Abstract

This article contains an explanation of the theology of the Lord's Prayer taught by Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke, and at the same time discusses the Tetun people's understanding of the prayer from a cultural perspective of the Tetun language because this prayer has been translated into Tetun. Now this great prayer is known as the Amin Ama prayer and is especially familiar among those who are illiterate and live in villages, so that when praying, they can understand the meaning of the words and phrases used according to the Tetun cultural context. This article aims to explain the theology of the Lord's Prayer and the Tetun people's cultural understanding of the theology of the prayer. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with field studies through interviews and literature studies. It was found that the translation of the Amin Ama prayer uses a number of words and phrases that are not found in the Latin prayer text: Pater Noster. This indicates the efforts of missionaries before the Second Vatican Council who already had contextual theology with a translation model. They made a literal translation (ad litteram) and also continued to pay attention to the grammar and politeness of the Tetun culture in terms of language taste (ad sensum).

Abstract

The story of Jacob acquiring birthright is one of the most popular stories in the Old Testament. This story became important and popular even more so because it was from there that the forerunner of Jacob was chosen as one of the patriarchs from whom the nation of Israel was born. This story became popular also because the right and blessing was obtained Jacob in a fraudulent way. With this writing, the author wants to dig deeper into what the real intention behind the lies Jacob committed with Rebekah his mother. Is it really a lie or is there some other purpose? So what about God's role in the story? To find the thing in question, the author used two methods in the preparation of this article. The two methods are the qualitative method and the scripture interpretation method with the narrative method. From the results of the study, the author concludes that apart from the motive of lies, it turns out that the blessings and birthitudes obtained by Jacob are also one of the fulfillment of the word that God conveyed to Rebekah.

Abstract

Harls E.R. Siahaan and Johannis Siahaya offer a descriptive understanding in overcoming church diversity through the jigsaw puzzle metaphor. Metaphor, for them, becomes the basic element that forms a picture of church as a perfect and complete blueprint. This article focuses on substantively critiquing the articles of both authors as a form of dialectical continuity that unity and diversity have a broader horizon than just the jigsaw puzzle metaphor. This research uses a qualitative method with the following steps: verstehen (in-depth reading of the text), comparison, and interpretation. This research found that: (1) the explanation of the dialectical model is not explicitly elaborated, both semantically and in the paradigm of ontology; (2) the Jigsaw Puzzle metaphor becomes fragile because it is not based on the dialectical history of thought; (3) the neologisms such as: meroecclesia, somaecclesia, are not based on the history of thought and tend to favor Pentacostalism; (4) the discourse on hospitality is incommensurable with the jigsaw puzzle metaphor. This article reveals the differentiation between unity and diversity.

Abstract

Each belief system has its own mention of the Divine as the figure that governs this universe. In general, the mention of the highest figure, namely God, Allah, and gods. These names are given by adherents of certain beliefs to show their relationship with the Divine. This study aims to explain the divinity in Aluk Todolo's beliefs, especially the existence of Puang Matua (The Divine). This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, literature study, and interviews. Researchers obtained data about Aluk Todolo's beliefs through some literature and direct interviews with religious and community leaders in the Toraja area. The results of the research show that Aluk Todolo's belief has a divine figure that they worship and praise, namely Puang Matua. The adherents of Aluk Todolo always aim to unite with Puang Matua through all the rules of life that have been handed down by Puang Matua as norms that must be obeyed. Apart from that, they hope to be reunited and live with Puang Matua.

Abstract

Christian Education and Social Justice: Pursuing Shalom in the Public Sphere. Christian education is crucial in advancing social justice through a theological framework grounded in shalom. This article aims to critically examine how Christian education can serve as a transformative force amid global inequality and social fragmentation. A systematic literature review method was applied, analyzing peer-reviewed Scopus-indexed theology, education, and ethics publications. The findings reveal the need to integrate values such as reconciliation, compassion, inclusivity, and justice into Christian pedagogy, curriculum, and institutional culture. The approach includes relational learning, public religious pedagogy, and prioritizing marginalized communities through the principle of preferential options for the poor. The conclusion of this study is that shalom-based Christian education not only forms individuals with character, but also produces active agents of change in society. This study recommends that there needs to be an emphasis on the importance of the role of teachers, contextual curriculum, and public testimony as a real manifestation of the call of faith.
