Abstract

Badi Island is a small island in the Spermonde island cluster in the waters of the Makassar Strait. It is included in the administrative areas of Pankajene and Islands Regency, Liukang Tupabiling District, and Mattiro Dechen Village in Indonesia, South Sulawesi. A tornado hit Buddy Island in 2019, and a lot of household trash was dumped on the beach. Mitigation measures are one way to reduce the effects of disasters. Disaster management on Badi Island, which is part of the Regional Marine Conservation Area of Pankajen Island Regency and Islands, is carried out by the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Pankajene Island Regency. This study aims to gain a better understanding of how natural disasters can be mitigated on Badi Island by considering the context of the community. Where a comprehensive understanding of natural disaster mitigation on the fragile island is still lacking. The number of disasters that occur is very high. Disasters can happen at any time. Analytical descriptive research methods were used in this study. Results show that many programs and activities are not implemented, as well as poor planning, disaster preparedness education, and lack of response from authorities. In addition, the most significant operational barriers are inadequate human resources, lack of infrastructure and equipment, limited capital, driven by a lot of external support, and lack of equipment and infrastructure.

Abstract

Plastic waste is currently a threat to the preservation of biological natural resources. Central and regional governments have made many efforts to manage this waste. DKI Jakarta is a coastal city with an island-like area in the north, especially in the Thousand Islands. This island is a regional asset and its existence must be preserved. Islands can function as ecological resources that provide environmental services to the surrounding area. The aim is to provide information to the public regarding the current status of the 4,444 sinking islands and provide recommendations to stakeholders in efforts to restore these 4,444 islands. This is important to ensure that all these islands do not disappear from world historical records.

Abstract

Abstract Plastic pollutes our planet and harms the oceans, endangering human health and destroying ecosystems that are essential to our livelihoods. Our oceans have faced serious threats from marine debris, also known as "marine debris," which has disturbed and attracted global attention for its ecological impacts. , economical , and extensive health. The research used is descriptive in nature which aims to describe the conditions in coastal and marine areas. The problem of marine waste has a huge impact because most of the waste is plastic which is difficult to decompose. Data from the UN Ocean Conference in New York, USA in 2017 shows that plastic waste in the ocean has killed around 1 million seabirds, 100,000 marine mammals, as well as a number of fish and turtles. . Meanwhile, World Wildlife Fund Indonesia (WWF) research shows that up to 25% of marine fish species contain microplastics. This microplastic material is obtained from marine debris measuring <5 mm and consumed by plankton which is the main food source for fish in the ocean. Talking about Indonesia, data from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Oceanographic Research Center (P2O) shows that every year, Indonesia's oceans are estimated to receive 70-80% of plastic waste originating from human consumer activities. toxic chemicals, some of which are found in the open ocean Keywords: sea plastic, beaches, and rubbish

Abstract

Abstract Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has many bays and straits. Indonesia has a lot of huge potential in its seas. The Makassar Strait shows strong potential because it has a constant and high temperature, especially in the surface layer of the water. There are several types of energy resources that come from sea water, including tidal energy, energy from ocean waves, and ocean tide energy. Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion is a form of renewable energy developed by Indonesia which is a method of converting solar thermal energy by utilizing the cycle of sea surface temperature with temperature at depth. One of the technologies resulting from OTEC is marine thermal power plants. OTEC's performance will not be able to withstand sea storms beyond its time. The potential for OTEC in Indonesian maritime areas can reach 2.5 x 1023 joules. The marine thermal energy conversion efficiency is 3% which produces 240,000 MW of electricity.. OTEC can be used as alternative energy in the long term when fossil fuels, natural gas and other energy are in short supply. Environmentally friendly energy and unlimited availability. Cost is a factor that needs to be considered when implementing OTEC, where there are development models, maintenance costs and large accommodation costs. In addition, OTEC has relatively low engine efficiency when compared to other power plants. The potential possessed by the waters of the Makassar Strait is obtained at the location point at coordinates 01°01'51"N - 120°13'21"E with a floating plant platform with a distance from the beach of 18.63 km with a clean power of 13.40 MW. Key words: Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion, Renewable Energy, Makassar Strait.

Abstract

Global Warming with climate change related to long-term changes in temperature and weather patterns. These changes occur naturally, for example through changes in the solar cycle. However, since the 19th century, human activities have been the main trigger for climate change, especially due to the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas. Burning fossil fuels creates greenhouse gases which act like a blanket on the earth, generating heat from the sun and increasing temperatures. This climate change has significant consequences for maritime transportation zones. Maritime transportation involves the shipping of ships or the movement of passengers or cargo between ports throughout the world. So, in this research, we want to look at the correlation between climate change and shipping and its consequences. This research uses a literature review and qualitative descriptive analysis. The research results show that there is a correlation between climate change and sea transportation. The consequences of climate change include changes in traffic flow patterns, danger, damage to infrastructure such as ports, traffic lane efficiency and accidents in maritime transportation. Considering that these consequences impact shipping operations, preventive measures need to be taken, one of which is improving shipping safety. Not only that, urgent efforts are needed to use environmentally friendly ships, improve infrastructure and long-term shipping technology and share learning about environmentally friendly ships. .Keywords : Climate, Infrastructure, Transportation

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology designed to create computer systems that are able to imitate human intellectual abilities. As time progresses, the potential demand for sea transportation increases. Managing the increase in cargo and containers in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner is currently a major challenge for port operators and the logistic industry. In addition, port operators are not only facing an increasing increase in ship traffic. On the other hand, logistics distribution flow data is an absolute thing that must be managed well by maritime world stakeholders. The only solution to all these problems and challenges is to maximize the role of artificial intelligence-based technology and information systems in the maritime environment or what we often call Artificial Intelligence (AI). Therefore, this research aims to analyze and explore the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support port operations in Indonesia.

Abstract

Ocean waves are a more predictable resource with a higher energy density compared to the sun and wind. Wave energy is also a type of renewable energy and is the largest estimated form of global resource from Ocean Energy. One of the Renewable Energies is the reduction technique, which is a floating device that moves effectively following the direction of the waves. This technology will be combined with Floating Breakwater. Floating Breakwater is an advanced level of Breakwater that is built by floating or floating using mooring ropes or mooring as a barrier so that the building is not carried away by the current. With various similarities that exist in both of them are the same floating, so this Floating Breakwater can generate electrical energy using ocean wave energy, therefore this attenual Floating Breakwater is considered effective because on the other hand it can be a beach protection building by reducing wave energy and converting wave energy into electrical energy through generators that are at the bottom and bottom end of the mooring or mooring rope. With this type of technology, it will be easier to adjust to the characteristics of the sea that will be used.

Abstract

Coastal communities are residents who live and carry out socio-economic activities related to coastal and marine resources. Thus, narrowly coastal communities have a relatively high dependence on the potential and conditions of origin of coastal and oceanic power. Their condition is very related to using how the state of origin of the power around them. The majority of people in coastal areas of Indonesia are engaged in the profession as fishermen who have been inherited from previous generations. Coastal communities have diverse socio-economic activities, ranging from farming, trading, and fishing. However, coastal people tend to work as fishermen. This activity results in the origin of aquatic resources in the sea as the main target of the community to meet the needs of life, both meeting family consumption needs and for commercial. The economic activities of coastal residents tend to work as fishermen. In addition to being faced with directly using their resources in the sea, fishermen have been hereditary among coastal communities. The purpose of writing this time is to find out how the activities of coastal residents in the socio-economic aspects of the people. The development of coastal tourism can also affect social change in coastal communities. Beach tourism can broaden people's horizons and knowledge about culture, environment, and sustainability. The impact of coastal tourism development on the socioeconomic conditions of coastal communities can vary depending on various factors, such as good management, community participation, and sustainability of tourism development.

Abstract

Meeting public demand for high quality food is greatly influenced by good fisheries production. Quality fisheries production is influenced by the availability of fish food. In this context, the aquaculture sector has experienced significant growth and has great potential to meet the need for high quality fishery products throughout the world. However, investment is needed in developing local raw materials and reducing dependence on imports to overcome the problem of availability of fish feed raw materials, especially fish meal. In this effort, fish meal certification will ensure the quality of fish feed raw materials, which in turn improves the overall quality of fisheries production. In addition, the use of digital technology in the fisheries sector has played an important role in increasing production, ensuring environmental sustainability, and supporting the economy of coastal communities. However, the government, fisheries farmers and other related parties must work together to achieve the best results. The use of this technology is also driven by the development of digital infrastructure, education and training. Fisheries have great potential to become a sustainable economic force, maintain environmental sustainability, and provide great benefits to coastal communities and people around the world by combining high-quality fisheries production, development of local raw materials, and responsible application of digital technology. In conclusion, digitally based safe and environmentally friendly high-quality fisheries are an important step to achieve this goal.
