Abstract

The current research intends to find out the different effect of the Jigsaw type of cooperative learning model with CTL approach, the Jigsaw type of cooperative learning model without CTL approach, and the direct learning model towards students mathematics learning achievement and affective aspect regarding student spatial ability which is categorized into high, medium and low. The research was quasi experimental. The results of the research were as follows. (1) The cooperative learning model of Jigsaw type with CTL approach and the cooperative learning model of Jigsaw type gaves a better achievement than direct learning model, and the cooperative learning model of Jigsaw type with CTL approach gaves the same achievement as the cooperative learning model of Jigsaw type. (2) The cooperative learning model of Jigsaw type with CTL approach results a better affective effect than the cooperative learning model of Jigsaw type and direct learning model, and the cooperative learning model of Jigsaw type gaves a better achievement than direct learning model. (3) Students with the high spatial ability had better achievement than students with the medium and low spatial ability, and students with the medium spatial ability had better achievement than students with the low spatial ability. (4) Students with the high spatial ability had better affective aspect than students with the medium and low spatial ability, and students with the medium spatial ability had the same affective aspect as students with the the low spatial ability. More findings are elaborated further on the discussion and conclusion part of the current report.

Abstract

The current research intends to clarify the lab activities program of Basic Chemistry course (including its planning and implementation) at Science Education Department of IAIN Mataram and the factors affecting the quality of the program in order to maximize students’ learning achievement. It is a qualitative research where that data are obtained from students, lecturers, and laboratory assistances. The research found the following remarks: 1) the planning process shows that students have weaknesses on their understanding of the topic being practiced, their capability on using the tools and stuff used in the practices, and on the quantity of consultation to laboratory assistances; 2) During the implementation process, there some blind spots such as inadequate equipment to do lab activities, students’ difficulties in compiling report, unsynchronized schedule of lab activities, and inadequate explanation and consultation to supporting lecturers and laboratory assistances. To anticipate the problems above, an intensive evaluation is held together with students, laboratory assistances, and supporting lecturers to optimize their roles. The factors contributing to the quality of the lab activity are student motivation, the lecturers and laboratory assistances contributions, and the lab equipment.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how to implement Team Accelerated Instruction (TAI) of cooperative learning model to increase student motivation and student learning outcomes. The current research is a classroom action research with three cycles, each cycle consisting of four phases: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in mathematic course for class VIII-3 SMPN 14 Bengkulu with 37 students consisting of 17 boys and 20 female. From the analysis of student questionnaire, the motivation level of students from the first cycle to the third cycle has increased. In the first cycle, students a positive attitude towards learning TAI to improve student motivation is equal to 78.38%, on the second cycle increased to 83.78%, and the third cycle increased to 94.59%. This increase was followed by student activity. Observations indicate activity of students in the first cycle is at less criteria with an average score of 15, the second cycle increased in sufficient criteria with an average score of 22.5 and the third cycle achieve both criteria with an average score of 27. While the average value of the end of individual students increases every cycle. In the first cycle of 56.44, the second cycle of 72.22, and the third cycle of 84.79. Ccompleteness of classical study in the first cycle of 27.02%, cycle II reached 67.57% and 91.89% for the third cycle that has been achieved based on the criteria established in advance is at least 80%.

Abstract

The current research intends to clarify how Treffinger learning model improves student problem-solving skill on school mathematics subject. This research is a descriptive study. There are 30 students as the subjects and are taken from the eighth-grade students of SMPN 9 Palembang South Sumatra. The data are obtained from teaching and learning observation and student test. Based on the analysis, it is found that through Trefinger model the students whose scores are minimally 80 at the test is categorized as good skill in problem solving which is around 86.67% of students.

Abstract

This study displays an error analysis conducted on students’ answers towards the questions within the test on the topic of indefinite integral by using substitution method. This study aims at (1) analyzing error types undertaken by the students during accomplishing the questions, (2) deriving the percentage of each error type on the behalf of existing errors comparison, and (3) identifying the dominant error(s) for whole cases on the topic of indefinite integral by using substitution method to enable conclusion and reflection at the end of the study. The subject of the research is thirty students of 12nd graders of Science 1 of SMA Negeri 2 Tanjungpinang located in Basuki Rahmat Street, Tanjungpinang. This study is conducted by distributing sheets containing questions designed through the discussion and validation phases. The questions are in form of essay and there are 16 of them distributed into two groups of sheets (each group consists of eight questions). Based on the result of analysis by using Watson students’ error categorization, it is obtained that dominant percentage for error existing is 25% for inappropriate data. Others are 20.83% for inappropriate procedure, 18.75% for omitted data, 9.72% for omitted conclusion, 0.69% for response level conflict, 15.28% for undirected manipulation, 9.72% for skills hierarchy problem, and 0% for possible others found. This result concludes that the most frequent error existing is inappropriate data.

Abstract

Pesantren (Islamic Boarding Schools) are expected to be institutions that could lead their students to be main actors of current global era. Their students are nowadays expected to be able to integrated sciences, technology, art, life value and environment in developing society. Pesantren are also looked forward to transform themselves into institutions that not only focus on teaching religious materials but also focus on sciences, technology and informatics retaining Islamic values both in its process and its contents so that their outcomes are not only to be Islamic scholars but also scientists. Therefore, the development of higher education in Pesantren should promote integrated studies in order to build superior individuals having a strong competitiveness.
