Abstract

The rapid growth of fintech in Indonesia has transformed MSME financing, yet its linkage to broader financial system stability remains underexplored. This study investigates the implications of Indonesia's financial system stability for MSME financing through fintech platforms and the number of active fintech users. Utilizing the Error Correction Model (ECM) technique, we employ monthly time series data comprising 72 observations from January 2019 to December 2024, drawn from Bank Indonesia, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), and fintech industry reports. The empirical results indicate that financial system stability significantly and positively influences MSME financing via fintech in both the short and long run. Similarly, stability exerts a significant positive effect on the number of active fintech users over these periods. These findings highlight the symbiotic relationship between macroeconomic financial resilience and digital lending ecosystems, where a stable financial system fosters greater fintech adoption and MSME credit access. Impulse response functions and variance decompositions further confirm the directional causality from stability to fintech metrics. Policymakers should prioritize financial stability measures to bolster inclusive financing for MSMEs, which constitute over 99% of Indonesian businesses. This research contributes to the literature on fintech's role in emerging economies, advocating for regulatory frameworks that integrate stability with digital innovation.

Abstract

Cooperatives are a people's economic institution that plays a vital role in improving community welfare through the principles of togetherness, economic democracy, and member participation. However, Generation Z's interest in cooperatives in Indonesia remains relatively low. This study aims to analyze the factors contributing to Generation Z's low interest in cooperatives and to examine the role of innovation and digitalization in increasing young people's participation in cooperatives. This study used a literature review method by reviewing various relevant literature sources, such as scientific journals, articles, and previous research results. The results indicate that Generation Z's low interest is influenced by a lack of understanding of cooperatives, a perceived conventional image of cooperatives, minimal use of digital technology, and suboptimal promotion through social media. On the other hand, innovation and digitalization have been shown to increase the attractiveness of cooperatives through easy access to services, transparency, operational efficiency, and interactions that are more in line with Generation Z's characteristics. In addition, social and psychological factors also influence the level of participation of young people in cooperatives. Therefore, cooperatives need to undertake digital transformation, improve innovation services, and strengthen social media-based education and promotion to remain relevant and able to attract Generation Z's interest in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the management model of community-based cooperatives in empowering home-based MSMEs. Home-based MSMEs play a crucial role in improving the community's economy, but they still face various obstacles such as limited capital, suboptimal marketing, low managerial skills, and minimal use of digital technology. Community-based cooperatives offer an alternative solution through a participatory approach that emphasizes collaboration, member involvement, and strengthening the local economy. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving cooperative administrators and home-based MSMEs. The results indicate that the community-based cooperative management model can increase members' business capacity by providing access to capital, entrepreneurship training, business mentoring, and collaborative product marketing. Furthermore, strong social ties among members are a crucial factor in building trust and maintaining the cooperative's sustainability. This study also found that digitalization and management innovation present both challenges and opportunities for cooperatives. Therefore, strengthening organizational governance, improving the quality of human resources, and utilizing digital technology need to be continuously developed to support the sustainable empowerment of home-based MSMEs.

Abstract

Economic development plays a vital role in improving people's quality of life and promoting national progress. However, contemporary economic systems continue to face various challenges, including income inequality, poverty, and inequitable distribution of economic resources. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic economics as a foundation for supporting national development oriented toward collective welfare. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review of relevant books, scientific journals, and other academic sources. The findings indicate that Islamic economics is based on fundamental principles such as tauhid (the oneness of God), justice, maslahah (public benefit), ta'awun (mutual cooperation), and balance between material and spiritual aspects. These principles serve as guidelines for establishing a more equitable, humane, and sustainable economic system. The implementation of Islamic economics in national development can be achieved through strengthening Islamic financial institutions, optimizing the management of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (ZISWAF), empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and developing the halal industry as a driver of economic growth. Therefore, Islamic economics has the potential to become an alternative development approach that promotes equitable welfare, reduces social disparities, and supports sustainable development.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information and communication technology has made social media one of the most widely used platforms among young people for accessing information and interacting with others. This phenomenon provides an opportunity for cooperatives to utilize social media as a tool for building a more modern image that aligns with the needs of society in the digital era. This study aims to examine the influence of social media on the formation of a modern cooperative image among the younger generation and to identify its role as a medium for promotion, information dissemination, education, and communication. The study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from various literature sources, including scientific journals, books, articles, and previous studies related to the research topic. The findings reveal that social media contributes to improving young people's knowledge, interest, and positive perceptions of cooperatives. The delivery of information through engaging and interactive content helps expand outreach and strengthen the image of cooperatives as innovative, professional, and technology-oriented institutions. Therefore, optimizing the use of social media can serve as an important strategy to enhance the attractiveness of cooperatives and encourage greater youth involvement in cooperative development in the future.

Abstract

The development of the halal sector is currently showing significant growth, along with growing public awareness of the importance of halal products and the adoption of a lifestyle compliant with Sharia principles. In this context, Generation Z has emerged as a crucial group due to its connection to digital technology, social media, and flexible consumption patterns. This study aims to explore Generation Z's contribution to advancing the modern halal industry, identify factors influencing their interest in halal products, and analyze the impact of digitalization on the growth of the halal sector. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method, incorporating literature review, observation, and document collection from various reliable sources. The findings indicate that Generation Z functions as both consumers and business actors, proactively promoting and developing halal products through various digital platforms. Several factors influencing their interest include religious awareness, halal lifestyle trends, and easy access to information. However, challenges remain, such as low knowledge about halal products and high competition in the market. Therefore, halal education, digital innovation, and support from various parties are needed to strengthen the sustainable growth of the halal industry.

Abstract

The growth of the halal food industry in Indonesia presents significant economic opportunities, but also requires young entrepreneurs who are able to adapt to technological advances and global markets. In this context, Generation Z is considered capable of developing halal entrepreneurship through innovation, digital literacy, and a sharia-based entrepreneurial approach. The purpose of this study is to identify the opportunities, preparations, and challenges faced by Gen Z in developing halal food businesses in Indonesia. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach and utilized a literature review method, examining halal industry reports from the past five years, as well as national and international journals. Content analysis techniques were used to examine halal industry trends, the entrepreneurial characteristics of Generation Z, and the skills required by halal entrepreneurs. However, challenges remain, including limited understanding of the halal assurance system, access to capital, and practical business experience. This study concludes that strengthening the halalpreneurship ecosystem through entrepreneurship education, halal certification, digital literacy, and collaboration between the government, industry, and universities are important strategies to encourage the emergence of competitive and sustainable young halalpreneurs in supporting the growth of the national halal economy.

Abstract

Zakat is one of the instruments of Islamic economics that serves both social and economic functions in promoting equitable social welfare. The persistently high level of socio-economic inequality in many Muslim countries has positioned zakat as an alternative solution for wealth redistribution and poverty alleviation. This study aims to analyze the contribution of zakat to reducing socio-economic inequality among Muslim communities based on various published studies. The research method employed is a literature review by examining relevant scientific articles from national and international journals published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that zakat significantly contributes to reducing socio-economic inequality through income redistribution mechanisms, economic empowerment of mustahik (zakat beneficiaries), poverty reduction, and improvements in community welfare. Furthermore, productive zakat programs have been proven to be more effective in fostering economic independence compared to consumptive zakat. However, the effectiveness of zakat still faces several challenges, including low public awareness, suboptimal fund collection, and less-than-optimal governance of zakat institutions. Therefore, strengthening a professional, transparent, and technology-based zakat management system is necessary to enhance its contribution to achieving socio-economic justice within Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and project the growth of sectoral Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Indonesia and its implications for investment requirements and additional labor demand. The study utilizes labor and GDP data by industrial sector at constant prices for the period 2003–2025. The analytical method employed is the Incremental Labour Output Ratio (ILOR) approach, which projects labor requirements based on sectoral output growth. The results indicate that an increase in GDP in the agricultural sector does not significantly contribute to the expansion of employment absorption within the sector. In contrast, GDP growth in the community services, mining, and trade sectors shows greater potential in generating additional employment opportunities. Furthermore, additional labor in the agricultural sector does not produce optimal output growth and may potentially reduce productivity in the future. Meanwhile, increased labor in the mining sector is projected to generate higher output growth in the coming periods. These findings suggest that the dynamics of sectoral GDP growth have varying implications for employment absorption and productivity across economic sectors in Indonesia.
