Abstract

Immunization is a way to actively increase a person's immunity against an antigen, so when he is later exposed to a similar antigen, disease does not occur. The purpose of immunization is prevent the occurrence of certain diseases in group of people or even eliminate certain diseases from world, such as measles immunization. Mother's behavior about immunization form a positive attitude towards immunization activities. With the good knowledge, attitudes and actions that mother has, the awareness to immunize the baby will increase. The knowledge, attitudes and actions possessed by mother will raise the mother's confidence in health of baby and affect status of immunization in Indonesia. The research conducted is correlational quantitative data with a cross sectional design. The research was conducted at Pekanbaru City Health Center in August - December 2021. The study population was mothers who visited Pekanbaru City Health Center to immunize their babies, namely as many as 60 people. Sampling was done total sampling. The data collected in this research is of primary data which is collected directly from the respondents using a questionnaire. The results showed that mother's behavior regarding basic immunization was good for 20 people 33.3%, sufficient behavior for 13 people 21.7%, and poor behavior for 27 people 45.0%. From the results of study it is hoped that the Public Health Center can provide information about immunization to mothers who have babies and visit the Pekanbaru City Health Center to be more active and many mothers are enthusiastic about bringing their children to Integrated Healthcare Center every month.

Abstract

The main problem in conducting lupus treatment is that most drugs for the therapy provided have not been authorized so that they are still included in the class of off-label drugs for the treatment of lupus. The use of off-label drugs can carry the potential for side effects in Lupus patients which have an impact on increasing health costs. This study aims to determine the impact of side effects of using off-label drugs on health costs in lupus patients, as an integrated evaluation in seeking to improve the quality of life and ensure proper care in Lupus patients. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional method by means of a survey using the Naranjo Algorithm instrument (PESO Book) to determine the incidence rate of side effects that exist in LSE therapy using off-label drugs and calculate the health costs of lupus patients. The results showed that the most respondents were in adulthood (19 respondents or 47.5%), then the most respondents were female (37 respondents or 92.5%). Data on the incidence of side effects obtained the most respondents in the Probable category (most likely to occur ROM) of 14 respondents or 35%. In addition, data on health costs incurred by more respondents experienced an increase, namely 23 respondents or 57.5%. The research data shows the calculated r value is 0.3044 and the Sig (2-tailed) value is 0.000 with a confidence level (CI) of 0.05. The results of the analysis clearly show that there is a significant relationship between the side effects of using off-label drugs on the health costs of lupus patients, in this correlation there is a unidirectional relationship, where if the value of side effects experienced by respondents is high, the value of respondents' health costs is also high.

Abstract

Guava leaves (Psidium guajava L.) contain terpenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins, which are believed to have antibacterial properties against Aeromonas hydrophila. Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria are bacteria that are pathogenic and cause systemic disease. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of guava leaves in inhibiting Aeromonas hydrophil bacteria. The method used in the antibacterial activity test was the diffusion method using the paper disc technique. The results of the One-Way ANOVA test at the 5% level and followed by the Tukey test showed that the effective inhibitory concentration was 7900 ppm with a moderate antibacterial category.

Abstract

This study investigated the hepatoprotective effects of Phak Khom (Andrographis paniculata) using in vitro and in vivo models. Phak Khom extract showed dose-dependent cytotoxicity on hepatocyte cells, significantly reducing cell viability at concentrations above 100 µg/mL. In addition, the extract showed a reduction in oxidative stress markers, with a 40% reduction in reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-6). In vivo, Phak Khom treatment in rats resulted in a significant reduction in liver enzyme levels (ALT and AST), indicating improved liver function. Histopathological analysis revealed decreased liver necrosis and fibrosis, while oxidative stress markers such as malondialdehyde (MDA) were decreased, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was increased. Statistical analysis confirmed the efficacy of the extract at both low and high doses. These findings validate the traditional use of Phak Khom in liver-related disorders and support its potential as an adjunct therapy for hepatitis. However, further clinical studies, especially randomized controlled trials, are essential to confirm its safety and efficacy in humans, and to explore its synergy with conventional treatments.

Abstract

Gene therapy and immunotherapy have emerged as revolutionary treatments in medicine, offering hope for previously untreatable diseases, particularly cancer and genetic disorders. This study aims to analyze the progress and challenges in gene therapy and immunotherapy in the US healthcare system during 2022 and 2023, with a focus on their effectiveness, barriers to implementation, and regulatory hurdles. The methodology used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach, using literature reviews, case study analysis, and data from clinical trials at institutions such as the NIH and Mayo Clinic. The findings highlight significant advances in gene therapies such as CRISPR for genetic disorders and cancer treatment, as well as the success of CAR-T cell therapy in hematologic cancers. However, both therapies face challenges, including high treatment costs, regulatory delays, and limited accessibility. Despite these challenges, this study highlights the promising future of these therapies, with advances in gene editing and immunotherapy expected to expand their applications. Future research should focus on long-term safety and efficacy, cost reduction strategies, and improved delivery systems for both therapies. Addressing these gaps will be critical to the widespread adoption of gene therapy and immunotherapy in clinical practice.
