Abstract

This Study was proposed to test a conceptual framework of correlating corporate image with the business customers in segment of the tourism industry. The data were obtained with the correlational method to the 36 participants who are the Manager of those business customers of Saung Angklung Udjo, PT. On addition, the sample were solicited with purposive sampling method. To measure the corporate image as the 1st variable in this study, theory from Frank Jefkins (1999) were used. In other hand, the measurement of business customers’ loyalty as the 2nd variable and had been operationalized according to the customer loyalty studys from Morais et. at (2004). Using the Rank Spearman’s correlation coefficient, with significance level 0.05, rs = 0.662, tcal> and dk = 34, the results indicated that the corporate image was positively associated with the business customers’ loyalty. The findings revealed that if business customers perceived that corporate already had a negative image, they in turn showed the low loyalty to the corporate. Further, determination coefficient resulted d = 43,82. This finding supported that, in this case, corporate image as the variable gave the contribution as much as 43,82% to the business customers’ loyalty.

Abstract

One importan task must be achieved by late adolescent is achieving ego identity in almost all area of life, mainly in vocational area/domain. In fact, most undergraduated students of Psychology Departement in Bandung Islamic University didn’t have any certain description about their career planning. They also showed little effort in exploring career informations. They came from the family background that parents didn’t urge them to think about their career planning before they had finished their study.This research is on “The Correlation between the Parent’s Support with The Exploration and The Commitment in Vocational Domain”. The aim of this research is to clarify the role of parent’s support in identity building of late adolescent in vocational domain. The building identity of late adolescent is studied through exploration and commitment done by late adolescent in the planning work.This research is a correlational research which done to study a correlation between the parent’s support with the exploration and commitment in vocational domain. The research subject of this study were undergraduated students from Psychology Departement in Bandung Islamic University. By using the Purposive Sampling technique, be gained 91 students which suitable with the criterias. The data are collected by using questionnaires for parent’s support, exploration of vocational domain and commitment.The data gained are analyzed by Spearman Rank Order Coefficient of Correlation. The result are : 1) there is a significant correlation between parent’s support with the exploration (rs = 0.308, p = 0.002) there is a significant correlation between parent’s support with the commitment (rs = 0.355, p = 0.000). The result of this research also showed there is a significant correlation between the emotional support with the exploration (rs = 0.309, p = 0.001), esteem support with the exploration (rs = 0.255, p = 0.007), informational support with the exploration (rs = 0.331, p = 0.001), tangible support with the exploration (rs = 0.184, p = 0.040). These results showed that the emotional support, esteem support, informational support and tangible support contribute positively to the exploration in vocational domain. The informational support gave the most contribution for the exploration (d = 11%), followed by the emotional support (d = 9.5%), esteem support ( d= 6.5%) and tangible support (d = 3.38%).Also, there is a significant correlation between the emotional support with the commitment (rs = 0.313, p = 0.001), esteem support with the commitment (rs = 0.336, p = 0.001), informational support with the commitment (rs = 0.382 , p = 0.000), and between the tangible support with the commitment (rs = 0.293, p = 0.002). These showed that the emotional support, esteem support, informational support and tangible support contribute positively to the commitment in vocational domain. The informational support gave the most contribution to the commitment (d = 14.6 %), followed by esteem support (d = 11.3%), emotional support (d = 9.7) and tangible support (d = 8.6%).It can be concluded that parent’s support contributes positively to the exploration and the commitment in vocational domain.

Abstract

Politeknik adalah salah satu perguruan tinggi yang didirikan untuk menjembatani antara lulusan STM (teknisi) dengan lulusan S1 (engineer). Di Politeknik Manufaktur Bandung, mahasiswa dituntut untuk memiliki kompetensi teoritik dan praktik, yang dinyatakan dalam IPT (Indeks Prestasi Teoritik) dan IPP (Indeks Prestasi Praktik) serta IPK (Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif). Namun, di Jurusan Teknik Pengecoran Logam, jumlah mahasiswa berprestasi rendah tergolong masih cukup banyak, yaitu IPT rendah sebanyak 35.29% sedangkan IPP rendah sebanyak 29.41%.Sesungguhnya, Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bandung telah melakukan seleksi penerimaan mahasiswa baru melalui psikotes. Salah satu alat tes yang digunakan adalah Pauli. Melalui Pauli dapat dilihat sikap kerja, motivasi, daya tahan, kekuatan usaha, pengaturan energi dan stabilitas emosi yang diperkirakan memberi pengaruh terhadap pencapaian prestasi akademik.Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membandingkan profil Pauli antara mahasiswa berprestasi tinggi dan mahasiswa berprestasi rendah di Jurusan Teknik Pengecoran Logam angkatan 2004. Hipotesis yang diajukan adalah “terdapat perbedaan Profil Pauli antara mahasiswa berprestasi tinggi dengan mahasiswa berprestasi rendah angkatan 2004 Jurusan Teknik Pengecoran Logam di Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bandung.” Hasil uji statistik dengan teknik T-test dan Chi-Kuadrat untuk grafik kerja, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada jumlah, rata-rata, tinggi, kenaikan awal, dan simpangan. Mahasiswa berprestasi tinggi memiliki motivasi tinggi, perencanaan, vitalitas tinggi, pengaturan diri, dan stabilitas emosi. Hal ini membantu mereka untuk bertahan dan menyesuaikan diri terhadap tuntutan dan situasi di Polman, sehingga dapat mencapai prestasi yang baik. Sedangkan mahasiswa berprestasi rendah kurang memilki motivasi, kurang perencanaan, vitalitas kurang, dan emosi yang labil. Hal ini menyulitkan penyesuaian diri terhadap tuntutan dan situasi di Polman dan menjadikan rendahnya prestasi yang mereka raih. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Tes Pauli dapat memprediksi pencapaian IPK dan IPP, tetapi tidak dapat memprediksi IPT

Abstract

Pendidikan perguruan tinggi memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda dengan sekolah menengah atas, tentunya juga memiliki tuntutan yang berbeda. Perguruan tinggi melibatkan struktur yang lebih besar dan impersonal, serta lebih fokus pada prestasi dan cara penyampaiannya (Santrock, 2004).  Di Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Islam Bandung, berdasarkan hasil observasi, hasil wawancara dengan beberapa mahasiswa dan dosen, ternyata masih banyak mahasiswa yang belum mampu menyesuaikan pola belajarnya dengan tuntutan kondisi perkuliahan yang dihadapi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka diperlukan program orientasi penyesuaian diri mahasiswa baru dalam bentuk pelatihan.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyusun program pelatihan tentang cara penyesuaian diri dengan tuntutan belajar di perguruan tinggi bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Islam Bandung yang sesuai dengan hasil analisis kebutuhan yang dihadapinya.Pada penelitian ini, digunakan metode analisis kebutuhan berupa kuesioner. Peneliti mengadaptasikan kuesioner penyesuaian diri akademis yang dibuat oleh Wuri Prasetyawati pada tahun 2003. Dalam analisis kebutuhan melibatkan 141 orang mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Islam Bandung tingkat pertama. 30 orang dilibatkan pada tahap uji coba alat ukur dan 111 orang dilibatkan pada tahap pengambilan data lapangan. Subjek yang menjadi sasaran dalam pelatihan ini adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Islam Bandung tingkat pertama.Tujuan umum dari pelatihan adalah agar peserta terampil dalam melakukan penyesuaian diri di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Jumlah waktu pelatihan adalah 24 jam, terbagi menjadi 10 sesi. Evaluasi yang digunakan adalah evaluasi dari peserta tentang pelaksanaan program pelatihan.Program pelatihan ini belum diujicobakan, maka jika program ini akan dilaksanakan, disarankan untuk mengujicobakan dahulu sebelum melaksanakan pelatihan yang sebenarnya. Apabila saat uji coba atau pada saat pelaksanaan ternyata ada bagian dari modul yang tidak sesuai, maka sebaiknya dilakukan perbaikan atau bahkan mengubah bagian modul tersebut agar pada pelaksanaan berikutnya berjalan lebih tepat guna. Guna mengetahui sejauh mana pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta sebelum mengikuti pelatihan, sebaiknya dilaksanakan pre-test dan post test untuk hal tersebut, disarankan untuk membuat alat ukur pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang disertai observasi dari fasilitator agar perkembangan yang dicapai oleh setiap peserta setelah mengikuti program ini dapat terpantau. Sebelum melaksanakan pelatihan, sebaiknya dilaksanakan training for trainer bagi fasilitator, maka diharapkan peneliti selanjutnya membuat modul untuk program tersebut.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to obtain descriptions concerning (1) the influence of self –concept, aggression, and the function of regulation and control on criminal behaviour; (2) the process dynamics of variables as a model of criminal behaviour manifestation. The theory of self-concept from Markus (1977, 1986, 1990) is used to analyse the data.As described in many research done by psychologists, criminals have negative self-concept, low self esteem, low competencies, and low self-confidence. They are also very aggressive and impulsive. However, those research result did not show description of the dynamic relationship between factors that draw out criminal behaviours.To be able to describe the dynamic relationship between factors that draw out criminal behaviours; the comparative causality research design is employed using expost-facto data. Data was gathered from 82 prisoners at the Suka miskin penitentiary, and 58 university students as control group, using questionnaire to measure self concept that based on theory from Markus (1977). A self-report was administered to measure aggression that is based on theory from Loeber and Schmaling (1985). Another self-report was carried out to measure the function of self regulation and control that is based on Markus and Wurf (1987) theory. To measure the criminal behaviour, a self report was made based on the definition of criminal behaviour from Andrew and Bonta (1993).The result of this study shows that self-concept, aggression, and the function of regulation and control, contributed as much as 53.72% to the manifestation of criminal behaviour. The result also shows that the process of manifestation of a criminal behaviour starts from bad self-concept that is marked by aggressive reactions to any emotional stimulus that is perceived as a threat to their self-identity. This kind of perception distortion, along with the cognitive failure to deal with the perceived threat from the environment, lead to uncontrolled behaviour.
