Abstract

The amount of energy needed for daily needs causes fossil energy sources to decrease, so that efforts to develop other energy sources continue to be carried out. Biomass that has undergone further processing can be a renewable energy source. Gasification is one of the processes of processing biomass into a source of energy in the form of gas, but during this process there will be a lot of tar content produced. The amount of tar content needs to be adjusted to the standard tar content in the produced gas. The purpose of this study was to determine, analyze, and understand the effect of adding a wet scrubber to the tar content produced with rice husks as biomass. The provision of water discharge variations of 1.5 lpm, 2 lpm, and 2.5 lpm, as well as the position of the nozzle which is varied in its placement into horizontal, vertical, and collaboration, aims to determine the discharge and compatible nozzle position on the gasifier, which is seen from the tar content. contained in producer gas. The results of this gasification research will be compared with the gasifier without the addition of a wet scrubber.

Abstract

Industri manufaktur baja merupakan salah satu bahan utama disetiap pembuatan alat. Baja sendiri memiliki ketebalan yang berbeda-beda sesuai dengan kegunaannya, mulai dari 1 mm-20 mm. Semakin tebal baja yang digunakan, maka proses fabrikasi terutama pemotongan baja tersebut akan semakin sulit. Pada umumnya, alat yang digunakan untuk memotong baja yang tebal adalah Gas Cutting dengan jenis gas yang digunakan berupa Oksigen dan LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas), atau bisa juga menggunakan gas Oksigen dan Acytelene, hal ini lebih efektif jika dibandingkan dengan memotong baja atau baja menggunakan gerinda potong. Tetapi operator yang mengoperasikan gas cutting ini sangat mempengaruhi kerapian hasil potongan. Dengan adanya masalah tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hasil potongan baja atau baja menggunakan gas cutting Oxy-LPG semiotomatis, dan kemudian hasil penelitian ini dibandingkan dengan hasil potongan baja atau baja menggunakan gas cutting Oxy-LPG konvensional.

Abstract

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) offer advantages such as low production costs, simple fabrication methods, and reduced toxicity compared to silicon-based solar cells, although their efficiency remains a major limitation. The aim of this review is to discuss the fundamental principles of DSSCs and evaluate the electrochemical techniques used to optimize their performance. The method employed is a narrative literature review, allowing the author to synthesize relevant literature from various sources. Current-voltage (I-V) measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) are identified as the primary tools for assessing DSSC efficiency and quality. The findings indicate that I-V measurements provide critical metrics such as efficiency and fill factor, while EIS helps identify charge transfer resistance and improves cell stability. Techniques such as voltammetry and Tafel polarization plots offer additional insights into catalytic activity and diffusivity. This review underscores the importance of electrochemical characterization in supporting efficiency improvements and the development of new materials, with EIS playing a key role in modelling cell morphology through equivalent circuit analysis.

Abstract

Chopper motorcycle frames had a fierce and macho impression on users. The frame was characterized by high handlebars, long front legs and a low seat. Chopper motorcycles were suitable for casual riding. Therefore, the Chopper frame must be specially designed or custom-made. Making the frame required a jig to maintain precision and dimensional accuracy in accordance with the original frame. Making a universal jig allowed craftsmen to make Chopper frames according to market demand without leaving the center balance on the frame. The jig manufacturing process included material selection, measurement, material cutting, machining, jig calibration, jig assembly, welding, checking and finishing. The welding process used argon TIG welding. The use of the jig shortened the frame manufacturing time by 2 times faster and minimizes wasted frame material due to dimensional errors.

Abstract

The growing energy demand in the hospitality sector highlights the urgent need for efficient and environmentally friendly renewable energy sources. This study investigates the potential for energy savings in hotel buildings through the implementation of rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems in Magelang City, with a case study at Atria Hotel. The methodology involved analyzing secondary data on solar energy potential, estimating available rooftop area, simulating PV system capacity, and evaluating energy production and economic savings based on the hotel’s laundry energy requirements. The results indicate that Magelang has substantial solar energy potential, with an average Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) exceeding 4.8 kWh/m²/day. At Atria Hotel, a rooftop PV system with a capacity of 4.58 kWp can generate approximately 6,656 kWh of electricity annually, meeting around 25% of the laundry facility’s electricity demand. This implementation translates into annual electricity cost savings of IDR 2,635,136.73. These findings demonstrate that rooftop PV systems represent a strategic solution for enhancing energy efficiency and advancing sustainable hotel development in Magelang City.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini berfokus pada pengembangan motorik anak usia dini yaitu pada murid TK dan PAUD Harapan Bunda melalui kegiatan ekserimen kimia warna sebagai permainan kreatif dalam salah satu pembelajarannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini melalui peran serta anak-anak dalam eksperimen kimia menggunakan warna dan larutan sabun dan diselingi permainan kreatif lainnya. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran dan dapat diadopsi oleh staff pendidik dalam merancang berbagai permainan kreatif untuk pengembangan motorik pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

The scarcity of clean water is predicted to become a serious threat for Indonesia in the future, particularly in regions with low rainfall, and coastal regions with limited freshwater resources. This study examined clean water provision using seawater desalination technology in Sulamu Village, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, projected until 2032. The technology used was seawater desalination powered by Photovoltaic (PV) systems, which drive the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) process. This technology was proposed as a sustainable solution to meet the clean water needs of the region. The research included an analysis of water demand, adjusted for projected population growth, and an estimation of energy consumption from the PV-SWRO system. A geometric method was applied to project the population up to 2032, estimating approximately 8.210 residents. Based on this projection, the clean water demand was expected to reach 215.769 m³ per year, with energy consumption estimated between 496 and 1.554 MWh per year. Given the abundant solar energy potential in Sulamu Village, this technology is anticipated to provide a stable and environmentally friendly supply of clean water. The estimated data on water and energy needs is intended to serve as a reference for stakeholders in developing strategies that support the sustainability of renewable energy-based desalination programs in the future.

Abstract

Piston is one of the most crucial components of an engine. The primary raw material used in piston manufacturing is aluminum alloy, with silicon being the dominant element in the composition. As aluminum metal is increasingly used in modern times, its price has risen, leading to higher costs for piston components, given that aluminum is the main raw material for pistons. To address this issue, a method is needed to minimize the use of aluminum in piston manufacturing, which can be achieved by recycling used pistons and incorporating other materials, such as silicon carbide (SiC). The addition of silicon carbide (SiC) was varied at 15%, 20%, and 25%. Hardness testing results showed that the higher the SiC content, the greater the hardness value obtained. As the hardness value increases, the wear resistance of the material improves. Based on this study, the addition of 15% SiC is optimum to achieve performance equivalent to that of a new piston of brand X.
