Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia (increased blood sugar levels) that occurs due to defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Black cumin oil (Nigella Savita Linn) is a species in the genus Nigella, which includes about 14 species of plants that contain oily solids, namely unsaturated fatty acids, arachidic acids and eicosadienoic acids, proteins, alkaloids, saponins, essential oil. The aim of this study was to determine the antibiotic activity of black cumin oil (Nigella Savita Linn) on Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria and to determine the concentration of black cumin oil (Nigella Savita Linn) which can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. The results obtained at concentrations with concentrations of 1 mg/mL, 0.75%, 0.5%, and 0.25% have an antibiotic effect on the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria found in diabetic ulcers. The differences in the antibiotic effects of black cumin extract (Nigella Savita linn), namely concentrations of 1%, 0.75%, 0.5%, and 0.25%, have significant differences in inhibition so that it can be concluded that black cumin oil (Nigella sativa linn), significantly statistically significant (p and <0.05) inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus cholermidis in diabetic ulcers. The higher the concentration of black seed oil (Nigella sativa) the greater the inhibition zone formation.

Abstract

Paracetamol is one of the most widely used pain relievers and analgesic drugs by the public. Examination of drug concentrations in biological samples using appropriate methods is necessary to ensure drug quality and optimize drug therapy. Therefore, this literature study was conducted with the aim of determining paracetamol levels in biological samples and testing its validity with various methods. Literature research was carried out by searching for several research journal articles that had been published in 2013-2023, which were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Six journals were obtained regarding the validation of analytical methods for determining paracetamol levels in biological samples using various methods such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), Mass Spectrometry-High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC- MS), and Mass Spectrometry Ultra High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC-MS). From the above review it can be concluded that the method of analyzing paracetamol compounds in biological samples can be carried out with these four methods where the results of the analytical methods namely accuracy, selectivity, linearity, precision, LOD, and LOQ all meet the requirements or set criteria.

Abstract

In this review article, an analysis was carried out regarding the use of the Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) method in the qualitative analysis of paracetamol compounds in various biological samples such as blood, serum, hair, and urine. Paracetamol is a non-opioid analgesic drug used to relieve mild to moderate pain. The method used in writing this article is a literature study using primary data in the form of national journals from the Google Scholar and Sinta databases. The search was carried out using keywords related to the qualitative analysis of paracetamol compounds using the GC-MS method on biological samples. The purpose of reviewing this article is to compare the treatment and preparation processes of various biological samples used in the qualitative analysis of paracetamol compounds using the Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) method, such as blood, serum, hair, and urine. The results of the study of several journals showed that there were several biological samples used in the qualitative analysis of paracetamol using the GC-MS method, namely blood, serum, hair and urine. Each biological sample has different preparation and extraction procedures according to the characteristics of the matrix. It can be concluded that of the four samples, hair samples can show positive results in a longer period of time while blood and urine samples can only provide drug information for a few days.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a respiratory disorder that is contagious and is caused by an infection with the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (aerobic bacteria). Treatment of tuberculosis usually uses first-line drugs, namely isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide. The purpose of this study was to review the effectiveness of developing HPLC or UPLC methods with UV and MS detectors to review tuberculosis drug concentrations in biological blood plasma samples. The author's search method in compiling the results of a journal review regarding the development of methods for analyzing anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) in biological blood samples using databases from Google Scholar and Pubmed®. A total of 26 relevant journals will be used for discussion in the journal review. The results obtained are the most widely used method in the analysis of OAT using HPLC/UPLC mass and ultraviolet detectors in a biological sample, blood plasma. It has been reported in several studies that the UPLC method has increased sensitivity as indicated by a decrease in LOD and LOQ values compared to the HPLC method.

Abstract

Mercury or mercury (Hg) is a type of metal as an organic and inorganic compound that can be found in nature and is spread in rocks, ores, soil, water and air. Mercury in the body can be detected in biological materials such as urine, blood, breast milk and hair. This study aims to analyze the content and toxicity of mercury (Hg) in biological samples such as blood, hair, urine and breast milk with various analytical methods including CV-AAS, AAS, CV-AFS, ICP-MS, FI-CV-AAS, and Mercury Analyzers. Data collection was based on the Literature Review by collecting several published research journals both at national and international levels which were filtered according to inclusion and exclusion criteria using the PRISMA method (Preferred Reporting Item for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis). The method used depends on the needs of the analysis, its sensitivity and availability. Of the several methods used, AAS or atomic absorption spectrophotometry is the most commonly used method, because this method is simple and considered fast for analyzing mercury levels in biological samples.
