Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, online learning became an unavoidable impact. To adapt, students are increasingly using Personal Listening Devices (PLD) for their online learning needs. However, intensifying and frequent use of PLDs can increase the risk of noise-induced hearing loss, which happens due to noise causing a person's hearing threshold to increase by disrupting the hearing cells in their inner ear's organ of Corti. The objective of this research was to examine whether there exists a correlation between the PLD usage by medical students and their average high-frequency threshold and hearing loss incidence while they study online. A cross-sectional analytic observational design was employed in this study. The dataset was analyzed using Chi-square test. The results showed that the significance value (p value) of the student behavior with hearing threshold average was and hearing loss incidence as follows: the PLD usage (p=0.160, p=0.498); the length of PLD usage (p=0.452, p=0.071); the duration of PLD usage per day before the pandemic (p=0.895, p=0.309); the duration of PLD usage per day during the pandemic (p=0.957, p=0.428); the duration of PLD usage per week before the pandemic (p=0.764, p=0.796); the duration of PLD usage per week during the pandemic (p=0.811, p=0.942); the PLD volume (p=0.731, p=0.731); the time of PLD usage (p=0.812, p=0.092); the increased intensity of PLD usage (p=0.291, p=0.887); the PLD type (p=0.879, p=0.476); and PLD's noise reduction facilities (p=0.879, p=0.353). This study concludes that there is no influence of the PLD usage behavior among the medical students on high-frequency thresholds and hearing loss incidence during pandemic online learning.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a major global public health problem and the most common type of cancer. The incidence of cases in Indonesia was about 42.1 per 100.000 population in 2019. Multiple risk factors underlie breast cancer malignancy. However, breast volume has not yet been included as a risk factor for breast cancer. This study aims to analyze the association between breast volume and breast malignancy. This cross-sectional study obtains breast volume and BI-RADS score by performing a mammography assessment at Dr. Saiful Anwar General Hospital, Malang. The inclusion criteria were women aged > 40 years and excluded those who have mammography contraindications such as pregnancy and breastfeeding. The parameters for calculating breast volume were the width, height, and compression thickness. The malignancy determination was use the BI-RADS category. There was no significant association using the Kruskal-Wallis test (p = 0.273, p > 0.05). The conclusion is there was no association between breast volume and the risk of malignancy based on BI-RADS mammography.

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer suffered by women worldwide. The development and incidence of breast cancer is influenced by various risk factors, one of which is breast volume. The amount of breast volume is influenced by several factors such as genetics, demographics, reproduction, lifestyle, and Body Mass Index (BMI). This study aims to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and breast volume of research subjects at RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang, East Java. This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional study approach and analysis using Kruskal Wallis test, the Mann Whitney test, and Spearman correlation test. Based on the Kruskal Wallis test BMI-left breast volume, the sig value obtained was 0.020 (sig < 0.05) while in the analysis of BMI-right breast volume the sig value obtained was 0.083 (sig > 0.05). Follow-up analysis using the Mann-Whitney BMI test-left breast volume showed significant results in the normal-overweight (p=0.050) and normal-obese (p=0.007) BMI groups. While the BMI-volume analysis of the right breast showed significant results only in the normal-obese BMI group (p = 0.044). Spearman correlation test of BMI-left breast volume obtained sig = 0.000 and r = 0.603. While the Spearman test of BMI-right breast volume obtained sig = 0.004 and r = 0.511. This study concludes that there is a significant relationship between BMI and breast volume which is positive with a fairly strong correlation strength.

Abstract

Increasing cases of COVID-19 infection in Indonesia have prompted the Indonesian Ministry of Health to establish health protocols to prevent COVID-19. According to Satuan Tugas Penanganan COVID-19, the increase in cases in July-August 2021 was caused by 9.5% of not wearing masks behavior and 11.2% of not keeping a distance and avoiding crowds. This research aimed to determine perceptions of change and health protocol compliance in COVID-19 survivors. The term perceptions in this research were based on the Health Belief Model theory, particularly perceptions of susceptibility, severity, barriers, and benefits. The research design was analytic observational research using a cross-sectional method. The data was collected by distributing questionnaires on Google Forms via online media. The number of respondents is 103 respondents who live in Malang City. This research utilized the Mc Nemar test to examine perceptions change and health protocols compliance on respondents using a 95% degree of confidence, α = 0.05, significant if p < 0.05. The results showed no significant change in survivors' perceptions with p 0.125, and increased compliance by survivors to health protocols with p <0.001. In conclusion, this research examined that the survivors’ perceptions insignificantly changed before and after suffering from Covid-19, and survivors' health protocol compliance significantly increased before and after suffering from Covid-19.
