Abstract

Abstract The number of coffee shops today is inseparable from the third wave in the coffee supply chain, especially the growth of specialty coffee in recent times. Sustainability is a key goal for all sectors, including supply chain soldering standards in coffee shops. Many Baristas don't understand the importance of sustainability in coffee shops and their management. To improve sustainability so that it aligns with ethical business skills and behavior, it is important to apply continuing education to the concept of Baristas thinking, understand their philosophy as coffee makers and connect all stakeholders in the coffee supply chain with consumers who need this information. This curriculum is delivered together with additional coaching, assessment, and interviews at the end of the activity to measure the knowledge of the Barista. The current object for this research is the Barista at The Coffee Lab Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The results give a positive value, where the effectiveness of the curriculum assessment results implemented through this counseling service has a very good impact where all Baristas pass the assessment, with the average practice exam assessment for all Baristas is 87.08, while the total average for the written exam is 84.42. From the interviews conducted with Baristas, most of the Baristas said that further knowledge through "Introduction to Coffee" has had a positive impact on building a sustainability framework in their reflection and practice of their profession. Keywords: Specialty Coffee, Barista Skills, Coffee Supply Chain, Quality Control AbstraksiJumlah kedai kopi saat ini tidak terlepas dari gelombang ketiga dalam rantai pasokan kopi, terutama pertumbuhan kopi spesialti akhir-akhir ini. Keberlanjutan adalah tujuan utama untuk semua sektor, termasuk solder standar rantai pasokan di kedai kopi. Banyak Barista yang belum memahami pentingnya keberlanjutan di kedai kopi dan ranah manajemen mereka. Untuk meningkatkan keberlanjutan sehingga selaras dengan keterampilan dan perilaku dalam bisnis yang etis, penting untuk menerapkan pendidikan berkelanjutan dalam konsep pemikiran Barista, memahami filosofi mereka sebagai pembuat kopi dan menghubungkan semua pemangku kepentingan dalam rantai pasokan kopi dengan konsumen yang membutuhkan informasi ini. Kurikulum ini disampaikan bersamaan dengan tambahan coaching, assessment, dan interview di akhir kegiatan untuk mengukur materi pengetahuan Barista. Objek saat ini untuk penelitian ini adalah Barista di The Coffee Lab Dubai, Uni Emirat Arab. Hasilnya memberikan nilai positif, dimana fektivitas hasil penilaian kurikulum yang diterapkan melalui layanan konseling ini memberikan dampak yang sangat baik dimana Semua Barista lulus dalam penilaian, dengan rata-rata penilaian ujian praktek semua Barista adalah 87,08, sedangkan total rata-rata untuk ujian tertulis adalah 84,42. Dari wawancara yang dilakukan dengan Barista, sebagian besar Barista mengatakan bahwa pengetahuan lebih lanjut melalui "Pengenalan Kopi – Introduction to Coffee" telah berdampak positif membangun kerangka keberlanjutan dalam refleksi dan praktik mereka terhadap profesi mereka. Kata kunci: Kopi Spesial, Keterampilan Barista, Rantai Pasokan Kopi, Kontrol Kualitas

Abstract

In uncertain conditions, the current pandemic has forced all schools to adopt the new pedagogy approach. It makes every student and teacher adapt to a renewable education system through hybrid learning. Therefore, it is aligned with teaching and learning activities and the essential competencies required for each school to implement and make this program a success. Moreover, through the hybrid system, it is necessary to experiment with a system of teaching and learning activities in Arabic language science, Islamic Studies, and memorising Tahfidz al-Quran, which has been taking place in the past semesters at SMA Islam Ibnu Umar Tangerang Selatan. The existence of good cooperation between students' teachers and other stakeholders from the family will help the success of this program, and it is expected that it will be sustainable in the long term.

Abstract

The crowds of specialty coffee in Saudi Arabia have made this country one of the specialty coffee Meccas in the Middle East. Several national and global events have made Saudi Arabia a country visited by many international coffee professionals and professional coffee workers working in Saudi Arabia. Especially with the 2022 Year of Saudi Coffee, Saudi Arabia has also become a significant player in the coffee value chain in the Middle East, counterbalancing the UAE in its role in the global coffee market. One of the challenges is sustainability in the coffee area in Buraidah, where coffee professionals such as baristas and cup tasters have an essential role in maintaining consistency of presentation skills and customer engagement which are the benchmarks and represent specialty coffee as one of its goals. Therefore, with the curriculum used through the Coffee Skills Program and the Coffee Sustainability Program from the Specialty Coffee Association. The author provides training and counselling to calibrate knowledge in coffee from the skills and behaviour of coffee professionals to achieve sustainability in the coffee value chain area and sustain core business more profound. Moreover, to strengthen the local economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The vast number of coffee roasteries opened in Dubai is a unique highlight of how regulations serve, following how sustainability impacts society. The author performed this case study based on data pertained as a coffee roaster at The Coffee Lab Dubai. Delineated qualitatively and revealed the retail resilience of The Coffee Lab as one of the most sustainable businesses in the UAE. In this case study, the author used to collect the data from the work area at The Coffee Lab, such as coffee production and all things related to the business establishment since its opening until March 23, 2020. Since the first day of work, the author collected the data and recorded manually through the Microsoft Excel for the actual numbers in daily closing, especially in coffeeshop's consumption. The author is the certified Person in Charge (PIC) of The Coffee Lab and Authorized Specialty Coffee Association Trainer (AST) for roasting. The Coffee Lab used to do more production in roasting and has been continuously supplied an enormous number of coffee shops in the UAE and the GCC countries. By March 2020, the show reached an average of 1.2 tons/month. Using the Loring F15, saving the emission of gas more than the usual coffee roaster machine, the capacity of 15kg was quite good enough for daily production from 70 -200kg. Meanwhile, the most important of the coffee roastery as well as the plan of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Path (HACCP), which should be well-approved by the Dubai Municipality Coffee production, specifically roasting, has long fallen under the radar when it comes to food safety concerns at manufacturing facilities, and for the coffee roasters who operated them. Anyone who helped set up or maintain written food safety plans for a roasting operation knows that one of the critical elements is a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Path (HACCP) plan." (Ebert, 2017) One of the examples is The Coffee Lab which is located in the Port Rashid region, which is unique compared to coffee roasteries in the UAE, where many coffee roasteries are established in industrial areas to protect the environment and community safety. The Coffee Lab maintains online sales through e-commerce service with an average of 10-30 orders daily for roasted coffee sales or accessories for personal or business to business consumption. The coffee roastery is trying to keep the resilience to bring the green coffee from farmers as a producer and doing production in roasting and maintain its existence to continue and develop the business in the downtown area out of the industrial city. The coffee roastery itself has been run for the past three years and still growing with a good number of daily production year to year.

Abstract

This paper is a study of the book "Syam Saat Itu" written by Kurniawan Arif Maspul; a collection of the author's travel notes during his one month visit to Syria in 2013 to distribute humanitarian aid from the Indonesian community through the Syrian Medical Mission (Misi Medis Suriah - MMS). When this book was written up to the time this review was compiled, Syria was a bloody conflict field that killed thousands of victims and forced millions of civilians to become refugees in various neighbouring countries and mainland Europe. This article focuses on the aspects of religion (التدين) and humanity (الانسانية) contained in the book "Syam Saat Itu". Through the book, the article reveals that in every conflict situation, we will always find alternative aspects that each party contributes to without being directly involved in the conflict.

Abstract

Today’s number of coffee shops is inseparable from the third-wave in the coffee supply chain, especially the recent growth of specialty coffee. Sustainability is the main goal for all sectors, including the standardised solder of the supply chain in the coffee shop. Numerous Baristas do not yet understand the importance of sustainability in their coffee bar and management realm. To raise sustainability so that it is aligned with skills and behaviour in ethical business, it is essential to apply sustainable education in the Barista concept of thinking, understand their philosophy as coffee brewers and connect all stakeholders in the coffee supply chain to consumers who need this information. This issue is a sustainability challenge for Barista to be strengthened by knowledge. The continuation of a blended curriculum for professional coffee through the coffee skills program of the Specialty Coffee Association with the “Introduction to Coffee” module will eliminate the barrier of deficiencies for Baristas. It makes Barista’s existence an agent of change in bringing sustainability to the coffee supply chain. This curriculum was delivered along with additional coaching, assessment, and interview at the end of the activity to measure material for Barista knowledge. The current object for this study was Barista at The Coffee Lab Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Abstract

Hail adalah salah satu kota tertua di Arab Saudi dan pusat perdagangan di semenanjung Arab sejak abad ke-18, menjadikannya kota warisan terkenal di Arab Saudi dan salah satu area perdagangan penting hingga sekarang. Beberapa pengunjung lokal dan internasional yang datang ke Hail selalu menjadikan situs warisan sebagai magnet yang juga membantu pertumbuhan ekonomi kreatif baru di wilayah utara Arab Saudi; kopi spesial. Kopi spesial adalah tren utama saat ini, pilihan yang banyak diminati oleh anak muda di seluruh dunia, tidak terkecuali Arab Saudi. Persoalannya di sini apakah bisnis ini akan berkelanjutan dengan persaingan dari bisnis kopi global yang juga bermain di kawasan. Akankah ekonomi kreatif lokal berkelanjutan dengan pangsa pasar kopi lokal dengan budaya minum kopi Arab yang berbeda? Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan wawancara dengan para pelaku dalam rantai nilai kopi dan observasi yang diolah dari analisis wawancara di Hail pada Juni 2022. Kreativitas komunitas kopi lokal diharapkan dapat bersinergi dengan komunitas kopi global melalui penelitian, pelatihan dan pengembangan regional.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi telah memudahkan manusia secara global, termasuk pendidikan, terutama di masa pandemi, di mana beberapa kampus yang menawarkan sertifikat setingkat sarjana siap menghadapi tantangan dan hambatan yang muncul di seluruh dunia. Hal tersebut juga dapat dirasakan oleh banyak kampus lain yang mulai beralih mengadopsi perkuliahan online agar operasional belajar mengajar tetap berjalan sebagaimana mestinya. Selain itu, terdapat beberapa tantangan bagi banyak orang yang belum terbiasa menghadapi kelas online, yang menuntut diadakannya manajemen waktu yang tepat, komitmen dan konsistensi dalam mengikuti perkuliahan pada waktunya masing-masing agar dapat menyelesaikan studi hingga selesai. Abstract

Indonesia memiliki sejarah kependidikan yang sebelumnya dicontoh oleh negara-negara lain dan dengan perubahan revolusi industrial 4.0 dimana disini menjadikan Indonesia berada di posisi yang tidak memuaskan. Pendidikan di Indonesia membutuhkan system yang sustainable dan berkemajuan mengikuti zaman, namun masih banyak kekurangan dan perbedaan yang signifikan dari banyaknya sekolah yang tersebar di Indonesia. Peranan pemangku kepentingan diperlukan dalam merestrukturisasi sustainability dari pendidikan Indonesia itu sendiri, dan pentingnya dari peranan pemerintah dalam urgensinya untuk menyetarakan fasilitas dan menstandarisasikannya setara se-Nusantara. Abstract

Artikel ini mengambil pendekatan unik untuk mengeksplorasi potensi manfaat dan risiko konsumsi kopi spesial pada kesehatan mental dan kesejahteraan dengan menggabungkan pengamatan pribadi para profesional dan penggemar kopi di Arab Saudi. Penulis melakukan tinjauan literatur terhadap artikel peer-review dan berbincang dengan profesional kopi lokal untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang peran budaya kopi spesial dalam mempromosikan hubungan sosial dan keterlibatan masyarakat. Penulis menemukan bahwa budaya kopi spesial di Arab Saudi berkembang pesat, berfokus pada keberlanjutan, sumber etis, dan tanggung jawab sosial. Pengalaman indrawi dalam menyiapkan dan mengonsumsi kopi spesial diamati memiliki efek terapeutik, meningkatkan kesadaran dan relaksasi. Namun, penulis juga mengidentifikasi potensi risiko konsumsi kopi berlebihan, termasuk kecanduan kafein, gangguan pola tidur, dan kecemasan. Artikel tersebut menyimpulkan bahwa mempertahankan pendekatan yang seimbang dan moderat terhadap konsumsi kopi sangat penting untuk menghindari efek berbahaya ini. Secara keseluruhan, artikel ini menawarkan perspektif yang segar dan berwawasan tentang dampak kopi spesialti yang kompleks dan beragam pada kesehatan mental dan kesejahteraan, memberikan wawasan yang berharga bagi para profesional, penggemar, dan peneliti kopi.
