Abstract

Education in both modern and old-fashioned community covers three important and integrated aspects, they are technical aspect to prepare students to get better life; social aspects to prepare citizens to continue their life; moral and spiritual aspect to develop citizens behavior and educate their citizens. Normally, teaching process is limited on things what grown up have done. Students imitate to learn social knowledge, technical and religion in order to prepare their future life. Abstract

Madrasa is one of the institution of the Islamic education which has big role in promoting literacy program., like Madrasa Nasriyah in Masjid ai-Aqsa. Madrasa Nasriyah also known as Madrasa AI-Ghazaliyah as a honor of Imam Gazali. He has finished his work there namely Book lhya al-'Ulum al-Din. Abstract

As social intitution,libraries have an important role to build a social harmony. The library was essentially an entry point to the wider culture. Library collections and its varieties in subject described not only to richness of information sources available, but also reflected to openness of the library to multi culture issues. The varieties and diversities of library's users in any kinds of ages, races, cultures, beliefs, and vocations indicated that libraries were nan-stigmatizing places. Libraries were places where people as library's users learn their culture, and other culture in the world. By library's services, users were educated to improve their understabding to people customes, etiquettes, beliefs, and other cultures in order to build social and national harmony. Abstract

By using analitical descriptive approach, this survey research was expected to explore the users' perceptions (their impressions, observations, and points of view) towards UIN-main library service's quality. We know that users are effective assessors for library services within a given time. Their various perseptions had been utilized to assess the states of main elements of library services. As can be seeen from the gatherred datum, user perceptions which stated good on the overall library services are higher than that of which saying worse. Nevertheless, their admission of dissatisfaction in recieving the services even higher than those expressing and feelling satisfied. Although on the overall library servcices, most of the respondens saying good but only small proportion of them admitted themselves satisfied with the library service provision in the mid 2007. In short the majority of respondents stated that they were dissatisfied with the UIN main library services in the time. Abstract

On the basis of the research conducted by the writter, this article is aimed to find out the impact of leadership styles on the librarian performance at the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah main library. There are three important issues of leadership styles discussed in this article, namely directive style, participative style and supportive style. By using the anova tables, there are no any indications that both the directive and supportive styles have implication on the librarian performance, but in term of the participative style the writter, obviously, found out that this style has implication on librarian performance at the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah main library. Key Words: Leadership styles, library performance.

Abstract

Islam Jawa unik, bukan karena ia mempertahankan aspek-aspek budaya dan agama pra Islam, akan tetapi karena konsep-konsep sufi mengenai kewalian, jalan mistik dan kesempurnaan manusia diterapkan dan diformulasikan dalam suatu kultus keraton (imperial cult). Pada gilirannya, agama negara itu merupakan suatu model konsepsi Jawa tradisonal mengenai aturan-aturan sosial, ritual, dan bahkan aspek·aspek kehidupan sosial seperti bentuk·bentuk kepribadian, hati dan penyakit. Kelebihan yang terlihat dari Islam Jawa adalah kecepatan yang mencolok dan kedalamannya mempenetrasi masyarakat Hindu-Budha yang paling maju (sophisticated).

Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the involvement of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta community in developing the dynamic intellectual in this globalization era with the role of the main library in acquiring, storing, and disseminating the local university intellectual wealth to the end user in a fast, timely and efficient way. Inevitably, that UIN Jakarta and its structural and non-structural organizations have reliable potential to participate in development of the knowledge production in national, region and global level. Unfortunately, our institution has very weak tradition in documenting the intellectual wealth produced by UIN Jakarta local community. Although the responsibility of the intellectual wealth preservation in UIN Jakarta must involve all university units and organizations, yet, the role of the main library must be more active and dynamic than the other UIN Jakarta units and organizations. This article is based on the research project conducted by the writer in 2007. There are at least three issues discussed in this article. The first issue discusses the introduction of general concept on grey literatures and its development, role and function in educational institutions. The second issue discusses the contribution of UIN Jakarta organizations (both structural and non-structural) in development of grey literature collection. Finally it discusses some barriers faced by the UIN Jakarta main library in preserving, especially, the local UIN Jakarta intellectual wealth. As a conclusion of this article discussed some suggestions for improvement of the intellectual deposit program coordinated by the UIN Jakarta main library. Abstract

This article is based on the result findings of a research on the student reading interest conducted in Madrasah lbtidaiyah (primary school level) Pembangunan Ciputat and Madrasah lbtidaiyah Sirajul Falah Parung - Bogor. Both Madrasahs were chosen because there is a significant different of social economic background. The research focused on students primary school level in both madrasahs with the assumption that madrasah lbtidaiyah Pembangunan represent students who have background of middle and above social economic and Madrasah Sirojul Falah represent students who have low social economic background. The research described some student reading interests in Madrasah lbtidaiyah Pembangunan and Madrasah lbtidaiyah Sirajul Falah in term of family role, teacher and librarian role, and student community environment role in influencing their reading interests. The method of research used both library and field researches. The instruments used to collect the required data taken from field research with conducting observation, distributing questionnaires and interviewing the respondents. Some result findings of this research are that the most interesting hobby of students from both madrasahs is not reading, there is significant different in term of interesting books that most students from Ml Pembangunan preferred the adventure story rather than other kinds of story and most students Sirojul Falah preferred the kind of religious story rather than others. Unfortunately, this research found that the role of teacher and librarian in improving reading interest is very low in both Ml Pembangunan and Sirojul Falah. Key Words: Reading interest, hobby, middle social economic background, and low social economic background.
