Abstract

This research-based community service program aimed to create a series of LED grow lights for the “Sidomulyo Hydroponics” business, which increased hydroponic plant growth and improved the quality and quantity of hydroponic plants. The activity included creating a series of UV LED grow lights with radiation technology that stimulated the hydroponic plants' growth to help increase the harvest period, quality, and quantity of the plants (mustard). The methods used in implementing this research-based service were tool and material preparation, circuit design and ultraviolet LED grow light radiation setting, material and training presentation, and examination of the effect of UV grow light radiation on hydroponic plants. Experiments revealed that growing mustard plants under LED grow lights is one week faster, including harvest time.

Abstract

Batik is valued as the Indonesian nation’s identity and a part of Indonesian culture, specifically Javanese culture. There are various batik types, usually named after their origin place; one of them is Lasem's batik. Anugrah Art Batik, a member of micro-small-medium-enterprises, MSMEs, is one of Lasem's batik businesses that produce various written batik that serves orders for batik uniforms and designs in Kasreman Village, Rembang Regency, and Central Java. The challenges faced by Anugrah Art Batik are the lack of marketing management and business legality. Inadequate marketing resulted in lower-than-optimal sales. A community service program was carried out to help overcome the problems through Business Work Lectures, including creating banners and signs for the business, making batik catalog books, digital marketing by creating Facebook and Instagram accounts and managing business legality. The four programs were expected to increase sales according to the business target and hoped that it would be able to compete by continuing to develop its businesses.

Abstract

Schools have used an online learning system during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, several schools are still not covered by cellular services due to their remote locations. The community service activity aimed to provide alternative solutions and support for the online learning and teaching activities at Muhammadiyah elementary school in Tlogolelo, Hargomulyo village, located in Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. The main issue was that not all students could participate in online learning because of poor cellular signals in the area, which hampered internet access. Furthermore, some students had limited resources to support infrastructure for online learning, namely because they did not have smartphones or had to take turns with their siblings or parents. The main program implemented was the procurement and installation of supporting facilities to utilize and optimize the existence of Radio Voice Education. The community service team provided several radio receivers, including FM radios for underprivileged students and Android smartphone devices to assist teachers in creating radio-based learning content. Several activities to increase teacher capacity in creating educational content based on FM community radio were also included in this program, such as socialization and training on the use of Android-based podcast applications, Anchor FM, and Spotify, as well as assistance in making FM community radio-based learning- content.
