Abstract

The challenges for libraries today are enormous. As a growing organization, libraries must keep up with the times and the increasingly diverse information technology to survive and not be eroded by the times. Various efforts need to be made to maintain the library's existence by consistently providing the best service and involving the aspirations of the community served. This research aims to help improve the existence of UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Library as supporting the tri dharma of higher education. The approach in this research is qualitative with the type of field research. The data collection method was conducted through focus group discussion (FGD). Participants in this FGD are students, lecturers, and academic staff representatives. The results of this study found that several things need to be considered to improve the library's existence, including various aspects, namely policies, services, collections, facilities, literacy activities, cleanliness, and human resources. The contribution of this research is used as a guideline to improve library governance and provide many conveniences to library users so that they feel the library's existence.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of service based on the skills of the librarian in the University library Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods, techniques collecting data using interviews, direct observation and documentation. The results of this study are characteristics librarian skills that should be poured in the service are as follows: (1) with services provided in accordance with the requirements (2) Oriented to the user. (3) Ongoing rapid time and on target. (4) Walking is easy and simple. (5) Cheap and economical. (6) Attractive, fun, and creates a feeling of sympathy. (7) varied. (8) Suave. (9) Characteristically innovative and direct. (10) able to compete in the field of the other. (11) Ability to foster a sense of trust for users, to be independent and to develop new things if those characteristics as a whole are met then the quality of service is categorized as “very good” and if only some characters met then categorized as “good” and if only a little bit of character above are met then it will be categorized as “fair”. In conclusion The quality of service based on the skills of librarians in the library UST can be categorized as “good” because it meets most of the overall criteria such as: attractive, Participate in every workshop and seminar on libraries and librarianship, Endeavor mastering technological, oriented to the user and Courtesy and decisively against violations.

Abstract

The management of scientific journals in order to achieve national accredited scientificjournals requires an effective and efficient Journal Management and ManagementSystem. Management and Management Systems This journal should refer tothe instruments and criteria required by the accreditation of national journals andinternational indexing agencies. Periodical Manager of Library and Information Sciencehas implemented most of the instruments and criteria set out in accordance withthe Director General of Hig. Abstract

Segala bentuk kutipan yang dicantumkan penulis di dalam tulisannya perlu dicantumkan sitasi dan referensinya. Melalui penggunaan aplikasi sitasi, penulis dimudahkan dengan bank data bibliografi dan pencantuman daftar pustaka. Studi ini menjabarkan perilaku penggunaan aplikasi sitasi mahasiswa program studi magister Ilmu Komunikasi Fikom Unpad 2018 sebanyak 49 orang. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa hanya setengah dari jumlah total mahasiswa yang telah aktif menggunakan aplikas sitasi. Mendeley adalah aplikasi sitasi yang paling banyak digunakan dibanding aplikasi sitasi lainnya. Alasan utama mahasiswa lainnya belum menggunakan aplikasi sitasi adalah perlunya pendampingan dan mereka terbiasa mencantumkan sitasi secara manual. Hampir sebagian dari mereka mulai menggunakan aplikasi sitasi baru-baru ini yaitu saat mengambil perkuliahan magister dan disarankan oleh dosen di kelas. Sedangkan kesulitan dirasakan mahasiswa pada awal penggunaan aplikasi sitasi. Studi juga mengungkapkan kelebihan dan kekurangan dari aplikasi yang digunakan, serta saran dan harapan mahasiswa terkait penggunaan aplikasi sitasi. Mendeley sebagai aplikasi sitasi yang paling banyak digunakan dinilai mudah setelah sering digunakan, dapat menyimpan file artikel yang telah diunduh, otomatis membaca metadata file yang diunggah di dalam Mendeley, dan dapat menelusur referensi yang telah ada di Internet melalui Mendeley. Namun kekurangannya adalah pengguna perlu memahami perlunya parafrase dan penulisan kapitalisasi metadata pada gaya sitasi yang disyaratkan, memerlukan akses internet untuk sinkronisasi data, dan sering error. Sedangkan saran dan harapan terkait penggunaan aplikasi sitasi ini di antaranya adalah perlunya diagendakan pelatihan dan pendampingan penggunaan aplikasi sitasi secara intensif di awal perkuliahan serta perlunya mahasiswa membiasakan diri dalam menggunakan aplikasi sitasi.All forms of quotations that the author lists in his writing need to include citations and references. Through the use of citation applications, the author is facilitated with bibliographic data banks and the inclusion of bibliography. This study outlines the behavior of 49 people using the citation application for 2018 Unpad Communication Science students in Master of Communication Science. The results of the study show that only half of the total number of students who have been active uses citation applications. Mendeley is the most widely used citation application compared to other citation applications. The main reason other students have not used the citation application is the need for mentoring and they are accustomed to listing citations manually. Nearly some of them started using the citation application recently, namely when taking master lectures and suggested by lecturers in the class. While the difficulties felt by students at the beginning of the use of citation applications. The study also revealed the advantages and disadvantages of the application used, as well as suggestions and expectations of students regarding the use of citation applications. Mendeley as the most used citation application is considered easy after being used frequently, can save downloaded article files, automatically reads the metadata of files uploaded in Mendeley, and can search for references that already exist on the Internet through Mendeley. But the disadvantage is that users need to understand the need for paraphrasing and writing capitalization of metadata in the required citation styles, requiring internet access for data synchronization, and frequent errors. While the suggestions and expectations related to the use of this citation application include the need to schedule training and assistance in the use of intensive citation applications at the beginning of the lecture and the need for students to get used to using the citation application.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology makes information spread and open which can be accessed from anywhere and at any time. The development of information technology must also be balanced with the ability to search and identify information properly and correctly, which is then known as information literacy. But this ability is not yet fully owned by information users, especially students. This makes the ability of information literacy is an urgent matter, especially on scientific information. Departing from the low level of scientific information literacy, students need to receive scientific information literacy training, especially in the early years of lectures. This research uses research and development (RD) methods. Literacy class participants used as informants in this study were determined randomly, which came from the first year students of each study program in the academic year 2019/2020. In the initial stage of this study a measurement of the level of knowledge and literacy ability of students of trainees (classes) was carried out using a pretest. In the next stage class material was carried out as well as practice in order to obtain results in the form of applied skills that could be directly applicable. The material includes general knowledge about scientific information, effective search methods and strategies, searching of electronic journal portal both paid and open access, as well as using and evaluating information including citations. At the final stage of this study a posttest was conducted to see the extent of the effectiveness of this training model and class participants’ understanding of scientific information literacy after attending literacy classes. The results of this program show an increase in students’ information literacy skills.

Abstract

The library is a source of life long learning and has an important role process in higher education. This study intends to test and prove the quality of digital libraries on student learning achievement. The research method uses a descriptive quantitative approach with a sample of Indonesian Islamic University (UII) students who submitted free literature as a condition for registering graduation month January-March 2020 a total of 126 students. Sampling using a non-probability method by means of convenience sampling. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and multiple regression. The results showed that partially there were 4 accepted hypotheses and 3 rejected hypotheses. The accepted hypotheses are: H1: the quality of digital libraries (X) on academic achievement (Y). H2: system development (X1) on Academic Achievement (Y). H3: means of promotion (X2) on academic achievement (Y). H5: means of sharing information (X4) on academic achievement (Y). While the rejected hypothesis is H4: deposit and preservation function (X3) on academic achievement (Y). H6: collaboration between institutions (X5) on academic achievement (Y). H7: online learning resources (X6) on academic achievement (Y). Furthermore, from the results of Multiple Regression Analysis, it is proven that simultaneously variables X, X1, X2, X3, X4, X5 and X6 have an effect on variable Y with an effect of 57.4%, while the remaining 42.6% is influenced by other factors whose variables are not studied in this study. The recommendation given is the need for improvements in the dimensions of e-learning learning resources and the dimensions of meeting information needs in the field of entertainment and recreation for users.

Abstract

This study aims to determine e-research on the Digital Service Library of Universitas Sumatera Utara in supporting the mission of Universitas Sumatera Utara as a research university. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Research informants are users of Digital Services, namely Lecturers and Postgraduate Students who are conducting research. Informants were taken using snowball sampling. During the data collection process, eleven key informants were netted, namely six lecturers, five postgraduate students. One additional informant is the Digital Service Librarian. The results showed that e-research at the Digital Service Library of Universitas Sumatera Utara was first, information retrieval, namely the assistance provided by librarians to users in finding references relevant to the research topic. Second, e-resources, namely electronic information sources: e-repository, e-journal, e-thesis, and e-dissertation. Third, information literacy, namely training on the use of online databases, e-journal and e-book searches. Fourth, global network, namely internet facilities with bandwidth 30 Mbps and wifi for library users who are doing research. The conclusion that can be drawn is that e-research in the Digital Services Library of Universitas Sumatera Utara has supported the mission of Universitas Sumatera Utara as a research university. Digital Services has acted as a mediator and facilitator in research activities at Universitas Sumatera Utara. The facilities in Digital Services are used to build research excellence and maintain the status of Universitas Sumatera Utara as a global research university.

Abstract

Covid-19 has now spread rapidly throughout the world, many impacts have oc- curred since the existence of Covid-19 in various sectors, especially in the education sector. In Indonesia, many school children find it difficult with the policies issued by the government regarding the implementation of online learning because of the limited media to support the learning process. For this reason, media such as digital libraries are needed as a source of knowledge and student learning so that the teaching and learning process can run optimally. The purpose of this study is to find out digital library research in school libraries in the Covid-19 era through analysis on digital library activities in school libraries, research methods used in research, and also the type of school library. The author uses a narrative literature review research method using several references obtained from the Google Scholar database with a range of publications from 2013 to 2022. The results of this study indicate that digital library activities in school libraries are very useful in the teach- ing and learning process during the pandemic and many schools who designs and develops a web-based digital library. As for the analysis of the research methods on the references studied, many of them used descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. Then the type of school library used is based on references, namely using a website-based digital library or application. Digital libraries can support the online learning process and can be accessed anywhere and anytime.

Abstract

The library in this modern era in the advancement of information technology needsto be developed towards data integeration. Network communication between librariescan be a means of good learning, effective and efficient. The problem often encounteredin collaborating on the business process for integeration of library data is the differenceof application to the user of each part. Technology that can integrate data eventhough different applications / platforms on end users with web service technology.With the web service for RESTFul method can bridge the integration of data exchangefor book refrence in library so that can be know where and where book have referencesto references book or document needed. Restful technology is created with java classand database as prototype and simulation. Clear and viable business processes can beintegrated into an integrated information system.

Abstract

Tujuan kajian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi artikel yang dimuat dalam Jurnal Kajian Ilmu Perpustakaan pada tahun 2014 – 2018. Data kajian diambil dari 76 artikel yang dipublikasikan secara online oleh jurnal kajian informasi dan perpustakaan periode 2014 – 2018. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memeriksa dan mencatat seluruh informasi terkait jumlah artikel, jumlah sitiran, jumlah penulis, kepengarangan secara inidivdu dan kolaborasi, tingkat produktivitas penulis, tingkat kolaborasi serta sebaran instansi dan profesi penulis. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatifdan menghitung tingkat kolaborasi menggunakan rumus Subramayan.Hasil kajian menunjukan bahwa dari total keseluruhan 76 artikel, jumlah artikel terbanyak ditulis oleh 3 orang pengarang yaitu sebanyak 45 judul artikel (59,21%) dengan derajat kolaborasi sebesar 0,89. Penulis yang menduduki peringkat pertama dalam produktivitas penulis adalah Pawit M. Yusup yang telah menulis 12 artikel dalam JKIP tahun 2014-2018. Instansi yang paling berpartisipasi dalam penulisan artikel adalah Prodi Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Padjadjaran yaitu sebanyak 139 kali (76,36%). Adapun profesi penulis yang paling banyak berpartisipasi dalam penulisan artikel adalah dari kalangan dosen yaitu sebanyak 119 kali (65,38%).The purpose of the study was to identify articles published in the Science Library Progress Journal in 2014 - 2018. The subject of this study is 76 articles published online by the information and library study journal for the period 2014-2018. The method of data collection is done by checking and recording all information related to the number of articles, number of citations, number of authors, authorship and collaboration, the level of author productivity, the level of collaboration and the distribution of agencies and professional writers. The analytical method used is a qualitative descriptive method and calculates the level of collaboration using the Subramayan formula.The results of the study showed that of the total 76 articles, the highest number of articles written by 3 authors is 45 articles (59.21%) with a collaboration degree of 0.89. The author who ranked first in the author’s productivity was Pawit M. Yusup who has written 12 articles in JKIP in 2014-2018. The institution that most often participates in article writing is the Department of Library Science at Padjadjaran University, which is 139 times (76.36%). The profession of the writers who participated most in writing articles was from the lecturers, namely 119 times (65.38%).
