Abstract

Despite being the economic and governmental center, the number of impoverished people in Java Island exceeds half of the total impoverished population in Indonesia. Based on this, this research aims to examine the determinants influencing poverty in Java Island, covering 6 provinces during the period 2015-2022, based on the perspectives of pro-poor growth theory and human capital. The data used is sourced from BPS and employs panel data analysis techniques with a fixed-effect model. The research findings indicate that, individually, education and unemployment do not have a significant impact on poverty. Meanwhile, economic growth and the Human Development Index (HDI) have a negative and significant impact on poverty in Java Island. Simultaneously, economic growth, education, HDI, and unemployment collectively influence poverty in Java Island.

Dense population growth without being accompanied by maximum labor absorption on the island of Java is the cause of employment problems in Indonesia. Many problems arise, for example poverty, unemployment,This research aims to determine and analyze the influence of minimum wages and education on labor absorption on the island of Java. This research also includes inflation and economic growth as a control variable. The analytical method used is a quantitative method using time series data (2012-2022) and cross section (six provinces on the island of Java) or what is called panel data with the selection of the best model, Random Effect Model (REM) and used regression analysis. This research shows that the minimum wage and level of education has a significant effect on labor absorption on the island of Java.

Abstract

Economic growth is a benchmark for analysis of a region's development. So it is necessary to pay attention to the determinants of economic growth. Papua is a case study in this analysis because the level of economic growth is in the high category, in addition to the human development index remaining low in the last ten years. This research aims to analyze the influence of government spending according to function, human development index and investment on economic growth in Papua Province in 2011-2019. The type of data used is panel data from 29 districts/cities for eight years using the panel data regression analysis method. The results of this research show that government spending has different results for each type of government function spending. It was found that education spending and economic spending had no influence on economic growth, but the opposite was true for health spending. Apart from that, the human development and investment index explained through PMTB also has an influence on economic growth. These findings could have implications for the government in deciding policies for allocating government spending, especially for education and economic spending functions, which are still not efficient in stimulating economic growth in the Papua region.

Abstract

A decline in household consumption expenditure on health may indicate a decline in households' ability to prevent health problems and treat illnesses. The proportion of household expenditure on health consumption is very small compared to the proportion of non-health consumption. Spending on health is still not a top priority for households compared to other expenditure components. One approach to understanding intergenerational health consumption is to use the Overlapping Generations (OLG) Model. The research objective is to analyse the factors that influence health consumption with the OLG model approach. Based on the test results using FDGMM and SYSGMM analysis, the previous year's health consumption, income, savings, labour, inflation, and Government Health Insurance (JKN) affect household health consumption.   Keywords: Household, OLG Model, Health Consumption, Income, Saving, Labour, Inflation, Government Health Insurance

Central Java is a province in Indonesia that has the highest number of Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), ideally can serve as an alternative source of revenue beyond taxes to increase the Original Regional Income (PAD). However, there are several challenges in the management of BUMD, particularly with the phenomenon of the COVID-19 pandemic having a significant impact on BUMD's revenue. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of capital participation and BUMD profit on Original Regional Income (PAD) in the Districts/Cities of Central Java Province, using government investment theory and Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) theory along with related regulations. The sample used is 35 Districts/Cities in Central Java province during the period 2018 to 2022. The research method used is panel data regression using Stata 14 software. This study used two control variables, Population and GDP Per Capita, with dummy variable COVID-19. The research finding that capital participation does not significant effect on original regional income, meanwhile BUMD profit has a significant positive effect on original regional income in the Districts/Cities of Central Java Province from 2018 to 2022.

Abstract

The income of the population of a society is important for welfare because it influences its ability to meet basic needs. In Malang Regency there are around 2,685,900 people with a GDP per capita of 43.73 million rupiah in 2022. This research applies a quantitative approach. The research results show that the Covid-19 pandemic, rising fuel prices, low levels of education, people's mindsets that care less about education, economic limitations, lack of employment opportunities, and climate conditions are the causes of the high number of poor people, low levels of education, and low levels of poverty. high open unemployment. The impact is an increase in crime, limited access to education, high levels of unemployment, poverty, and a decline in prosperous economic conditions. Apart from these factors, education has a significant influence on people's income. Community income is not significantly influenced by the number of poor people and the level of open unemployment. The Malang Regency Government has implemented various programs to overcome these challenges, including Indonesian Economic Heroes (PENA), creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Malang Makmur equality education movement program (GERTAK Malang Makmur), the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), labor-intensive programs, job training programs, and the Pre-Employment Card Program.

Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country that continues to strive for improved development, measured through economic growth. However, challenges remain, such as high poverty rates, income inequality, and the worsening impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Human development in health, education, and living standards is considered crucial for promoting sustainable economic growth. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of Human Development Index components on economic growth and poverty in Indonesia during the 2018-2022 period, using data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and applying path analysis methods. The study's results show that health and per capita expenditure have a positive and significant impact on economic growth, while education and the COVID-19 pandemic do not have a significant effect. Additionally, economic growth and education do not affect poverty; however, health and per capita expenditure have a positive and significant influence on poverty, and the COVID-19 pandemic has a negative and significant impact on poverty. Furthermore, education, health, per capita expenditure, and the COVID-19 pandemic do not significantly affect poverty through economic growth.
