Abstract

Education plays an important role in building the quality of life for Indonesians, especially through character building from an early age. Character education aims to instill moral values and good behavior, such as politeness, honesty, and religiosity. However, the role of parents in character building at SD Inpres Langawai, Lidi Village, Palue District, has not been optimal. Observations show poor student behavior, such as a lack of discipline and respect for teachers, which is caused by the limited involvement of parents in guiding their children at home. Economic factors lead parents to focus more on meeting basic needs, leaving character education of children largely to the school. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to describe the role of parents and teachers in shaping children's character. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that parents tend to direct children through words without providing real examples. Teachers at SD Inpres Langawai play a significant role in educating students' character through various educational programs, although parental support is crucial to achieving optimal results. Collaboration between parents and teachers is needed to create a conducive environment for strong character development in children so that they can grow into individuals who contribute positively to society. This study emphasizes the importance of communication and cooperation between parents and teachers in effectively shaping children's character.

Abstract

Textbooks are one of the media used in learning science. This study aims to analyze the Indonesian textbooks on health and disease in terms of scientific literacy and socio-scientific issues in content, context, and assessment. The analysis used the review method in the food and digestive system sub-chapter found in eighth graders. It found that the content and context subchapter contains the scientific literacy competency and socio-scientific issues related to Indonesian students' daily lives. While the assessment contains scientific literacy with low to high cognitive demand, it lacks socio-scientific issues. Also, the inquiry aspect of this textbook only contains guided inquiry and lacks open inquiry. Therefore, teachers can adjust that guided inquiry to open inquiries because the curriculum does not prohibit this. This study proposes a learning strategy to improve the ability of students in the scientific literacy aspect to face PISA 2025, with some limitations on analyzing textbooks and the curriculum used nowadays.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Learning in modern times has undergone significant development. The learning process is no longer teacher-centered but student-centered. As educators, we must be able to design learning materials that align with the advancing technology. Currently, if learning is only teacher-centered and presented with theoretical explanations, students tend to lose enthusiasm for engaging in the learning process. Therefore, audiovisual media, in the form of educational videos, can support active, meaningful learning and foster high enthusiasm for learning. This research aims to: 1) describe the level of student enthusiasm in learning through audiovisual media, and 2) identify the impact and student interest in audiovisual-based learning media in educational activities. This study was conducted at SDN 22 Banda Aceh. The research type is descriptive qualitative, using data collection techniques such as direct observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that learning dominated by lectures tends to cause students to lose attention and become disengaged. The results indicate that: 1) after learning was presented using audiovisual media in the form of educational videos, three out of four students were very happy, enthusiastic, and engaged in the learning process with the help of the educational videos, while only one student showed less interest. 2) It can be concluded that audiovisual learning media is capable of fostering student enthusiasm in elementary school education.

Abstract

As one of the Adiwiyata schools in Banda Aceh city, SDN 27 Banda Aceh is very focused on waste management in the school environment. Teachers invite students to minimize the use of waste, especially plastic waste which takes a very long time to decompose. Teachers invite students to the Final Disposal Site (TPA) for waste located in Gampong Jawa, Banda Aceh City to see firsthand how workers at the TPA manage waste starting from sorting waste according to the types of waste and processing it into organic fertilizer, biogas, or waste that can be resold such as bottle waste, plastic waste, cardboard, cans, iron and others. In the Real Action activity, students collect waste in groups and then sort it according to the type of waste. The main focus of this project is on plastic waste. The plastic waste that has been collected is cleaned, dried and cut into small pieces and then put into plastic bottles until full and solid. This activity is known as Ecobrick. After all the bottles are full, they are glued, painted and covered with plywood or board on the top side to be used as a table and covered with cloth as a table mat to make it more attractive. The work that has been made is used as a table in the reading corner in the classroom.

Abstract

Education is one of the most important things to prepare for future success in the era of globalization. Education has three main components, namely teachers, students, and curriculum. This third component cannot be eliminated in the teaching and learning process. Learning is an interaction that occurs between students and teachers as well as open source materials in the learning environment. The aim of this research is to apply the PBL model based on the GASING method to increase the mathematics learning focus of class IV students at SD Negeri 14 Banda Aceh. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documents. The results found after the research was carried out were that there was an increase in student focus which was seen with students being able to understand the abstract concept of whole numbers into concrete concepts, students could easily understand the differences in numbers (units, tens, hundreds, thousands, etc.) just by distinguishing colors. Ice cream sticks can help students develop their creativity during learning. Learning succeeded in increasing student focus as seen from student responses during learning. This research makes an important contribution in the field of education. this research emphasizes the importance of creating an effective and enjoyable learning process. Focusing on interactions between teachers, students, and relevant learning media allows students to increase their understanding of abstract mathematical concepts to become more concrete.

Abstract

This study investigates the pivotal role of supervisory activities conducted by the head of the madrasa in enhancing both teacher and student discipline at MIN 9 Pidie, located in Pidie District. The focus is on understanding how effective leadership can foster a structured and respectful learning environment that encourages academic success and personal development. Utilizing a comprehensive literature review, the research examines various theoretical frameworks related to educational leadership, supervision, and school discipline. It highlights the critical responsibilities of madrasa heads, which include establishing clear expectations, implementing consistent monitoring practices, and actively engaging with teachers and students to cultivate a positive school culture. The study also explores the significance of communication and collaboration in the supervisory process, emphasizing the need for an inclusive approach that maximizes stakeholder participation. Through an analysis of relevant studies and best practices, the research identifies specific strategies employed by the head of MIN 9 Pidie to reinforce discipline. These strategies encompass regular monitoring of classroom activities, providing constructive feedback to teachers, facilitating professional development opportunities, and fostering student engagement through incentive programs designed to reward positive behavior. Moreover, the findings underscore the correlation between systematic supervision and improved outcomes in the educational milieu. Effective supervisory practices not only enhance teacher accountability and performance but also promote student responsibility and self-discipline. This synergy ultimately contributes to a more effective learning environment, increased academic performance, and the overall development of students as responsible individuals.
