Abstract

Home security is a crucial factor for everyone to protect property and ensure the safety of their family. Along with technological advancements, home security systems have evolved from simple mechanisms to sophisticated devices integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT). One of the widely used technologies in such systems is the Raspberry Pi, a small, affordable, and flexible computer capable of controlling other devices through its General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) pins. The Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor also plays a vital role in home security systems due to its ability to detect human movement by sensing changes in infrared radiation emitted by the human body. By utilizing PIR sensors, security systems can detect motion inside or around the house, potentially indicating threats such as burglary attempts. In addition, fast and efficient communication is essential in security systems. WhatsApp Messenger, as one of the most popular instant messaging applications, offers convenience in sending alerts or notifications directly to the user’s device. The integration of Raspberry Pi, PIR sensors, and WhatsApp Messenger can create a home security system that is not only cost- effective but also capable of delivering real-time notifications to homeowners. By combining Raspberry Pi and PIR sensors with WhatsApp as a communication medium, the system offers advantages in cost, ease of installation, and efficiency in delivering alerts without requiring additional complex hardware. Therefore, this research aims to design and implement a Raspberry Pi and PIR sensor-based home security system with notifications sent via WhatsApp Messenger.

Abstract

This research developed an interactive Company Profile Website for DM Medical Alkes to address the lack of digital promotion and corporate credibility. The website integrates an interactive 360° product presentation feature to enhance user experience and buyer confidence. The Agile Development method was employed, which included planning, design (UML, mockups), implementation (Next.js, Supabase), testing, and review phases. An experiment to determine the optimal number of images for the 360° feature was conducted with internal stakeholders, resulting in the use of 36 images. Comprehensive system testing was performed using Black Box Testing, which confirmed that all basic website functionalities operated optimally. User Experience (UX) Testing with the System Usability Scale (SUS) yielded an average score of 80.85 from 41 customers (categorized as "Excellent") and 98.66 from 3 stakeholders (categorized as "Best Imaginable"). Furthermore, a focused questionnaire on the interactive 360° feature showed very positive results, with an average score of 4.0 and a percentage of 80% from 41 respondents (categorized as "Very Good"). These findings prove that respondents prefer the 360° feature over two-dimensional media or videos, and that the feature is effective in enhancing user experience and attracting potential buyers. Overall, the developed website successfully presents information and products effectively, significantly improving user experience and meeting expectations.

Abstract

The growing demand for environmentally friendly lubricants has encouraged the development of bio-based additives derived from vegetable oils. This study investigates the effects of blending soybean oil and olive oil with SAE 5W/30 synthetic lubricant on physical properties and tribological performance. Lubricant blends were prepared with varying volume fractions of soybean oil and olive oil (0, 20, 40, 60, and 100%). Density and kinematic viscosity were measured at room temperature to evaluate changes in physical properties. Tribological behavior was examined using a pin-on-disc friction test under controlled conditions, including a constant rotational speed of 450 rpm, a normal load of 2 kg, and a test duration of 3 minutes. Friction temperature was recorded during testing, and wear surface morphology was analyzed using optical microscopy. The results indicate that increasing vegetable oil content influences density and viscosity, reflecting modifications in lubricant film characteristics. Blended lubricants generally exhibited lower friction temperatures compared to pure synthetic oil, indicating improved lubricity and heat dissipation. Surface morphology observations revealed smoother worn surfaces and reduced wear severity for blended oils, particularly those containing balanced proportions of soybean and olive oil. These improvements are attributed to the polar functional groups in vegetable oils, which enhance adsorption and film formation at the contact interface. Overall, the findings demonstrate that soybean and olive oil blends can effectively improve the tribological performance of SAE 5W/30 synthetic lubricant, highlighting their potential as sustainable and eco-friendly lubricant additives for mechanical applications.
