Abstract

The emergence of TikTok social media can be used as a tool to improve personal branding. Although many students use this application, not all use it to build personal branding. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the use of TikTok social media and strategies in improving the personal branding of students of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program, Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Islamic State University, Padangsidimpuan. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with the theory of personal branding self prasentation from Tom Peters as the knife of analysis. The results of this study found that the use of TikTok social media is still not effective in building personal branding by students and the tendency to use TikTok without the right strategy. The significance of this finding indicates that TikTok is not used to build personal branding of students that matches the profile of their graduates, only 13 out of 45 informants are active in creating personal branding content that is in accordance with the profile of graduates. This study recommends the importance of strengthening the skills of students of the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program, Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Islamic State University, Padangsidimpuan to manage TikTok social media through the content of practicum courses and practices directly in the laboratory.

Abstract

In the current era of communication and information which is marked by the rise of mass media as a means of mass communication and a means of forming public opinion, missionaries and da'wah activists have used the mass media as a means of preaching. Dakwah is not only carried out verbally, but can be done through written media such as books, novels, short stories, and comics. Comics have now developed as a popular media in constructing discourse or public opinion that can describe people's lives. Although many media have sprung up to express criticism and information, the appeal of comics is not inferior to other media. The packaging of stories and communication messages that are funny, interesting, and light makes comics very popular. Da'wah messages are conveyed through narration, dialogue, and pictures contained in comics. Comics as a medium of da'wah are able to reach a wider audience, especially the younger generation who tend to be more interested in visual media. Da'wah messages also show that the use of persuasive techniques in comics can strengthen the preaching messages conveyed. Persuasive techniques such as using authority figures, using humor, and using emotions can influence readers to adopt Islamic values conveyed in comics. Comics as a medium of da'wah can be an effective alternative for conveying persuasive da'wah messages to the public, especially the younger generation. Da'wah messages can be conveyed through various themes and effective persuasive techniques. Become a reference material for comic creators and da'wah content creators to create content that is effective in conveying persuasive da'wah messages.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the representation of family values in the web series titled "Mengalah untuk Melangkah" which aired on the Wardah Ramadan Series YouTube channel in Ramadan 2025.  This series has attracted the attention of YouTube users with 4.2 million views. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with Charles Sanders Peirce semiotic analysis technique. The Charles Sanders Peirce analysis technique applied in this study consists of three aspects known as the triadic structure: Reprecentamen (sign), Interpretant, and Object. The results showed that there is a representation of family values in the web series “Mengalah untuk Melangkah” including, preventing sin, helping family members, fostering cooperation, respecting the family, a sense of attention, compassion, responsibility and mutual help, as well as understanding and supporting the decisions of family members.

Abstract

This study examines how leadership character is developed during childhood through the Children Communication Forum in Trenggalek Regency, and how social media is utilized as a platform for expression and learning. From childhood to adolescence, adulthood, and parenthood, every individual undergoes a growth process. Early childhood requires proper Islamic character education to support successful development in the future. One of the key traits that may emerge is Islamic leadership. The purpose of this study is to explore how early personality development influences the creation of a better future. Even when children are given full control of an organization, managing it and sharing its activities via social media can help them develop leadership and communication skills, as well as boost their confidence. This research employs a qualitative method with a sociological approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation of forum activities, and monitoring the forum's official social media accounts. The study is based on the theory of social leadership, which asserts that leaders are not born but made through preparation, education, and training. With the right guidance and opportunities for self-expression, including through social media, anyone can choose to become a leader.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the framing in the coverage of the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election in the 18 November 2024 edition of TribunJatim.com, with a focus on the latest debate discussing economic and infrastructure issues. Using Robert N. Entman's framing theory, this research identifies how the media defines problems, diagnoses their causes, makes moral decisions, and emphasizes solutions. The results of the analysis show that TribunJatim.com frames development and economic problems as the main issue, with solutions that focus on equitable development policies. This research provides insight into the role of the media in shaping public opinion regarding the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election.
