Abstract

Marriage is regarded as a divine command that binds a man and a woman together in one flesh to continue the lineage. However, for Christian couples who have yet to bear children, psychological and social pressures often weigh heavily. Through qualitative research, this article explores the experiences and challenges faced by Christian couples in Nagasaribu, Humbang Hasundutan. The research methodology involves direct interviews with the couples to understand their thoughts and feelings. The findings indicate that the presence of children is deemed crucial for the continuation of the lineage and inheritance. Pressures from family, society, and the church further complicate this situation. In conclusion, the researchers suggest that couples require intensive pastoral support tailored to their needs and desires. Meaningful pastoral care is necessary to assist them in facing these challenges. Therefore, this article highlights the importance of pastoral support in addressing the challenges of infertility and the inability to conceive within certain cultural and religious contexts.

Abstract

Indonesia has a plurality of tribes, races and religions. This certainly gives rise to many differences of opinion in the midst of today's plural society and in this case especially related to religion. Manipulation using religious identity is often used as a tool to legitimize violence, thus creating tension between religious communities. From year to year, acts of violation of religious freedom in Indonesia continue to increase. Therefore, in this context, a critical attitude is needed from the community to be able to read and understand the situation wisely, so as not to get caught up in a narrative that has the potential for violence and to open the paradigm of Indonesian society, especially Christians, on how to respond to the problem of religious violence that occurs in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to build tolerance and love between religious communities. This research method uses a qualitative method.

Abstract

This review discusses the style of spirituality contained in popular culture packaging through the lyrics of an Indian song entitled “Membasuh”. This research uses a qualitative approach with semiotic analysis. The findings of this review are the concept of leadership spirituality expressed through Jesus. This can be seen from the emphasis that humans live to give to each other. The concept of giving in the lyrics of this song also invites the general public to keep giving even though they consider themselves not holy. More than that, every listener is invited to open themselves as a space that gives forgiveness and loves others without worrying about past mistakes that make themselves trapped in a dark space.

Abstract

Nowadays, the lives of congregations and communities are increasingly immersed in the glitz of modernity that upholds individualistic life. This era has brought human life into a very fast flow, full of various challenges waiting to be resolved. In the church environment, congregations often face various personal, family, and relationship problems that affect their lives holistically. The same thing is experienced by society, which is also struggling with emotional and spiritual crises such as depression, intrapersonal conflict, and loss of motivation to live. To overcome this crisis, pastoral counseling plays an important role in connecting the congregation's faith with the reality of their lives. Using a literature review method, this study examines the role of pastoral counseling in providing emotional and spiritual support to individuals, as well as overcoming various challenges of daily life through Christian teachings. The results of the study indicate that pastoral counseling not only strengthens spiritual bonds within the church but also creates a more harmonious relationship between the church and society. Through an approach based on love and understanding, pastoral counseling helps individuals deal with problems such as anxiety, depression, and social conflict, thus providing a positive impact on the quality of life of the congregation and society.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the strengthening of spiritual resilience in the face of post-earthquake trauma in the North Tapanuli region adopting Shelly Rambo’s trauma theology and Terence Fretheim’s relational theology. This research uses a relational-trauma theology approach with descriptive analysis techniques that will answer three important questions. First, what are the experiences of individuals or groups who experienced post-earthquake trauma in North Tapanuli in dealing with the event? Secondly, how do relationships of nurturing nature using the analogy of humans and nature ‘brothers and sisters jointly play a role in helping to awaken of individual or group spirituality in overcoming trauma? Thirdly, what are the challenges faced by individuals or groups in strengthening their spiritual resilience after the earthquake? This research shows that therapeutic entity can actively contribute to the treatment of trauma and that strengthening spiritual resilience through the mindfulness of nature relationships has great potential in helping individuals and groups deal with post-earthquake trauma.
