Abstract

The capacity to solve problems is a skill that must be cultivated in order to study mathematics. Students in grade VIII MTsN 6 Padang City, however, have not fully grasped this capacity for problem solving. This study intends to describe the aptitude for mathematical problem-solving of MTsN 6 Kota Padang pupils in class VIII. Descriptive study utilizing a qualitative approach is a technique used. The outcomes demonstrated that pupils at MTsN 6 Kota Padang have a respectable aptitude for problem-solving. In the high group, they could comprehend the issue, proficient in creating and enacting action plans, and less able to reflect on the past. The medium group had a clear comprehension of the issue, but they struggled to come up with ideas, put them into action, and assess their effectiveness. Abstract

If we talks about learning of mathematics, one of the goals is in order that the students are able to get communication of mathematics ability, however the students at Phase E SMA Negeri 5 Padang have not been successful in doing so. The results of this ability's initial testing account for this. The TPSQ (Think Pair Square) cooperative learning model, which focuses on equation and square function resources, is used to effort this issue by enhancing the students' mathematical communication abilities. The Phase E SMA Negeri 5 Padang student population for the academic year 2022-2023 is used in this research. Quasy experiment and Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design were used in this study. Two groups of samples are collected using simple random sampling. Quizzes and final test of mathematical ability are the study's instruments. The test-t is employed to demonstrate the research hypothesis. 0,004 is the P-value, based on data analysis. When the P-value is < α=0,05,  is either rejected or accepted . In summary, at SMA Negeri 5 Padang's Phase E, students who use the TPSQ cooperative learning model have superior mathematics communication abilities than those who use the direct learning approach.Keywords– Cooperative Learning Model Type Think Pair Square, Mathematical Communication Abilities

Abstract

Abstract – Learners need to have strong communication skills in mathematics. The pupils in class VIII MTsN 1 in Padang City exhibited poor mathematics communication abilities throughout the academic year 2023/2024. This was shown by the mathematical communication exam that they took. This technique of learning via duo work may be helpful in enhancing these mathematical communication abilities. This study makes use of a pseudo experiment using a static group design for its methodology. We utilised a straightforward random sampling method. Class VIII.1 serves as the experimental group, while class VIII.5 serves as the control. When compared to pupils who had received their education via direct learning, those who had participated in cooperative learning through the type pair check model demonstrated significant improvement in their mathematics communication abilities (P-Value = 0.000 = 0.05).Keywords. – Mathematical Communication Abilities, Pair Check

Abstract

Due to the insufficient problem-solving skills of VII pupils, this study was conducted. To counteract this, research was conducted to enhance students' problem-solving abilities through the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. The purpose of the study is to determine and describe the mathematical problem-solving ability of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 25 Padang whose learning with the CTL approach is superior to their mathematical problem-solving ability with the traditional learning model. And to understand and describe the development of mathematical problem-solving skills in students using the CTL method. This investigation utilised a quasi-experimental design. The design employed is a "Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design" with a random sampling strategy. Using the normality test, the homogeneity test, and the hypothesis test, mathematical problem-solving ability data was analysed. Based on the hypothesis test, P = 0.015 was obtained. Since P = 0.05, the null hypothesis H0 should be rejected. This suggests that students whose education utilises the CTL approach are more adept at solving mathematical problems. Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the comparison between two instructional models, namely the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, and Extending (CORE) model and direct instruction, on the mathematical concept comprehension of 12th-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh. The research method employed a quasi-experimental approach with two sample groups, one as the experimental group implementing the CORE model, and the other as the control group receiving direct instruction. The results of the study indicated that students who underwent the CORE model demonstrated a better understanding of mathematical concepts compared to those who received direct instruction. These findings are relevant for enhancing the quality of mathematics education at the high school level and illustrate that interactive learning approaches like CORE can improve understanding of mathematical concept, particularly when adapted to students' needs.Keywords—Understanding of mathematical concepts, CORE, Direct learning

Abstract

One of the things that is very crucial for students is having a good learning outcomes. However, the reality low learning outcomes are often found in mathematics learning. Such as Phase E students at SMAN 3 Bukittinggi whose mathematics learning achievements remain relatively modest. In this case, Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) is the solution. The objective of this case is to examine the disparities in mathematics learning results between students who were educated using the TSTS type cooperative learning strategy and those who were educated using comventional learning models in Phase E of SMAN 3 Bukittinggi. This type of study is a quasy experiment and a nonequivalent post-test only control group research design.  The populace of this study were Phase E students of SMAN 3 Bukittinggi. The sampling method employed in this case is Simple Random Sampling, resulting in class X.E.4 being selected as the ecperimental group and class X.E.9 as the control group the acquisition of data in the research is conducted using a final test in the form of a learning achievement test which was analyzed by the t test. The finding of the research analysis on the results of the final test with the help of Minitab software, obtained P-value = 0.001 at a significant level of a = 0.05, this indicates that the students who implemented the TSTS type cooperative learning model achieved betted learning achievements compared to the students who studied using conventional learning in Phase E of SMAN 3 Bukittinggi. Thus, based on the research findings, it can be gathered that the implementation of the TSTS cooperative learning strategy significantly influenced the student performance of Phase E students at SMAN 3 Bukittinggi.Keywords – Two Stay Two Stray, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Achievements/objectives of mathematics subjects include mastery of understanding mathematical concepts that students need to have. In fact, the ability of class VIII students of SMPN 2 Koto XI Tarusan in this regard is still relatively low. The cause of this is learning that is still focused on educators. To overcome this, the NHT type cooperative model in learning can be used as a solution. Quasi-experimental is a type of research that uses a non-equivalent posttest -only control group design. Meanwhile, 94 students in class VIII SMPN 2 Koto XI Tarusan make up the population. In selecting  sample, the researcher used a simple random sampling method. Class VIII.1 was chosen as the experimental class and class VIII.2 was chosen as the control class. Based on the hypothesis test with a significant level of  = 0.05 and obtain a P-value = 0.000. This can be interpreted as a P-value <  = 0.05 causes  to be rejected. This research concludes that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who study with the NHT cooperative learning model is better than students who learn with the direct learning model in class VIII SMPN 2 Koto XI Tarusan.. Keywords– Ability to Understand Mathematical Concepts, NHT Type Cooperative Learning Model, Direct Learning.

Abstract

This research is useful to find out the increase in students' problem-solving abilities with the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model supported by interactive multimedia compared to without applying this model. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a population of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 13 Padang for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sample is the experimental class and the control class which are drawn randomly. The experimental class is a class that applies the PBL model supported by interactive multimedia and the control class is a class that does not apply this model. The research instrument is an essay question that is used in the final test. From the results of the study it was explained that the implementation of the PBL model supported by interactive multimedia was able to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities, as evidenced by the average score of the final test indicators of experimental class students higher than the control class, as well as the mathematical problem solving abilities of students whose learning using the PBL model was better than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students whose learning uses direct learning models. So it was concluded that the students' mathematical problem solving abilities in the experimental class were better than the control class so that the PBL model supported by interactive multimedia was able to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities in the experimental class.Keywords– Problem Based Learning, Problem Solving Abilities, Interactive Multimedia

Abstract

Mathematic has a main goals for students to have problem-solving abilities. However, students’ mathematical problem-solving skills are still low due to teacher-centered learning approaches. The proposed solution is to implement Two Stay Two  Stray (TSTS) instructional model, and therefore this study is aimed to figure out the impact on mathematical problem-solving abilities by using TSTS instructional model. Quasy Experiment is the research method that employed with a design known as the Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. All 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 40 Padang during the 2022/2023 academic year is the population, and there were two samples. This study using an instrument which is a final test. Using the outcomes of the hypothesis test from the conclusive examination acquired a P-value was 0.000 (0,05), which indicates rejecting the null hypothesis (. Abstract

Mathematics learning can be said to be achieved if students understand mathematical concepts, one of its objectives. Based on observations, class XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 4 Bukittinggi have low understanding of mathematical concepts. Using the connecting, organizing, reflecting, extending (CORE) learning model can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This model uses a discussion method to activate and develop students' thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to find out whether students who took lessons using the CORE learning model had better understanding of mathematical concepts than students who took lessons using conventional learning models in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Bukittinggi. Research methods are quasi-experimental. SMA Negeri 4 Bukittinggi's class XI MIPA students in the 2022/2023 academic year were the population of this study. Sampling was done randomly (simple random sampling), XI MIPA 1 was selected as the experimental class and XI MIPA 4 as the control class. This study used essays to test understanding of mathematical concepts. Using data analysis, it was determined that the CORE learning model affected students' understanding of mathematical concepts, students with the CORE learning model understood mathematical concepts better than students with conventional learning models at  α = 0.05.Keywords – CORE learning model,  understanding of mathematical concepts, conventional learning model.
