Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of GRDP in the industrial, transportation, and agricultural sectors on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in Central Java Province. This study is important because there has been a change in the structure of the economy from agriculture to industry and services in Central Java, which has sparked fears of an increase in CO2 emissions that damage the quality of the environment. The objectives of this study were achieved by using time series data from 2001-2020 and analyzed by multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that the GRDP of the industrial sector has a positive and significant effect on CO2 emissions, the GRDP of the transportation sector has a negative and significant effect, while the GRDP of the agricultural sector has no effect.

Abstract

Humans are any region’s main source of development. Therefore, improvement on their quality, which is measured through Human Development Index (HDI), is necessary. Cities and regencies in Papua city are high in discrepancy concerning the said index. Therefore, the roles of the government as the policy makers are crucial. The objective of this research is to identify the effects of local own-source revenue and special autonomy funds on HDI with capital expenditures as the moderating variable. This research uses secondary data from 29 regencies and cities in Papua province, from 2017 to 2021 and was analyzed through panel data regression with interaction. The hypothesis testing and the model feasibility assessment were conducted using t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination test. This study finds that local own-source revenue, special autonomy funds, and capital expenditures negatively and significantly influence HDI. Furthermore, capital expenditures as the moderating variable were found to strengthen the partial effects of local own-source revenue and special autonomy funds to HDI. Finally, this research is expected to serve as evaluation material and reference for the government in its policy-making processes and to enrich the treasury of knowledge in financial literacy.

Abstract

The welfare of the community is the primary goal in the economic development of a region, and this can be achieved through rapid economic growth and equitable income distribution. In reality, East Java Province has not yet achieved equal prosperity, as evidenced by an increasing trend of inequality that has not reached its lowest point during the period of this research. Therefore, there is a need to accelerate the reduction of inequality by understanding the various factors influencing inequality in East Java. Through a simultaneous model using the three-stage least square (3SLS) method, this study attempts to estimate the impact of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) per capita and the health index on income inequality. It also analyzes the factors influencing the growth of PDRB per capita in East Java. The data used for this research is sourced from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) for the years 2011-2021.The research findings indicate that the growth of PDRB per capita and the health index significantly and positively affect income inequality. The factors influencing the growth of PDRB per capita in East Java include the education index and capital accumulation. Based on these results, the government and relevant stakeholders need to promote a more even distribution across sectors in each region of East Java Province and strengthen health aspects for groups with low incomes.
