Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of mudarabah and murabahah contracts at the Baitut Tamwil Muhammadiyah (BTM) Al-Kautsar Islamic Cooperative in Makassar and to assess their compliance with Islamic principles and the Islamic Financial Accounting Standards (PSAK Syariah). The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that BTM Al-Kautsar has implemented mudarabah and murabahah contracts in accordance with Islamic principles, as evidenced by valid contract agreements, agreed profit-sharing ratios, and manual transaction recording. The mudarabah contract is applied for profit-sharing financing, while murabahah is more dominant due to its lower risk and stable returns. However, the application of PSAK Syariah remains suboptimal due to limited human resources, the absence of a Sharia supervisory board, and minimal digital accounting systems. These findings suggest the need to enhance Sharia literacy, strengthen internal supervision, and modernize accounting systems to support accountable and sustainable Islamic cooperative governance

Abstract

Digital technology has, in many ways, altered the manner in which businesses function. This transformation touches on aspects like how products are developed, delivered, and sold. It opens up a range of possibilities for business owners to broaden their markets, boost profits, and make better use of online tools. At the same time, however, the digital age introduces certain difficulties. These include increased competition as well as risks related to practices that may conflict with sharia law—for example, charging interest, engaging in transactions with unclear risks, or producing counterfeit goods. The focus of this study is to examine the opportunities and challenges that businesses encounter in today’s digital world, viewed through an Islamic lens. The approach taken involves a review of existing literature, drawing from various sources dealing with digital commerce and Islamic economic principles. The results suggest that digital business ventures hold considerable promise, provided they are conducted with honesty, fairness, and transparency, while avoiding activities disallowed by sharia. This way, entrepreneurs can not only generate income but also develop their enterprises in a way that aligns with ethical and religious values.

Abstract

Technological advancements and the rapid growth of globalization have fundamentally changed the way organizations conduct business activities, creating increasingly complex challenges and opportunities in both local and international markets. Organizations are now required to adapt quickly to changing consumer preferences, technological innovation, market competition, and economic uncertainty. In this environment, economics, management, and accounting have become three essential disciplines that play a crucial role in determining organizational effectiveness and long-term sustainability. Economics helps organizations understand market behavior, pricing strategies, supply and demand conditions, and macroeconomic factors that influence business performance. Management focuses on planning, organizing, leading, and controlling resources to ensure operational efficiency and goal achievement. Accounting provides reliable financial information through systematic recording, reporting, and analysis of transactions, enabling organizations to evaluate performance and maintain accountability. This study aims to analyze the relationship between these three disciplines in supporting organizational decision-making processes and improving overall performance. The research employs a literature review method by examining various recent academic books and journal articles. The findings reveal that the integration of economics, management, and accounting strengthens strategic planning, improves resource allocation, enhances financial transparency, and supports sustainable organizational growth in a highly competitive global environment.

Abstract

Global economic uncertainty and exchange rate fluctuations pose significant challenges to monetary stability in Indonesia, particularly in maintaining a controlled inflation rate. This study aims to analyze the transmission mechanism of the rupiah exchange rate to the inflation rate in Indonesia from 2015 to 2024. The method used in this study is library research by collecting, reviewing, and synthesizing data from various scientific literature, official central bank reports, and related journal articles published over the past decade. The research findings indicate that rupiah depreciation has a significant influence on rising inflation through the imported inflation channel, where currency depreciation increases the cost of raw materials for industries dependent on foreign markets. Furthermore, the findings reveal that the effectiveness of this transmission is influenced by public expectations and monetary policy taken by Bank Indonesia through adjustments to the benchmark interest rate. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of synergy between a stable exchange rate policy and controlling the supply of domestic goods to minimize the impact of external shocks on public purchasing power. The government and monetary authorities are advised to continue strengthening foreign exchange reserves and encouraging the use of local currencies in international transactions to reduce dependence on the United States dollar and maintain national price stability.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role and impact of PT Batujaya Bersama Sejahtera (PT BBS) on the socio-economic conditions of the community in Walandano Village, Balaesang Tanjung District. The background of this study is driven by the massive expansion of the mining industry in Central Sulawesi, which triggers a structural shift from traditional agriculture to an industrial economy. This study employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that PT BBS plays a significant role in local economic development by providing employment opportunities, increasing household income, and improving public infrastructure such as roads and jetties. However, the study also identifies social disruptions, including public protests regarding land issues and environmental concerns like dust and noise pollution. The implications of this research suggest that the company must strengthen its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs by focusing on sustainable community empowerment and more transparent communication to mitigate social risks. These findings contribute to the literature on regional economic development and social change in coastal mining areas.

Abstract

The implementation of corporate zakat in Indonesia remains relatively low despite its significant potential to support national economic development. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of corporate zakat as an instrument for reducing tax burdens and its contribution to economic equality. This research employs a literature review approach by examining relevant academic sources. The findings indicate that corporate zakat of 2.5% is obligatory for business entities that meet the nisab and haul requirements. Based on Law No. 23 of 2011 and Law No. 36 of 2008, zakat distributed through authorized institutions such as BAZNAS or LAZ can be deducted from taxable income. Corporate zakat not only fulfills religious obligations but also plays a vital role in wealth redistribution through social assistance and productive capital for mustahik. Therefore, optimizing corporate zakat can serve as a strategic instrument to promote sustainable economic justice in Indonesia. Effective policies and outreach from the government are also needed so that companies are more encouraged to pay zakat in a timely and transparent manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of equity-based financing decisions and sukuk from the perspective of Sharia principles in companies in Indonesia. The development of the Islamic capital market in Indonesia shows a significant increase in the use of financing instruments that comply with Islamic principles, thereby encouraging companies to consider funding alternatives that are not only financially efficient but also Sharia-compliant. In the framework of Sharia financial management, capital structure decisions must consider the prohibition of usury, the principle of risk sharing, fairness in risk distribution, and contract certainty. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method thru the analysis of various scientific journals, regulations, and academic sources related to capital structure theory, the concept of Sharia equity, and the characteristics of corporate sukuk in Indonesia. The study results indicate that equity-based financing provides flexibility in capital structure and reflects a risk-sharing mechanism, but it has the potential to cause ownership dilution. Meanwhile, sukuk offers asset-based financing with a clear contractual structure and does not dilute company ownership, although it requires an underlying asset and a more complex issuance process. Comparatively, both instruments have Sharia legitimacy as long as they meet the screening requirements and contract structures applicable in Indonesia. This research emphasizes that corporate financing decisions in Indonesia need to consider the balance between financial efficiency and compliance with Sharia principles.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a systematic synthesis of available empirical evidence to empirically ascertain the impact of Board of Directors' competence on earnings management practices in Islamic banking. The research employs a qualitative literature review approach. A literature search was performed on the Scopus database for the period 2010–2025, utilizing a combination of the keywords "Islamic bank," "Board of Director," and "Earnings Management." From an initial pool of 127 identified documents, a rigorous screening process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria yielded 53 reputable journal articles as the final units of analysis. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to synthesize substantive findings. The synthesis results consistently confirm that Board of Directors' competence demonstrates a negative and significant impact on earnings management practices in Islamic banking. However, the effectiveness of this impact is not homogeneous. The principal findings identify three crucial boundary conditions: (1) The presence of specific expertise in finance and Sharia contracts at the board level serves as the primary differentiator of supervisory effectiveness; (2) The complementary interaction with the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) moderates the strength of this relationship; and (3) The regional institutional context (centralization model in Southeast Asia vs. decentralization in the GCC) significantly influences the effectiveness of governance in curbing the manipulation of discretionary accounts, including the Profit Equalization Reserve (PER).

Abstract

This study examines the role of halal tourism in enhancing destination competitiveness and strengthening the Islamic economy within the tourism sector. This research employs a systematic literature review to synthesize findings from relevant academic sources. The results indicate that halal tourism contributes significantly to destination competitiveness by increasing tourist arrivals and encouraging product diversification. In addition, it supports the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and promotes local economic growth through a multiplier effect. Halal tourism also fosters ethical business practices and sustainable tourism development aligned with Islamic principles. However, its implementation faces key challenges, including limited infrastructure, complex halal certification procedures, and perceptions of exclusivity among non-Muslim tourists. Therefore, strategic efforts are required to improve Muslim-friendly infrastructure, streamline certification processes, strengthen MSME capacity through training and digitalization, and adopt inclusive branding strategies. These measures are expected to enhance the competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability of halal tourism destinations in the global market.

Abstract

Green sukuk is a Sharia-compliant financial instrument that combines sukuk principles with sustainable financing aimed at environmental preservation. It is used to finance environmentally friendly projects, including renewable energy, sustainable transportation, waste management, and green infrastructure development. Indonesia is one of the countries actively issuing green sukuk as part of its national development financing strategy. This study aims to examine the implementation of green sukuk in national development from the perspective of fiqh muamalah, particularly regarding the contracts employed and the utilization of underlying assets. The research uses a literature review method by analyzing books, scientific journals, regulatory documents, and reports from relevant institutions. The findings show that green sukuk has become an effective financing instrument for supporting sustainable development while remaining consistent with Sharia principles. Its implementation is based on real underlying assets, employs contracts recognized in Islamic law, and avoids elements of riba, gharar, and maysir. Therefore, green sukuk not only contributes to financing environmentally sustainable development projects but also strengthens the integration of Islamic financial principles with environmental responsibility in the national development agenda.
