The Journal of Indonesian Tourism and Policy Studies (JITPS) covers tourism studies, recreation studies and policies related to their development in Indonesia. The expected research can also include studies on Indonesian tourism related to social, cultural, economic, political, management, health, environmental, technology, policy, etc. issues. The aim is to achieve the objectives of the Indonesian Journal of Tourism and Policy Studies, namely as a portal and instrument for the development of tourism science in Indonesia from various aspects and perspectives. Therefore, not only as paper-based-field-research, this journal will become a portal for tourism implementation studies and related literature reviews.

Abstract

The internship program is an integral part of the Vocational School Higher Education curriculum. Various knowledge and experiences can be obtained directly as long as students carry out their internships in industries or companies. In a pandemic situation that has recently lasted for approximately two years, the internship program for students within the company is also ongoing even though with different methods and methods, namely what is called WFH (Work From Home). For students, internships are not only an opportunity to learn practical work in the world of work, internships also mean an opportunity to learn about the culture of other people or companies. The internship program is an opportunity for students to learn more about how to adapt to other people's cultures or the existing company culture. With a qualitative approach, this paper tries to explore more deeply how the internship program is a good opportunity for students to be able to know or learn about cultural issues from other people, which include: work culture, time discipline, and other existing habits in a company.

Abstract

Indonesia as a maritime axis, of course, will not be separated from maritime culture and technology. The maritime axis is a development paradigm needed by maritime-based regions such as Labuan Bajo. Maritime culture should be the original culture of Indonesia, because Indonesia is an archipelagic country. However, the development of tourist villages located on the coast requires a special planning program that is in accordance with the characteristics of the community, geography, and socio-culture so that tourism development is sustainable. This study aims to create a digital-based and sustainable independent tourism village development program. The concept used is sustainable tourism, marine tourism village and through community development to buildhuman capital. The creation of human resource capacity, in this case local communities, who do understand these maritime attitudes and values. By combining the concept of maritime culture and the concept of community development. The results of research for the development of marine tourism villages require an approach with aspects of digitalization technology that can be used as an information center containing the results of internalizing maritime culture with local wisdom and infrastructure facilities to accelerate economic growth. Digitization is used for the community, one of which is fishermen, business actors in the tourism sector and small and medium businesses through digital platforms, so that they can create an information data network in the form of big data as a means ofeconomic digitization infrastructure, and human capital development through human resource development and digital literacy. Products in the form of physical, consisting of arts, culinary arts, building arts (Architecture) and non-physical in the form of norms and values that are in accordance with maritime culture, which then becomes an information attraction both from the tourism element and the implementation of maritime culture which has economic value. for the development of sustainable marine tourism villages.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the well-known international tourist destinations, one of which is through its culinary diversity. The variety of culinary culture in Indonesia cannot be separated from the historical stories and characteristics of each region. With these peculiarities, Indonesian cuisine must of course receive special attention in the promotion process. In the world of culinary marketing, there is a concept known as gastronomy branding. This concept briefly means doing marketing communication activities about food. Mass media, especially films, can be a channel for mass communication to carry out this gastronomy branding activity. Through its reach, films can convey a gastronomy branding communication message to introduce Indonesian cuisine to a wide audience, both nationally and internationally. One of the Indonesian films that raises the culinary specialties of the archipelago is "Aruna & Her Palate". This research qualitatively, through literature study, will present a representation of gastronomy branding that is shown through the film "Aruna & Her Palate".

Abstract

The great potential of music tourism has not been optimized in Indonesia. Meanwhile, music tourism is increasingly becoming one of the forms of new economic growth. The growth of music festival from year to year has also made the Indonesian people, especially the younger generation, make music as one of their needs and lifestyles. The number, diversity, and popularity of music festivals in Indonesia have grown tremendously. That’s why Indonesia needs to encourage tourism potentials, one of which is the potential of music festivals that plays a role in creating city image and city branding. This study seeks to see the potential of music tourism and the role of music festivals for city branding. This research is using descriptive methodology seeks to contribute to the development of tourism in Indonesia, by exploring a special interest in tourism, namely music tourism, which is still a new formula in tourism in Indonesia. In addition, it seeks to see the best practices of music festivals in several countries that have succeeded in building the image of the city. Then the DOT-BAS-POS brand and marketing strategy can be used for the creation and development of music tourism in Indonesia. Through this research, it is hoped that the city government, community and society, the tourism sector and universities can work together in the future to encourage and drive music tourism in various tourist destinations in cities in Indonesia by combining natural beauty and music festivals.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the performance of tour guides serving visitors and identify the obstacles that exist in the implementation of tour guide activities at the TMII West Sumatra Pavilion. The research method used is descriptive qualitative by means of interviews. observation, and literature study. The results show that the performance of the tour guide in serving visitors is still lacking in terms of discipline, appearance and suitability of working hours, so it can be concluded that the performance of the tour guide does not meet the requirements in the context of excellent service. The unavailability of local tour guides who master foreign languages, making foreign visitors who are not accompanied by a tour leader or tour guide can only enjoy the existing art props without a detailed explanation by a tour guide, and Tour Guides at the West Sumatra Pavilion, the attention, attitude, and action given to visitors are still not optimal. This research contributes practically to the service of tour guides at the TMII West Sumatra Park.

Abstract

The Purpose of this study to determine the efforts that can be made to increase the number of visitors to the Pasar Baru area, Central Jakarta because this area has a lot of tourist attractions that can be managed properly, that can become an attractive attraction in Pasar Baru area and also this area is full supported by the local government, which is always trying to develop tourism potential in Pasar Baru area. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection was done by interview, observation, and literature study. This research activity was held from January -June 2021. Based on the results of research in the field that Pasar Baru area has various kinds of tourist activities that can be enjoyed by tourists such as: shopping, sight seeing, enjoying historical buildings, taking pictures and others. To make Pasar Baru as one of the tourist destinations of choice, the local government already has a planning for the development of the Pasar Baru tourist destination in the form of a revitalization plan for Pasar Baru area. Have to buils a good collaboration from all elements such as: business people, media partners, academics and the public who participate in the development of Pasar Baru Area as a one of favorite tourism destination in Central Jakarta.
