Abstract

This study analyzes the role of interpersonal communication in strengthening the principles of amanah (trust) and shura (deliberation) among Islamic boarding school-based sharia entrepreneurs. The case study was conducted at the Miftahul Ulum Gandok Islamic Boarding School Cooperative, Tasikmalaya, with a focus on the dynamics of internal communication, shura practices in business decision-making, and the value of ukhuwah (brotherhood) as the foundation of collective business. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document studies. The results of the study show that: (1) Open and egalitarian interpersonal communication facilitates transparency (trust) in cooperative financial management; (2) Shura forums function as a medium for conflict resolution and business innovation; (3) The value of ukhuwah strengthens the cohesiveness of members in facing market challenges. These findings contribute to sharia business literacy based on the values of the pesantren community.

Abstract

The development of Islamic economics in Indonesia has shown significant growth over the last two decades, yet it still faces challenges in strengthening its foundational normative values. This study aims to analyze the influence of Al-Ghazālī's economic thought on the development of Islamic economics, specifically within the operational context of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, examining scientific journals published within the last five to ten years to identify the relevance of Al-Ghazālī's concepts of maslahah, maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, and economic ethics in modern institutional practices. The results indicate that Al-Ghazālī’s fundamental principles, particularly regarding maslahah, distributive justice, and the function of money exert a strong influence on policy formulation, product development, and the governance of Islamic financial institutions. Various journals also confirm that maqāṣid indicators are beginning to be utilized as performance evaluation instruments for Islamic financial institutions, although their application remains non-uniform. The study concludes that Al-Ghazālī’s thought remains relevant in supporting the strengthening of the national Islamic economic paradigm; however, its implementation requires enhanced institutional capacity and methodological standardization. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating classical values into contemporary Islamic economic practices to achieve goals that are more oriented toward public welfare (maslahah) and sustainability.

Abstract

This paper examines the essential meaning of the word al-sā’il, which appears in several verses of the Qur’an. Fundamentally, this word means “to ask” or “to beg,” and in the Qur’anic context it can refer to requests of a material, non-material (informational), or combined nature. In surah al-Żāriyāt (51:19), al-sā’il is interpreted as a material beggar, which in modern terms corresponds to a pauper or beggar. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical type of library research. The collected data are organized, processed, and analyzed through exegetical, social, economic, and psychological approaches. The findings indicate three main points: first, al-saā’il denotes a material beggar; second, the meaning relates to individuals in economic hardship or those requesting on behalf of communal needs; and third, the verse emphasizes obligatory rights that should be fulfilled through charity (ṣadaqah), alms (infāq), or gifts. This study is expected to foster empathy and understanding toward beggars as fellow human beings who possess rights clearly affirmed in the Qur’an

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and religious chatbots on spiritual experiences and traditional religious power structures. The phenomenon of Spiritual Hyper-reality emerges alongside the digitalization of rituals, where the boundary between the sacred and digital simulation becomes blurred. Utilizing qualitative and phenomenological methods—specifically in-depth interviews analyzed via Moustakas or Colaizzi models—this research explores individual interactions with theological algorithms as sources for scriptural interpretation and daily worship guidance. The findings reveal four primary outcomes: First, a shift in religious authority from individuals (such as clerics) to Algorithmic Authority, which is perceived as more objective. Second, while virtual assistants can maintain emotional depth, they tend to diminish the sense of mystery in spiritual interactions. Third, automated prayer applications create a Functional Rituality, increasing the frequency of worship while reducing its perceived sanctity. Fourth, inherent data biases in AI may reduce theological diversity and exclude minority groups. In conclusion, while AI expands spiritual access, reliance on algorithms risks turning spirituality into an instant commodity. This research highlights the necessity of ethical audits for religious algorithms and enhanced digital literacy within faith communities to preserve the authenticity of spiritual experiences.
