Abstract

Madrasah principal leadership plays a strategic role in enhancing teacher performance amid educational digitalization. This study aims to describe how the principal’s leadership improves teacher performance at MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected over three months (February–April 2024) from 12 participants including the principal, 10 teachers, and one curriculum deputy principal selected via purposive sampling. Data collection employed semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, followed by thematic analysis based on Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s (2014) framework. Findings reveal that the principal enhances teacher performance through four integrated strategies: (1) influencing by monitoring lesson plans and organizing online learning training; (2) mobilizing through exemplary discipline and professional conduct; (3) motivating by requiring teaching activities to be conducted on campus; and (4) mentoring by granting pedagogical autonomy while enforcing disciplinary measures. These practices reflect an integrative application of transformational, instructional, and distributed leadership models, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and digitally adaptive school culture. The study confirms that effective principal leadership not only boosts teacher performance but also cultivates a conducive work environment aligned with quality Islamic education goals in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the teacher self-development program at Al-Fatah Private Islamic Senior High School (MAS Al-Fatah) Natar, South Lampung Regency, using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. The evaluation covers the relevance of the program and teacher needs (context), the availability of resources and program planning (input), the implementation of self-development activities such as training, workshops, and supervision (process), and the outcomes achieved in improving teacher competence (product). This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-evaluative method involving 12 teachers and 1 madrasah head as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis over a three-month period (February–April 2025), and were analyzed using triangulation techniques. The results indicate that the teacher self-development program at MAS Al-Fatah is conducted at least once every semester and is supported by school policy and actual teacher needs. However, the program faces challenges related to funding and time allocation. Overall, the program positively impacts teacher professionalism, motivation, and instructional quality through collaborative strategies such as peer supervision, internal workshops, and teacher study groups. The study recommends enhancing needs-based planning, strengthening budget support, conducting regular monitoring and evaluation, and measuring the program's impact on student learning outcomes to ensure program sustainability and effectiveness.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of the role-playing method in improving the understanding and internalization of basic Islamic values-especially honesty, discipline, politeness, helping, and love of cleanliness-in 24 students of class A/B RA Raudlatul Huda Sukarendah. The researcher implemented a two-cycle classroom action research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, field notes, documentation, and attitude assessment, then analyzed thematically with source triangulation. Results showed significant improvement: contextual understanding of Islamic values rose from 35% to 88%, while behavior according to these values increased from 20% to 83% after two cycles. This success reflects the application of Islamic education management principles that are responsive to children's nature, integrate values in curricular planning, and apply character-based holistic assessment. The researcher recommends the integration of participatory methods such as role play as an innovative practice in the management of transformative Islamic learning in early childhood education institutions.
