Abstract

Building a website should be designed based on the experience of the user, as the user who uses the web service. The basics of user experience are needed in designing a library website. The better the user experience in using a library website, the better the quality of a library's web service will be. Building a library web system requires knowledge of User Experience (UX), so that user satisfaction and convenience can be met. Web-oriented user experience can provide an impressive experience for users with features and content that is not confusing and easy to understand. With the steps in arranging UX into elements, we can better understand the overall task of building a website. According to Jesse James Garett, these elements are divided into five, namely: the strategy plane, the scope plane, the structure plane, the skeleton plane, and the surface plane.

Abstract

The user interface of digital libraries during the special conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic is one of the leading indicators that need attention from libraries. Library users will always choose easy access, fast and recommended by library users by word of mouth. The User Interface will affect the user experience in using the digital library. This research is essential to find out the description of user experience in using digital libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to describe the user experience, which includes emotions, perceptions, attitudes, and responses in using digital libraries. This study uses a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review method using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) software guide from Kitchenham. User experience in using digital libraries is influenced by emotions and perceptions of digital library users because the urgency of using digital library services is increasingly substantial during the pandemic. In conclusion, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the user experience, especially in the crisis that has created user awareness to use digital libraries. Considering that research related to User Experience in digital libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic is still lacking, the researchers suggest that further research be carried out with a quantitative approach to obtain valid data.

Abstract

This study aims to: describe the practice of implementing knowledge management in the management of the Jurnal Pustaka Ilmiah Journal, and to find out what activities are oriented towards increasing the culture of sharing knowledge in the management of the Jurnal Pustaka Ilmiah Journal. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using interview, observation and documentation methods. The informants in this study were the managers of the current and previous Jurnal Pustaka Ilmiah Journal, amounting to 4 people. The data presented in a narrative format and equipped with supporting pictures in several parts. The findings of this study are that Jurnal Pustaka Ilmiah Journal’s human resources was still very limited, but have a strong commitment. Jurnal Pustaka Ilmiah Journal was led by an egalitarian leadership style. Communication between managers is carried out over various media both synchronously and asynchronously. Institutions play a role in providing material-immaterial support in this matter even though the intensity is still limited to ceremonial. Meanwhile, the learning process in managing Jurnal Pustaka Ilmiah Journal found that managers did not hesitate to try new things to improve the quality of journal management. The success of the knowledge transfer process is not the success of the journal manager alone, but rather needs to get support from various elements, such as the participation of parent institutions which is not limited to ceremonial to create a strong and professional management. This will have implications for increasing the confidence of readers and writers in Jurnal Pustaka Ilmiah as a credible reference in the field of library and information sciences.

Abstract

Research purposes is analyze and describe the Effect of Professional Development of Librarians on Career Development of Librarians at Hasanuddin University. This research is quantitative. The research subject is Hasanuddin University librarian. Determination of respondents using purposive sampling method. The number of respondents was 48 civil servant librarians. Collecting data through the distribution of questionnaires and documentation. Descriptive statistical data analysis and multiple linear regression. The study found that partially only the innovative work of librarians affected the career development of librarians at Hasanuddin University. Meanwhile, self-development and scientific publications do not affect the career development of librarians at Hasanuddin University. Then simultaneously self-development, scientific publications and innovative works affect the career development of librarians at Hasanuddin University. Barriers to librarians in professional development are the lack of motivation of librarians; less confident; less focus; ability or knowledge and skills; limited time due to work; less productivity due to environmental factors; limited budget and forum for professional development activities; lack of attention and appreciation from the leadership or agency. Meanwhile, the lack of opportunity and narrow insight is not an obstacle. Furthermore, the obstacles for librarians in career development are lack of strength or ability, feeling satisfied with the position they have, lack of cooperation or a supportive network in their environment. Meanwhile, unsure of the librarian's competence, lack of responsibility such as lazy, likes to be late, often not in the office; lack of strength or ability; lack of information is not obstacle for librarians in career development activities.

Abstract

Libraries as one of the information service providers do not escape the obligation to break the chain of COVID 19, they work around this by closing, reducing the number of visitor and changing their information services from manual to electronic or digital information services, even though in previous activities electronic services have also been held but is increasing due to the impact of COVID 19. University libraries in general and the UWKS Library in particular already have organized digital services with electronic repositories, e-book collections, e-journal subscriptions in line with the needs of the academic community who need information quickly and often they get it without having to come to the library because of the ease of access from anywhere with the help of information technology. This study aims to describe the optimization of digital services at the Wijaya Kusuma University Library in its role in meeting the information needs of the academic community, using a qualitative descriptive research approach with librarian staff, user and the Head of the Wijaya Kusuma University Library as resource persons. The results show that the UWKS Library already has and serves digital information from various digital media, namely: E-library, E-reporitory, E-journal owned and managed by various study programs within the Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya and subscribes to Emerald insight in in the fields of engineering and economics, but its utilization is still not maximized because there has been no socialization and training to utilize digital information sources properly and correctly

Abstract

One type of library collection that must be digitized is the gray literature collection, namely the literature typical of the institution, both published and unpublished. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation and process of digitization in the Unsri Library and also the processing of gray literature. The method used is descriptive qualitative research method with a comparative approach and data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and literature study. The results of this study indicate that the process of media transfer for Gray Literature manuscripts in the Sriwijaya University Library is the identification and checking (validation) of collections in the database; separation of collections that will be transferred and those that will not (including list generation); media transfer and file processing; upload process to system; and destruction of print collections when they are no longer needed by making a report.
