Abstract

High economic growth and increased spending on social assistance and education spending still causes relatively high levels of poverty in the Districts/Cities of East Java Province in 2013-2022. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze and determine the influence of economic growth, social assistance spending, and education spending on poverty in the Districts/Cities of East Java Province. The type of data used is panel data from 38 districts/cities for ten years using the panel data regression analysis method. The research results show that social assistance spending has a negative and significant effect on poverty, education spending has a negative and significant effect on poverty, and economic growth has a positive and significant effect on poverty. This is because the capital-intensive sector is growing more rapidly than the labor-intensive sector. So, the government needs to make efforts to increase employment-based sectors and be able to absorb more workers, especially in capital-intensive sectors which make a greater contribution to economic growth in the districts/cities of East Java Province.

Abstract

The existence of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020 has a significant impact on the global economy and also Indonesia. One of the impacts is the increase in the unemployment rate. The GRDP growth rate is often used as an indicator in analysing the unemployment rate where when the GRDP growth rate increases, it will have an impact on reducing the unemployment rate, but in this case the increase in GRDP growth before and after the pandemic is not balanced by a decrease in the unemployment rate which is actually higher than before the pandemic. The unemployment rate can also be influenced by many factors such as UMP, Investment and Inflation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine how much influence these factors have on the open unemployment rate in 34 provinces in Indonesia in 2017-2022. Using the panel data regression analysis method with the selected model, namely the fixed effect model, the results of this study show that GRDP, UMP and Inflation have a significant negative effect on the open unemployment rate, Covid 19 has a significant positive effect on the open unemployment rate, while Investment has an insignificant negative effect on the open unemployment rate.

Abstract

Gerbangkertosusila is a development area that contributes the largest income in East Java. However, the high Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in this region is apparently followed by a high unemployment rate. Therefore, it is necessary to identify and develop leading sectors that have the potential to absorb a lot of labor. This study aims to analyze the influence of each leading sector on labor absorption in the Gerbangkertosusila region from 2013 to 2022. The sectors analyzed include the manufacturing industry sector, construction sector, trade and repair sector, accommodation and food beverage supply sector, also information and communication sector. The results of the analysis show that the manufacturing industry sector and the trade and repair sector are effective in absorbing a lot of labor. Meanwhile, the construction sector, accommodation and food beverage supply sector, and information and communication sector are less effective in absorbing labor. The two sectors that are effective in absorbing a lot of labor should be the main focus of regional development in order to increase regional economic growth, increase community income, and reduce the unemployment rate.

Abstract

The increase in the number of informal workers in Malang City occurred during the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic. On the other hand, the average wage or salary for informal workers in Malang City experienced a decline when the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic began. However, the average wage or salary is starting to improve with an increase of 41.05% from 2021 to 2022. The amount of this increase can be indicated to be accompanied by an increase in labor productivity where wages and labor productivity have a very reciprocal relationship. Moreover, productivity is an important element in measuring economic activity. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify factors that influence labor productivity in the informal sector during the Covid-19 pandemic in Malang City. The data in the research were obtained from Sakernas data for 2021 and 2022. This research used quantitative descriptive methods with cross section data regression. The analysis model used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis show that in 2021 training, digital technology, marital status and number of family members will influence the productivity of informal workers. Meanwhile, in 2022 education, training, digital technology, marital status, age and number of family members will influence the productivity of informal workers in Malang City.

Abstract

Unemployment is a macroeconomic problem that hinders regional development and gives rise to other social problems. West Jawa Province is the province with the highest open unemployment rate in Indonesia. Various factors contribute to this problem, so this research aims to explore the influence of the Minimum Wage and Economic Growth. This research uses secondary data 18 regencies and 9 cities in West Jawa Province and uses dynamic panel data regression analysis. The results of the study show that the results of the study show that when the minimum wage increases above the equilibrium, the demand for labor will decrease and the unemployment rate will increase. When economic growth increases, the demand for labor will increase which will ultimately reduce the unemployment rate.
