Abstract

Flavonoids are the largest group of phenolic compounds found in nature. The cat's whisker plant (Orthosiphon aristatus) is a plant that belongs to the Lamiaceae family. This plant is one of the many medicinal plants in Indonesia, and is often used by people for traditional medicine. This research aims to determine the flavonoid content found in cat's whisker leaves in Surabaya Village, East Sakra District, East Lombok Regency. This type of research is exploratory descriptive. The sample used was 392.6 grams of cat's whisker leaves. Data collection techniques are observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses phytochemical screening and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) analysis. The research results showed that cat's whisker leaves contain flavonoids. The results of analysis using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) showed that 11 compounds were identified in the methanol extract of cat's whisker leaves (Orthosiphon aristatus). These compounds include: Methoxy, Phenyl-, Oxime, Cyclohexene, 1-methyl-4-(1-methylethenyl)-, (R)- (CAS) D-1,8, 1H-Pyrrole, 2,5-dihydro- , 2,3-Dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl-4H-pyran-4-one, N-Acetylpyrrolidone, 1,6-Anhydro-Beta-D- Glucopyranose, Mome Inositol (12.57%), Pluchidiol (2.38%), Beta-D-Mannofuranoside,1-O- Undecenyl)-, Octadec-9--Enoic Acid, Octadecanoic Acid (CAS) Stearic Acid. The highest content of secondary metabolite compounds is Octadec-9-Enoic Acid (21.67%).

Abstract

This research aims to determine the diversity index of sea stars at Awang Beach, Central Lombok Regency. Starfish play an important role in the lives of living creatures. However, the existence of Starfish in each region is increasingly experiencing damage due to pollution and human activities. The type of research used is comparative descriptive research. Data collection techniques are in the form of direct observation and documentation. Based on the research results, it was found that there were five types of Starfish found in the waters of Awang Beach, Central Lombok Regency, including: Protoreaster nodus, Linckia leavigata, Archaster typhicus, Culcita novaeguineae, and Henricia leviuscula. Sampling was carried out at three station points, namely station I, station II and station III, using the quadrant transect method. The research results showed that the starfish diversity index at the three station points was 0.1590 in the low category.

Abstract

Yards have a role in maintaining community food security with one of the food sources being local vegetables. This group of plants has advantages, including having adapted to the local environment, being easy to obtain, and containing substances that are beneficial to the body. This research aims to determine the diversity and nutritional potential of local garden vegetables in Bantul Regency. Data collection was carried out using survey methods and semi-structured interviews using questionnaire instruments. The location for data collection was determined purposively, covering areas in 7 sub-districts (kepanewon) in Bantul Regency. Plant samples are then documented and identified. Proximate, mineral and vitamin analyzes were carried out on kedi (Cnidoscolus chayamansa McVaugh), tayuman (Bauhinia purpurea L.), and mulberry (Morus sp.) plants. The research results showed that there were 71 species from 27 families of local vegetables in residents' yards. The types of local vegetable plants recorded are in the Fabaceae family. Meanwhile, the plants that are often found in residents' yards are chilies (Capsicum spp.), bananas (Musa paradisiaca L.), eggplant (Solanum melongena L.), cassava (Manihot utilissima Pohl.), spinach (Amaranthus sp.), and jackfruit ( Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.). Comparison of the results of nutritional analysis of three vegetables shows that among the three plants in 100 grams of sample there is the highest value of sodium in kedi leaves, namely 22.73 mg; protein content 7.36%, vitamin A 209.88 mg, and potassium 441.78 mg in tayuman; and energy from total fat 24.57 Kcal, total energy 84.85 Kcal, and calcium 485.43 mg in mulberries.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop a practical manual for the Plant Physiology I course. This research is included in development research. The design used in this research uses a 4D model which was adapted into a 3P model (Definition, Design and Development). The research instruments used were validation sheets and readability test sheets. This development research uses two expert validators, namely content/material experts and teaching materials experts as well as readability tests by students. Data collection techniques use validation techniques and readability tests. The data analysis technique used is the percentage technique. The research results showed that the value of the content/material expert validator was an average of 3.15, the teaching material expert validator was an average of 3.11, and the readability test by 20 students was an average of 3.08. Thus, teaching materials in the form of a Plant Physiology I practical manual are suitable for use without revision.

Abstract

Indonesia as one of the tropical countries in the world with high air humidity triggers the breeding of mosquitoes such as Aedes aegypti which is one of the vectors of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This type of research is a literature study using the literature review method. This method is carried out by evaluating, interpreting and explaining the ideas discussed in several studies by searching for sources from the Google Scholar database. The selection of the type of article is based on the year of publication, the article can be accessed in its entirety, and discusses plants as repellents against mosquitoes. Based on research results from several sources, there is a biological prospect as an anti-mosquito agent for anti-mosquito and repellent/repelling power because it contains bioactive compounds, such as alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, phenols, tannins, steroids and terpenoids. These compounds enter through respiratory contact and digestive/gastric toxins so that mosquitoes experience mortality/death. This compound also blocks chemical receptors (chemoreceptors) found on the palpus and antennae of mosquitoes, so that mosquitoes escape without sucking blood again. It is hoped that this review article can provide information regarding repellent plants as anti-mosquitoes. It can be concluded from the results of the review that there are plants that have repellent power against Aedes aegypti with increased protective power according to the increase in concentration of the plant used, as well as the length of exposure of the extract from each plant to the skin.
