cannot be separated, because they are closely related. The relationship between these two fields is basically the essence of theology itself as a scientific discipline that contains two sides of understanding, namely theology is teaching about God and theology must lead people to God. Today's reality indicates that there are distortions in the understanding of some Indonesian ecumenical theologians. The distortions in question are related to the core meaning of mission news, the purpose of dialogue pluralism and the use of the christocentric method in mission activities. Paul's ministry in Athens as documented in Acts 17:16-31 teaches several important principles in carrying out cross-cultural missions, which are useful in helping missionaries analyze problems in the field and respond appropriately to them

The emergence of Covid-19 has greatly impacted the Indonesian people who opened God's congregations during the outbreak of covid-19, many church members, one of which was because the congregation who was declared positive, died, there were congregations who were laid off from work, economic difficulties and so on. Therefore, the role of the church is important in this pandemic period to continue to provide support so that the faithful congregation can continue to live as God's people. This research is to examine in depth and objectivity of the influence in the pandemic period for the church set by Matthew 5:13-16. This study uses a qualitative research method of taxonomic analysis, using inductive biblical research based on analysis with three sub-focuses: 1) the church is salt, 2) the church is light, 3) the church is an example in good deeds. The results of the study indicate that the church must have a positive influence on its congregation, providing a real dedication to the community congregation and the congregation in particular.
