Abstract

Wedding Decoration Nana Beckham is a wedding decoration business based in Way Kanan, Lampung, which has been running for over 15 years but still lacks a strong and consistent visual identity. The absence of a visual identity makes it difficult for the business to differentiate itself from competitors and build brand awareness. This study aims to design a comprehensive visual identity system that strengthens the business’s image and expands its market reach. The design process involves observation, interviews, and SWOT analysis to understand the business's needs and characteristics. The final outcome includes key visual elements such as logo, typography, color palette, and their application across various promotional media, along with the development of a Graphic Standard Manual (GSM). The new visual identity is intended to represent the brand's aesthetic values, local culture, and professionalism, thereby enhancing its competitive advantage and increasing brand awareness.

Abstract

One of Lampung’s cultural heritage elements that deserves preservation is sulam usus, a unique embroidery technique with high historical and aesthetic value. In this context, visual identity design plays a crucial role as an effective communication tool that conveys cultural values to a broader audience. The purpose of this study is to design the visual identity of Nabilla Sulam Usus as a branding strategy to enhance brand awareness of Lampung’s traditional crafts, particularly sulam usus. The design methods employed in this study include observation, interviews with the business owner, literature review, and SWOT analysis. The design elements developed comprise logo, color scheme, typography, and visual applications across primary and secondary media, such as packaging, brochures, and social media content. The findings of this project indicate that a strong and coherent visual identity reflecting traditional values can build a professional and appealing brand image. This is expected to strengthen Nabilla Sulam Usus’s position in both local and international markets while contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage through visual communication approaches.

Abstract

Packaging design plays a strategic role in enhancing the competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), particularly for regional souvenir products in West Java. This study examines the interactive packaging redesign of the Wajit Cililin product “Chocolajit” by the SOKARYA Team, which functions as an educational medium to foster cultural awareness and responsible behavior in post-consumption packaging management. Through the integration of Sundanese culture, visual elements, and Augmented Reality (AR) technology, the packaging is designed not only to be aesthetically appealing but also to provide educational value and promote sustainability. The use of eco-friendly materials, modular design, and interactive features strengthens local identity while reducing waste. Collaboration between designers and business actors is a key factor in realizing innovative and competitive packaging that supports the growth of culture-based and sustainable creative industries.

Abstract

The Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica) is an endemic species of Indonesia currently classified as Critically Endangered, with fewer than 600 individuals remaining in the wild. Beyond its ecological role as an apex predator that maintains ecosystem balance, the tiger also holds significant cultural value within Sumatran communities. However, conservation education media specifically designed for elementary school children remain limited. This study aims to design an illustrated conservation book about the Sumatran tiger for children aged 8–9 years, who are in the concrete operational stage and highly responsive to visual learning media. Unlike previous studies that discuss children’s illustration or environmental literacy separately, this research integrates ecological content, local wisdom narratives, and a research-based design approach within a unified visual communication framework. The study employs a qualitative approach using research-based design, conducted through literature review, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis and translated into the book’s visual concept. The result is an illustrated book combining adventure storytelling, anthropomorphic character design, and local cultural elements. This research contributes to the field of Visual Communication Design by proposing a conservation-based illustrated book design model and supporting early environmental education for children.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the representation of social collectivity in the animated film Jumbo using Christian Metz’s semiotic approach. The method employed is descriptive-interpretive, with data collection techniques including visual observation and screen captures of animated film scenes. The results indicate that social collectivity is constructed through cinematic signs such as interactions in public spaces, shared activities, and cooperation among characters. The narrative structure illustrates a progression from isolation toward social integration through conflict and reconciliation. Collectivity is not merely present as an explicit message but also as a construction of meaning formed through the relationships between scenes, characters, and social spaces, thereby reinforcing the values of togetherness, solidarity, and mutual aid.
