Abstract

This research regarding the effect of solid decanter and oil palm bunch compost on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery has been carried out at the Dharmasraya UNAND campus 3 experimental garden, from November 2019 to May 2020. The research objective was to obtain interactions between solid decanter and oil palm bunch compost and getting the best dose of solid decanter and oil palm bunch compost for the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. This study used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of two factors with four treatment levels. The first factor is solid decanter (0 g/polybag, 300 g/polybag, 600 g/polybag, and 900 g/polybag) and the second factor is oil palm bunch compost (0 g/polybag, 750 g/polybag, 1500 g/polybag, and 2250 g/poly bag). The variables observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length, and leaf width. The results showed that there was an interaction between solid decanter and oil palm bunch compost on plant height, stem diameter, leaf length and leaf width. The treatment dose of 300 g/polybag solid decanter and 750 g/polybag of palm oil bunch compost showed the best growth in each variable.

Abstract

Sorghum is one of the alternative food crop that can be developed as an effort for food diversify. One of the efforts that can be done for the development of sorghum is by using several genotypes and planting distance. This study aims to determine the growth and yield of several genotypes of sorghum at various planting distances. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University, Padang, from January to May 2022. This study used an experimental method with a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consising of 2 factors. The first factor was the planting distance of the plants which consist of three levels, namely 70 cm x 10 cm, 70 cm x 20 cm and 70 cm x 30 cm. The second factor was the genotype which consist of three genotypes, namely genotype 76-1, genotype 103-1 and Bioguma5Agritan genotype. The data were analyzed by F test and if the calculated F value is greater than F table 5%, then it is continued with the Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that the genotypes produced the same growth and yield. Planting distance of 70 cm x 30 cm had the best effect on stem diameter, panicle lenght, panicle fresh weight, dry seed weight per panicle and 1000 seed weight.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in growth and yield of Indigo Rose black tomato plants at two different altitudes. The research was conducted in October 2018 until January 2019 in two different locations. The first location in Bulakan Balai Kandi Village, West Payakumbuh, Payakumbuh City with an altitude of 500 m above sea level (asl) and the second location in Jorong Koto Laweh Puncak Alai, Tanjung Alam Subdistrict Tanjung Baru, Tanah Datar Regency with an altitude of 1300 m asl. This study used the experimental method in two different locations, quantitative data obtained from the observations were analyzed by independent t test at the level of 5%. The parameters observed were plant height, age of first flower appearance, number of productive branches, stem diameter, age of first harvest, number of fruits per plant, fruit diameter and weight of fruit per plant. The results showed that there were differences in growth and yield of Indigo Rose black tomato plants at two different altitudes. The best growth and yield of Indigo Rose black tomato plants is grown in the highlands.

Abstract

Research in the form of a field experiment on "Growth Response of Pepper Seedlings (Piper ningrum Linn) on Giving Several Doses of Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) Banana Weevil" has been carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University, West Sumatra, Tanjung Gadang sub-district, West Payakumbuh sub-district, Payakumbuh City at an altitude location ± 514 meters from sea level, soil type Inseptisol. Implementation of this field trial will start from August 2022 to November 2022. The design used in the experiment was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications so that there were 20 replications in total, in each replication there were 4 polybags of pepper plants, 2 of which were used as sample plants so that the total number of plants was 80 polybags. Each polybag contains 1 plant. Observations were carried out at 4 weeks after planting at intervals of once a week. The results of the observation data were averaged and analyzed statistically using the F test at a significance level of 5%. The treatments given were as follows: 0 ml POC banana weevil/planting, 20 ml POC banana weevil/planting, 40 ml POC banana weevil/planting, 60 ml POC banana weevil/planting and 80 ml POC banana weevil/planting. The observation parameters carried out on pepper seedlings were when shoots appeared, plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, longest leaf length, widest leaf width, primary root length, plant wet weight and plant dry weight. From the experimental results, it can be concluded that administering liquid organic fertilizer (POC) at a dose of 60 ml/plant and a dose of 80 ml/plant provides the best response to the growth of pepper plant seeds.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascolanicum L.) is one of the horticultural crops that is widely consumed by humans. This study aims to obtain interaction the type of mulch and doses of chicken manure on the growth and yield of shallots. This Research was conducted at Panai Pasir Talang , Muara Labuh, South Solok Regency with a height of ± 430 meters above sea level, in December 2018 to February 2019. The research method is an experiments used factorial complete randomized design with two factors. Factors I is the type of mulch (black plastic mulch, silver plastic mulch, rice straw mulch) and factors II is chicken manure (10 tons / ha, 20 tons / ha and 30 tons / ha).. The results showed that there was no interaction between the use of several types of mulch with chicken manure doses on the growth and yield of shallots. The use of black plastic mulch yielded the best results on fresh tuber weight per plot and per hectare of onion namely 1,643 kg / plot and 11.74 tons / ha. The dose of chicken manure of 20 tons / ha gave the best influence on plant height, number of leaves, fresh tuber weight per clump, per plot and per hectare as well as wind dry weight per clump, per plot and per hectare of onion.
