Abstract

Urban agriculture is emerging as a critical strategy for addressing the challenges posed by rapid urbanization and land scarcity. As cities expand, the demand for food production increases, necessitating innovative solutions to ensure food security and sustainability. This article explores the potential of urban agriculture to mitigate the effects of urbanization, including limited land availability, environmental degradation, and food deserts. It examines various urban farming practices, such as rooftop gardens, vertical farms, and community gardens, highlighting their benefits in promoting local food systems and enhancing community resilience. By analyzing case studies from various cities worldwide, the study evaluates the effectiveness of urban agriculture initiatives in improving food access, reducing carbon footprints, and fostering social cohesion. The findings underscore the importance of supportive policies and community engagement in maximizing the potential of urban agriculture. Ultimately, this article advocates for the integration of urban agriculture into urban planning as a sustainable approach to meet the food needs of growing urban populations.

Abstract

Indonesia’s transition to renewable energy is a pivotal aspect of its strategy to achieve sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This study evaluates the impact of green energy policies on renewable power plant investments in Indonesia through a comparative analysis of solar, wind, geothermal, and hydropower projects. Using data from 2015 to 2024, the study examines the effectiveness of feed-in tariffs, tax incentives, and renewable energy mandates in driving investments. The results show that while policies like feed-in tariffs and tax incentives have significantly boosted investment in geothermal and hydropower projects, solar and wind energy sectors face challenges such as low tariff rates and infrastructure deficits. Comparative insights from successful international cases underscore the need for policy stability, grid expansion, and technology-specific strategies. This research provides actionable recommendations to optimize Indonesia’s green energy framework, fostering a more inclusive and sustainable renewable energy sector.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 has driven transformative changes in agriculture through the adoption of precision agriculture (PA) technologies, aimed at optimizing resource use and enhancing food security. This study conducts a systematic literature review of 52 Scopus-indexed documents to evaluate the role of these technologies in addressing global food challenges. Key innovations such as IoT, AI, drones, and robotics are highlighted for their contributions to increasing agricultural productivity, ensuring environmental sustainability, and mitigating the effects of climate variability. Despite their potential, barriers such as high implementation costs, technological complexity, and limited access in developing regions hinder widespread adoption. The findings underscore the need for targeted policies, infrastructure development, and inclusive practices to harness PA technologies for food security fully. This study provides valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to foster sustainable agricultural systems.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of smart grid implementation on the integration of new renewable energy (NRE) in the Indonesian electricity system from the consumer's perspective. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with five informants and analyzed with NVIVO software. The findings reveal that smart grids enhance renewable energy integration by improving energy efficiency, consumer participation, and environmental sustainability. However, challenges such as infrastructure readiness, affordability, and limited consumer awareness hinder adoption. Informants emphasized the need for government support, subsidies, and public education to accelerate implementation. This research highlights the critical role of consumers in achieving Indonesia's renewable energy targets and offers recommendations for stakeholders to foster a consumer-centric approach to smart grid deployment.

Abstract

The transition toward renewable energy is critical to achieving global sustainability goals, with solar power playing a significant role in diversifying energy sources. This study examines the effect of the 7 MWp Selong On-Grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) on electricity network stability in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five key informants, including policymakers, technical experts, and community representatives. Thematic analysis was conducted using NVivo software to identify the operational impacts, challenges, and opportunities of solar integration. Results indicate that the Selong PLTS contributes positively to voltage stability, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and diversifies the energy mix. However, challenges such as intermittency, infrastructure limitations, and the absence of energy storage hinder its full potential. The study highlights the need for technological upgrades, stakeholder collaboration, and community engagement to optimize renewable energy adoption in NTB. These findings provide actionable insights for enhancing grid stability in regions integrating renewable energy.

Abstract

The use of liquid fertilizers based on local microorganisms offers a sustainable solution for enhancing soil fertility and maize production. This study provides a comprehensive literature review of 11 Scopus-indexed articles to examine the effects of these fertilizers on soil health and crop yield. The findings reveal significant improvements in soil organic matter, microbial diversity, and nutrient availability, alongside enhanced maize growth parameters such as germination, biomass accumulation, and grain yield. Despite the variability in results due to environmental factors and application methods, these fertilizers demonstrate the potential to reduce dependency on synthetic inputs and align with sustainable agricultural practices. Challenges related to scalability, economic feasibility, and long-term impacts necessitate further research to optimize their implementation in diverse agricultural settings.

Abstract

Traditional agriculture has long been an integral part of agrarian systems in various regions, yet global challenges such as climate change and urbanization demand more sustainable approaches. This study aims to explore the opportunities and challenges of integrating traditional agricultural systems with sustainable agriculture concepts through a literature review method. The findings reveal that traditional practices, such as crop rotation and organic fertilization, align with sustainability principles. However, there is a need to enhance efficiency through the application of modern technologies such as precision irrigation and integrated pest management. This integration faces significant challenges, including farmers' limited access to technology and a lack of supportive policies. The study highlights the importance of contextual approaches, farmer training, and cross-sector collaboration to optimize the potential of this integration. Thus, the findings provide relevant insights for developing sustainable agricultural policies and practices in Indonesia and other countries.
