Abstract

Understanding nursing students’ knowledge of the six patient safety goals is essential to prevent adverse events. Innovative and interactive learning strategies are needed to strengthen students’ comprehension of these goals. The make-a-match method, as a cooperative learning approach, encourages active engagement and is expected to enhance knowledge retention. This study aimed to examine the effect of patient safety goals education on the knowledge of undergraduate nursing students using the make-a-match method. A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted with 69 undergraduate nursing students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured patient safety goals knowledge questionnaire. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was applied to analyze the differences between pretest and posttest scores, with a significance level of 0.05. Prior to the intervention, most participants demonstrated a moderate level of knowledge (63.8%). Following the intervention, the majority of students achieved a good level of knowledge (91.3%). Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test revealed a significant improvement in knowledge scores (p = 0.001, p 0.05). The findings indicate that education using the make-a-match method is effective in improving nursing students’ knowledge of patient safety goals. This method may serve as a valuable learning strategy in nursing education to strengthen patient safety competencies.

Abstract

Gastritis is one of the diseases of the digestive system with a high prevalence of recurrence. Irregular lifestyles, academic stress, and low self-management skills are the main factors that trigger relapse. The Chronic Care Model (CCM) has a conceptual framework in the management of chronic diseases including gastritis. This study aims to analyze factors related to gastritis recurrence based on the CCM approach in nursing students. This study used  a cross-sectional quantitative design  with a total of 30 respondents in young adulthood. The results showed that most of the respondents (86.7%) experienced a recurrence of gastritis in the last six months. The Fisher's Exact Test showed that the self-management support subscale had a significant relationship with gastritis recurrence (p = 0.048), while the other subscales (delivery system design, decision support, clinical information system, organization of care, and community resources) showed an insignificant association (p 0.05), but had a strong association in the high score category. The conclusion of this study shows that the higher the student's self-management ability, the lower the risk of gastritis recurrence.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) remain a major health problem in the community, especially in the Papua Highlands. The prevalence of ARI among toddlers in Papua is among the highest in Indonesia, partly due to the community's lack of knowledge about ARI prevention and the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviours (PHBS). This community service activity aims to increase public knowledge about the prevention of respiratory tract infections in Waima Village, Popuoba District, Jayawijaya Regency. The method used is health education through counselling with slides and leaflets, accompanied by discussions and question and answer sessions. The target audience for this activity is the communities of Waima and Popuoba villages. The results of the activity show an increase in the community's understanding of the definition of ISPA, risk factors, modes of transmission, and efforts to prevent ISPA through the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviours (PHBS). The community showed enthusiasm and active participation during the event. This activity is expected to contribute to changes in public health behaviour, thereby reducing the risk of acute respiratory infections in the region.

Abstract

Low back pain during pregnancy is defined as pain occurring in the lumbar region, specifically above the sacrum, which may radiate to the legs and increase the risk of low back pain in subsequent pregnancies. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupressure therapy on low back pain among third-trimester pregnant women at Mitra Sehat Clinic, Pabuaran, in 2025. This study employed a quantitative analytical approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design without a control group. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving 30 pregnant women. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources, and the instrument used was a pain scale measurement. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. The results showed that before receiving acupressure therapy, 22 participants (73.4%) experienced severe low back pain. After the intervention, 19 participants (63.4%) demonstrated a reduction in pain intensity to a moderate level. In conclusion, acupressure therapy has a significant effect on reducing low back pain among third-trimester pregnant women. Pregnant women are encouraged to maintain their health during pregnancy, participate in maternal health classes, and undergo acupressure therapy twice a week to prevent low back pain.
