Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze employee performance improvement management strategies at the Al Madinah Foundation in Surakarta. This research is motivated by the importance of employee development in improving the quality of Islamic educational institutions. Many foundations experience performance stagnation due to suboptimal human resource development management. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects of this study are performance improvement strategies. The key informants in this study were the Head of Personnel, the Head of Education, and several school principals, as well as permanent teachers at the foundation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results indicate that employee development is carried out through periodic training and regular spiritual guidance. The conclusion suggests that there are several methods and strategies that can be used to improve employee performance within an organization, specifically at educational foundations. This research contributes to the development of human resource management in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

From monarchs and presidents to supreme religious leaders, the architecture of power varies—but its essence shapes the fate of nations. This study presents a comparative analysis of the government systems of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom. It focuses specifically on the structures and functions of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches in each country. While the USA and UK represent two distinct models of democratic governance—a federal republic and a constitutional monarchy respectively—Iran’s theocratic republic offers a unique blend of religious and political authority. Through a structured examination of institutional design, constitutional principles, and practical dynamics, this research reveals both convergences and contrasts among the three systems. The findings highlight how ideological foundations—secular liberalism in the West and Islamic jurisprudence in Iran—significantly shape institutional behavior and power distribution. The study concludes with reflections on the implications of these differences for governance, accountability, and the rule of law.

Abstract

Remittances – monitory income sent by migrants to families back home, provides a financial lifeline to millions of households in Sub-Saharan Africa. In particular – the economics of smaller, poorer, and fragile countries are heavily depended on remittances – The Gambia is not an exception. As a result, at the peak of Covid-19 pandemic, many fragile states in the developing countries that depended on remittances faced significant setbacks as the pandemic had significantly dampened economic and migratory flows – due to the travel restrictions, feared of the virus, and low prospects of jobs. However – In the Gambia, remittance inflows from the diaspora have demonstrated remarkable resilience throughout the COVID-19 crisis. In the immediate aftermath of the pandemic, remittances were estimated to account for between 33% and 39% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to the World Bank Group. Although – remittances do not directly contribute to GDP—since they represent income earned abroad—they have been instrumental in stimulating domestic demand. The remitted funds have supported household expenditures on essential goods such as food, clothing, and housing, thereby enhancing local production and service activities and contributing indirectly to economic stability and growth.  My goal in this article is to elucidate the interrelationship between international migration and human development in The Gambia – by making an analysis of The Gambia diaspora population through remittance and homeland politics.

Abstract

Despite a growing body of research has examined students’ oral presentations in higher education, a comprehensive, unified exploration of their benefits, challenges, and strategies remains limited. This review aims to fill this knowledge gap by integrating and analyzing these aspects into a cohesive framework. Using a literature review approach, document analysis, and specific inclusion criteria, 105 articles were gathered from reliable sources and published between 2020 and 2025. Using secondary data, the review reveals that oral presentations provide significant benefits for students, including developing speaking skills, improving critical thinking, enhancing communication skills, and increasing academic engagement. However, several challenges go beyond these benefits, including students’ anxiety, levels of students’ knowledge, lack of adequate preparation, and body language issues, which can hinder students’ oral presentation performance. Therefore, this review highlights effective strategies across different contexts and organizations, such as reading engagement, script preparation, sufficient preparation, peer assessment, self-assessment, building self-confidence, and fostering self-motivation, all of which are essential for addressing challenges in higher education. Overall, this review suggests that future research should rigorously examine students’ oral presentations in higher education across various settings and institutions.

Abstract

Himalayan wetlands are critical refuges for Central Asian Flyway avifauna, yet they face unique elevation-specific threats that are underrepresented in global conservation frameworks. While wetlands worldwide decline at 1.5% annually (Darrah et al., 2019), Himalayan systems like Kashmir’s Hokersar Wetland are vanishing three times faster due to compounded pressures from climate-mediated siltation and ill-planned dredging (Rashid et al., 2023). This review synthesizes 85 peer-reviewed studies (2019–2024) to evaluate how altitude-adjusted conservation strategies could reverse Hokersar’s documented 86% avifauna decline (2020–2023). Analysis reveals siltation – not urbanization – drives 78% of degradation in high-altitude wetlands (p < 0.01), reducing dissolved oxygen to critical thresholds (<2.4 mg/L) that disproportionately impact migratory species like the Northern Pintail (population drop: 48,000 to 6,500). Drone and LiDAR data (2022–2024) demonstrate that community-led interventions (e.g., herder-monitored sediment traps) improved water retention by 34% in comparable Ladakhi wetlands (Blaise Humbert-Droz 2024), outperforming top-down policy approaches. The study establishes three urgent actions for Ramsar protocol updates: (1) altitude-specific oxygen thresholds, (2) mandatory siltation monitoring in Himalayan site criteria, and (3) integration of Indigenous knowledge into wetland management plans. These findings, validated by 2024 pilot studies, redefine priority interventions for elevation-threatened ecosystems globally.

Abstract

The ability of teachers to effectively integrate technology into the learning process has become essential for the development of students' competencies in STEM fields, especially in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development of Technological Competencies, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) in mathematics teachers through Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL). Effective integration of technology into teaching has become an essential component in teacher professional development and in improving the quality of learning in STEM fields. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative data from a questionnaire with 52 teachers and qualitative data from eight semi-structured interviews. The results showed that teachers possess high levels of pedagogical and content knowledge, but technological competencies are still developing. Correlation analysis Pearson found a strong positive relationship between TEL use and TPACK level (r = .70, p < .01), while linear regression showed that TEL use explains 39% of the variance in TPACK development (β = 0.62, p < .001). On the other hand, qualitative data revealed that teachers perceive TEL as an approach that increases student motivation and engagement, although they encounter infrastructural barriers and a lack of consistent training. The study concludes that the systematic use of TEL positively influences the development of integrated TPACK competencies, promoting more interactive and reflective teaching. In conclusion, it is recommended to strengthen sustainable professional development policies, integrate training based on the TPACK model, and provide institutional support for the pedagogical use of technology in mathematics teaching.
