Jurnal Review Politik (JRP) is a high-quality peer-reviewed research journal published by the Department of Islamic Political Thought, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Philosophy, Sunan Ampel State Islamic University, Surabaya. The languages used are Indonesian and English. JRP is published twice a year, June and December. The journal focuses on the studies of Islamic Political Thought, political science, religion and politics, governance issues, and public policies in Indonesia and other Islamic countries. The journal publishes theoretical and empirical research articles to promote and disseminate the academic atmosphere in and around the regions. The journal has areas of concern that include political science, Indonesian politics, gender politics and identity, community welfare, social development, citizenship and public management, public policy, international politics & security, media, information & literacy, religion and politics, digital society and disruption, civil society movement, governance & democracy, radicalism, and terrorism.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of democracy and the Islamic rule of law. Democracy is the supreme sovereignty of the people hands. On the other hand,  Islam is considered to theocracy, the highest of power is God's sovereignty. Both are different, but that there is an idea that  Islamology discourse ignores the contradictions between them, such as the concept of theo-democracy and concepts of Islam substantially. Both assume that Islam is relevant to democracy, such as tolerance, justice and equality. This ignores the formality of Islam, and does not emphasize a formal implementation of sharia. Islamic law (shari'a), can be implemented in a modern state, especially in Indonesia, by following the procedures in the legal system and modern law. The steps which being taken are the formulation, socialization and political stages.

Abstract

Since the end of colonialism in Muslim countries, the political system of nation states can integrate the entire of community, including in Indonesia. Based on the background, this article will answer the question of whether that separates between religious authorities on the one hand, and the political authori­ties on the other. Political Islam, in particular of the Islamic political movement, trying to unify these two authorities. Muja­hideen Movement is one of them. This is an attempt to defend "the interests of Islam" from political marginalization, and various social imbalance, which is thought to occur due to the poor ability of the state to solve community problems. The phe­no­menon of the movement of Islamic law (Shari'a) which is enforced by MMI Indonesia, known as the Islamic political movement.

Abstract

This article will look at the relationship between  law and the situation surrounding the global economy. With descriptive analysis, explored how the legal and economic information as two subsystems, interacting. The interaction between the two subsystems are evident with the approach of the study of law and society. The development of global economy  have implications for the policies of national law automatically. Analysis shows that this is due to the preconditions which has done by economic and trading organizations. This tallows the political hegemony of the powerful state (forward) against weak countries (poor / deve­loping).

Abstract

This paper is a study of qualitative approach about sustainable development in the Batu city. The conventional development has managed to increase economic growth, but failed in the social and environmental aspects. The studies show that perception of economic development is economic growth, so that the social and environmental factors are put in a less important position. Deve­lopment paradigm shift to sus­tainable develop­ment. Indonesia is an agricultural country that has quite large agricultural potential, so that the development of agriculture has to be an important strategy of development. One manifest­tation of the development of sustainable agriculture is a policy of agropolitan regional develop­ment, which is carried out in Batu city.

Abstract

This article is based on research about the influence of abstention of education voters inlocal election 2010 in Lamongan. This study was conducted to determine the level of education voters and the effect to educational level on points for abstaining voters in the election. With a quantitative approach that emphasizes the analysis of numerical, data (numbers) are processed with statis­tical method, and the studied population is 937 people and samples taken at random are 94 people. The results obtained from this study voters who are 17-year-old (adolescent) with graduate of yunior high school, have the character of an unstable and easily influenced, therefore also contribute for making decision in determining the political choice, due to the lack of political education for them.

Abstract

This article  is a historical analysis about the politics of  santri. The role and involvement of santri in politics is not a new phenomenon, although the quality and quantity in each political episode is different, but the process and dynamics of Indonesian politics, can not be separated from the involvement of santri. This position is in line with the actual political map of Indonesia. The involvement of santri can describe in four times of the history of Indonesia, namely the pre-independence era, the early of inde­pendence until the end of the old order, the new order, and reform era. The fourth periodicity are used to read and analyze the tides of gait of santri in the political world.

Abstract

Bureaucracy plays an important role in the formulation, imple­men­tation and monitoring of public policies, as well as in the evaluation of their own performance. In this strategic position, there is always an effort to attract the bureaucracy in the politi­cal game area. Bureaucracy used to attain, maintain, or streng­then the power. There are three models to describe the relation­ship of bureaucracy and politicians: the relationship where the govern­ment/executive’ power is dominant that it could dicta­te the legislative/political/parliamentary, the rela­tion­ship which the legis­lators and politicians have always cross­ed into the realm of the executive and impose their will, and the there­lationship which the executive and legislative branches tend to look for a balanced position. Therefore, the government bureau­cra­cy both directly or indirectly related to political interest groups.
