Abstract

Neo-modernism emerged when the term post-modernism began when the term began to become a common discourse when many experts began to get displeased with the negative effects that modernity, either from the aspect of sociocultural structure or scientific aspects. Neo-modernism, if traced to its existence, is in the thoughts of Fazlur Rahman (1970). While in Indonesia itself has Neo-modernism figures namely Nurcholish Madjid and Abdurrahman Wahid. As moralists and democrats, they have a complete, comprehensive, inclusive, and even free understanding of Islam. Therefore, their ideological and political actions often cause controversy. Even if they differ in practice, they have a paradigm of Islamic thought. Since Cak Nur put forward the jargon "Islam yes" and "Partai Islam no" in the 1970s, the integration of Islam and national opinion began to surface. Since then, the struggle for Islam through cultural channels has continued, and Muslims have also begun to participate in nation-building. In 1984, when NU under the leadership of Gus Dur approved Pancasila as the only precept, the relationship between Islam and the State grew stronger.

Abstract

Rukyah and hisab have already become critical discussions in Islamic knowledge. Controversy arose, and the debate continues today. Some scholars prefer to use one method over another, while some scholars today try to offer moderate approaches for better solutions and understanding. Scholars claim both rukyah and hisab using the prophet Muhammad's hadith references. In comparison, a modest society is accessible to apply rukyah as their way to determine the new Ramadhan, and some complex cultures are multicultural, multi sects, or have a wide coverage area. This complexity will affect the observation process's difficulty, accuracy, and potential differences. This situation needs sensible solutions to determine the new Ramadhan. This paper tries to elaborate on each approach used by scholars and authorities, its preconditions, and how the approaches should be moderated to determine the new moon optimally by developing a strategy that gives mutual feedback to each method.

Abstract

The scholarly world is a divine devotion. It needs time and effort to be consistent and persistent in improving the understanding of society. The more literate society, the more hope for a better environment. Today's world needs more scholarly work not just to amaze the concept but also can impact society. Women's roles in education are tremendous to take learning environment from an early age. The references about women scholars are so limited that we will assume there is the little impact made. This paper shows how women's intellectual influence has made a massive contribution since the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) period. The shift in women's roles is contextual and depends on the understanding of society and the development progress of the education ecosystem itself. We hope the tremendous past work can inspire us to build an advanced learning society to improve the education process today.

Abstract

COVID-19 as a pandemic was both disturbing and shocking. While people were so confused and lost direction on how to deal with it, they also panicked and tried every way to make themselves and their relatives safe. People develop procedures that require advanced equipment to support those high-cost and complex procedures. People prioritize cleanliness in order to maintain a safe environment. Elaborating tafseer Al-Maidah verse 6 can be a constructive alternative to maintaining cleanliness. The cleanliness standard procedure in Islam was simplified, but it maintained obedience's deep meaning. Ablution (wudu) is the main procedure with preconditions and also offers alternatives for specific conditions. Water and dry sand (clean earth) are hygiene agents for cleanliness procedures and purification.

Abstract

The idea of reforming Islamic education has developed massively in 1918-1930 in Minangkabau. The role of Sumatra Thawalib in comprehensively renewing Islam has provided a major breakthrough in solving socio-political, economic and social issues. Sumatra Thawalib's significant role was born from its main role in the education sector. Even further, Sumatra Thawalib has provided a treasure trove of Islamic renewal ideas that rely on the purification movement which also provides wide space for the opening of constructive ijtihad doors that impress on social civilization. This article was written so that discussions about Sumatra Thawalib can continue to be enriched so that we can get various points of view and alternative narratives. Limited references are also a serious challenge in compiling this article.
