Abstract

The availability of food sources is very important for stingless bee farmers in Sungai Tiung Village, Banjarbaru City. Pollen is a food source that contains protein, vitamins, fats, and minerals that are important for bees. Pollen identification can be an indicator of the types of plants that bees feed on. This study aims to identify the types of pollen found in Heterotrigona itama nests and analyze each pollen category based on pollen percentage. The research was conducted at three different locations: Cempaka Kelulut, Cempaka Beton, and Kelulut Kalimantan. Samples were collected using purposive sampling. The acetolysis method was used as an indicator to identify pollen types. Pollen was identified by comparing and matching the observed characteristics with images or literature from identification guides, journals, and research theses. Based on the research results, the types of pollen found in Heterotrigona itama nests at the three meliponine beekeeping locations in Sungai Tiung Village were highly diverse. The pollen originated from 18 plant species and 13 plant families. Based on the percentage at Cempaka Beton, the dominant pollen is Scoparia dulcis (40%) and Phyllanthus urinaria (27.5%) as secondary pollen. At Cempaka Madu Kelulut, Phyllanthus urinaria is the predominant pollen (57%), while at Kelulut Kalimantan, Mimosa pudica dominates with (53.1%)

Abstract

Abstract

The use of synthetic soaps containing harmful ingredients has driven consumers toward natural soap alternatives. Transparent soap offers the advantage of producing a softer lather and containing moisturizing agents that help prevent dry skin, making the development of transparent soaps with natural active ingredients essential for maintaining skin health and beauty. This study aimed to develop a transparent soap formulated with bangkal wood bark (Nauclea subdita) extract, a native plant of South Kalimantan rich in secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, and saponins. Previous studies have reported that these compounds possess natural antioxidant and sunscreen properties, as well as anti-inflammatory, antiplasmodial, antipyretic, and antimicrobial potentials. The methodology included reflux extraction using 96% ethanol, soap formulation through saponification, and comprehensive quality evaluation. Tests conducted included measurements of water content, pH, chloride content, ethanol-insoluble matter, free fatty acids/alkali, total fatty matter, unsaponified fat, foam stability, and organoleptic properties. The results showed that the transparent soaps with bangkal wood bark extract met the SNI 3532:2021 standards for water content, pH, ethanol insoluble matter, chloride content, foam stability, and total fatty matter across all extract concentrations. However, soap D (6 grams extract) exceeded the acceptable limit for free fatty acids. Organoleptic evaluation indicated that all formulations were well accepted by the panelists. Therefore, the bangkal wood bark extract demonstrates strong potential as a natural active ingredient for developing transparent soap formulations that meet quality standards.

Abstract

Subsurface interpretation research has been carried out using the magnetic method with the aim of knowing the value of magnetic anomalies and subsurface rock structures around the ULM Banjarbaru Auditorium Building. In this study, data was collected using the PPM G-856 tool, which performed up to 55 measurements with a 5 m spacing between points.  According to the research findings, the magnetic field anomaly values in the study area range -1252.2 nT – 1725.4 nT. The 2D modeling results show that the study area is the Dahor formation, which consists of claystone, siltstone, and rock sand. The results of measuring the susceptibility value of each rock are 0.01; 0.015 and 0.018 SI for claystone,  0.001 and 0.0011 SI for siltstone, and 0.02 SI for rock sand.

Abstract

Heterotrigona itama is a stingless bee species that produces high-quality and economically valuable honey. Honey quality assessment can be done through physicochemical parameters according to applicable standards. This study aims to analyze the physicochemical quality of Heterotrigona itama honey from three meliponiculture locations in Sungai Tiung Village, Banjarbaru City and compare it with SNI 8664-2018 and U.S. Patent Application Publication-2011. The study used purposive sampling method by taking samples from Cempaka Madu Kelulut, Cempaka Beton, and Kelulut Kalimantan. Parameters tested included moisture content, total sugar, HMF, reducing sugar, sucrose, acidity, water insoluble solids, ash content, and Pb and Cd metal contamination based on the method in SNI. Data analysis was done descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that all samples had a moisture content of 30-30.33%, total sugar 67.7-68°Brix, HMF 15.3-15.8 mg/kg, reducing sugar 33.88-45.59%, sucrose 7.88-10.58%, acidity 85.33-100 mL NaOH/kg, water insoluble solids 0.35-1.15%, ash content 0.056-0.1%, and Pb and Cd contamination <0.0001 mg/kg. Most parameters met the SNI, while the water content, reducing sugar, and sucrose exceeded the set limits.
