Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of non-physical work environment and work motivation, both partially and simultaneously, on employee performance at the Work Unit of the Populi Center Foundation, South Jakarta. This study used a quantitative method with a population of 60 employees and employed a total sampling technique, meaning that the entire population was used as the sample. The results show that the t-test value for the non-physical work environment variable is positive, with t count > t table (3.328 > 2.002). This finding is supported by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, indicating that there is a significant effect of the non-physical work environment on employee performance. Furthermore, the t-test value for the work motivation variable is positive, with t count > t table (2.933 > 2.002), and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that work motivation has a significant effect on employee performance. Based on the ANOVA test, the calculated F value (F count) is 91.416, while the F table value at α = 0.05 and n = 57 is 2.77. Since F count > F table (91.416 > 2.77) and the significance level is 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that the non-physical work environment (X1) and work motivation (X2) together have a significant effect on employee performance (Y).

Abstract

Makassar City, as one of the metropolitan cities in Eastern Indonesia, has a great responsibility to ensure financial management that supports sustainable development and optimal public services. This study evaluates the financial performance of Makassar City in 2021–2023 based on the Value for Money principle, namely economic aspects, efficiency, and effectiveness. The research method is quantitative descriptive and secondary data sources in the form of the Budget Realization Report (LRA) of Makassar City regional revenue and expenditure downloaded from the official website of the Makassar City Government. The economic ratio analysis shows that budget management was categorized as economical in 2021 and 2022, and fairly economical in 2023. The efficiency ratio was categorized as less efficient in 2021 and 2022, and not efficient in 2023. Meanwhile, the effectiveness ratio was highly effective in 2021 and fairly effective in both 2022 and 2023. These findings indicate that although Makassar City's budget management was relatively frugal in the first two years, efficiency and effectiveness declined in the third year.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of financial literacy on the business performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with the entrepreneur mindset as a mediating variable. Financial literacy is defined as a strategic skill in financial management, investment optimization, and business risk mitigation, while the entrepreneur mindset serves as a key driver in fostering innovation, bold decision-making, and risk adaptation. Using a qualitative research method through in-depth interviews with five MSME actors in Rappocini District, Makassar City, the study reveals that adequate financial literacy positively contributes to financial management, operational efficiency, and business growth. The entrepreneur mindset is found to strengthen the relationship between financial literacy and business performance, particularly in aspects of innovation, strategic decision-making, risk tolerance, and leadership ability. These findings highlight the importance of integrating financial literacy and entrepreneurial mindset in building resilient and competitive MSMEs in the digital era. The study also recommends the development of financial education programs and entrepreneur mindset training based on the actual needs of MSMEs as a strategy to enhance national competitiveness.
