Abstract

As a company laboratory in East Java produces waste at levels that do not meet the standards permitted by government authorities. The main problem is the COD value, NH3-N levels and pH that are not suitable. The study was conducted to reduce COD levels of NH3-N and neutralize pH with the chosen method. This study aims to determine the effect of the amount of adsorbent and the use of anion exchanger on the pH of the wastewater, the COD concentration of the wastewater, and the total ammonia concentration of the wastewater. This research begins with drying of activated carbon and activation of Silitte MA-12 anion resin. Silitte MA-12 anion resin 100 gr by soaking into the waste and adding activated carbon of 45.5%, 50.55%, 65.72%, 80.89%, and 96.05%. The analysis was carried out after 24 hours of immersion. The Silitte MA-12 resin used causes an increase in pH from 1-2 to 6-7. The results of this study are that the greater the addition of activated carbon percent does not significantly affect the final pH of the sample, the COD value produced is getting smaller from the initial value of 1592 mg/L to 40-200 mg/L with a standard value of 200 mg/L and ammonia levels. in the sample is getting smaller from the initial value of 752 mg/L to 8-90 mg/L with a standard value of 100 mg/L.

Abstract

The amount of energy needed for daily needs causes fossil energy sources to decrease, so that efforts to develop other energy sources continue to be carried out. Biomass that has undergone further processing can be a renewable energy source. Gasification is one of the processes of processing biomass into a source of energy in the form of gas, but during this process there will be a lot of tar content produced. The amount of tar content needs to be adjusted to the standard tar content in the produced gas. The purpose of this study was to determine, analyze, and understand the effect of adding a wet scrubber to the tar content produced with rice husks as biomass. The provision of water discharge variations of 1.5 lpm, 2 lpm, and 2.5 lpm, as well as the position of the nozzle which is varied in its placement into horizontal, vertical, and collaboration, aims to determine the discharge and compatible nozzle position on the gasifier, which is seen from the tar content. contained in producer gas. The results of this gasification research will be compared with the gasifier without the addition of a wet scrubber.

Abstract

One of the industries that need attention is the woven sarong industry. This industry produces liquid waste resulting from the coloring process. Indiscriminate disposal of waste will have a detrimental impact on the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to treat the waste first. The purpose of this study was to reduce the levels of COD and TSS in the colored liquid waste of the weaving sarong industry. This research uses the adsorption method using the adsorbent Zeolite activated by sulfuric acid. The concentration of sulfuric acid used was 2.5 N. The lowest COD removal percentage with a zeolite mass of 1 gram with a time of 60 minutes was 30.98% and the highest percent COD removal with a zeolite mass of 5 grams with a time of 180 minutes was 59.61% . The lowest percentage of TSS removal with a zeolite mass of 1 gram with a time of 60 minutes was 74.16% and the highest percentage of TSS removal with a zeolite mass of 5 grams with a time of 180 minutes was 94.05%.

Abstract

Tofu liquid waste is a white liquid with a thick texture derived from unused tofu production. Tofu liquid waste contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and protein, which are easily fermentable. It will pollute the environment and cause a bad smell if it is directly thrown away without prior processing. Therefore, tofu liquid waste was processed into organic liquid fertilizer. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fermentation time and sugar ratio on the levels of N, P, K The manufacture of liquid fertilizer involves a fermentation process by adding Yakult and EM-4 because both contain lactobacillus bacteria which can help the fermentation process. The sugar and coconut water were also added in a ratio of 1:0.075, 1:0.125, and 1:0.25. The process of liquid waste fermentation was carried out for 5 days, 10 days, 15 days, and 20 days. Fertilizers were tested using the Kjeldahl method for nitrogen (N) levels, spectrophotometry to determine phosphorus (P2O5) levels, and AAS (atomic absorption spectroscopy) for potassium (K2O) levels. The best levels of N, P, and K were produced from tofu waste with a fermentation process for 10 days by 0.662%, 1.133%, and 1.239%, respectively.

Abstract

A heat exchanger or commonly referred to as a heat exchanger is a tool that is commonly used in the industrial world. The function of this tool is to cool down a fluid. There are various types of heat exchangers, including shell and tube. The purpose of this research is to design a heat exchanger that is good and correct and has a fairly high effectiveness in accordance with the existing heat exchanger design rules. The object of this research is a heat exchanger with a size of OD in, 16 BWG with stainless steel material which has a counter current type which is used to cool the type of air at a temperature of 80°C to 60°C with the help of an air type fluid also at a temperature of 60°C. 30°C. The effectiveness of the tool is quite large, namely 88.7%.
