Abstract

Human trafficking in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia, remains a critical human rights issue shaped by both criminal practices and structural inequalities. This study examines anti-trafficking advocacy through communication practices and develops a context-sensitive framework for more effective interventions. Based on a qualitative single-case study conducted between May to November 2025, drawing on interviews with grassroots activists, participant observation, and insights from trafficking survivors, the findings reveal that anti-trafficking communication is deeply embedded in local cultural contexts – utilizing Indigenous languages, customary authorities, and community trust networks. However, these efforts remain constrained by limited communication infrastructure, resource shortages, and fragmented institutional coordination. Although storytelling is effective in raising awareness, its impact is limited without structural support. The study concludes that communication should be seen as a structural intervention linked to broader socio-economic reforms, and recommends culturally grounded, participatory, and multi-channel strategies alongside improved infrastructure and institutional coordination.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of peer groups on HIV/AIDS awareness, attitudes, and behaviors among youth. Adolescents aged 10 to 24 are highly vulnerable to peer influence, which can shape both positive and risky behaviors related to HIV/AIDS. Despite ongoing awareness campaigns, many young people continue to engage in unsafe practices such as unprotected sex and substance abuse, increasing their risk of HIV infection. Therefore, this study aims to assess the level of HIV/AIDS awareness among youth, examine the influence of peer groups on attitudes and behaviors, and evaluate the effectiveness of positive peer influence in HIV/AIDS prevention. A quantitative research design was used, involving 108 respondents from various educational and community settings in Malaysia. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed online and offline and analyzed using SPSS version 27. The findings revealed that respondents generally had a high level of HIV/AIDS awareness, particularly regarding transmission through unprotected sex and needle sharing. Peer influence was also found to significantly affect attitudes and behaviors, with many respondents reporting that peers encouraged positive health practices such as condom use and health awareness. The study concludes that peer-led and youth-centered strategies are essential for strengthening HIV/AIDS prevention efforts among youth.

Abstract

Kata-kata Kunci: Identitas Gender; Instagram; Maskulinitas; Retorika Visual; Tubuh laki-laki.

Abstract

Social media has become an essential element of digital transformation, encouraging organizations to use social media as a strategic communication instrument to build relationships with stakeholders. Although previous studies have widely examined the effectiveness of social media marketing in commercial companies, research on its use in industrial association organizations remains limited. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media marketing on consumer engagement and organizational equity in the Indonesian furniture industry association context. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to followers of ASMINDO’s official Instagram account who met the research criteria. The research instrument was measured using a six-point Likert scale and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that social media marketing has a positive and significant effect on consumer engagement and organizational equity. These results suggest that digital communication activities through Instagram not only enhance audience engagement but also strengthen positive perceptions of the organization as a representation of the Indonesian furniture industry. This study extends the application of social media marketing concepts to industrial association organizations and highlights organizational equity as a strategic outcome of organizational digital communication.
