Abstract

Bronchopneumonia (BP) is the most common clinical manifestation of pneumonia in the pediatric population. BP is an acute inflammation of the lung parenchyma involving the bronchi or bronchioles to the alveoli, with a patchy consolidation distribution centered around the bronchi that are multifocally inflamed, usually bilateral. Bronchopneumonia in children has typical clinical symptoms, generally preceded by an upper respiratory tract infection, such as nasal congestion, fussiness, and decreased appetite. These symptoms are then followed by sudden fever reaching 39–40˚C or more, restlessness, and respiratory distress characterized by dyspnea, rapid and shallow breathing, use of accessory muscles, nasal flaring, and mouth breathing. Within a few days, respiratory symptoms may worsen. The basis of bronchopneumonia management in hospitalized patients is causal treatment with appropriate antibiotics based on the suspected etiology, as well as supportive measures such as oxygenation and hydration. This case report will discuss a pediatric patient with bronchopneumonia, the diagnostic approach, and the therapeutic management provided to achieve optimal clinical improvement.

Abstract

The fast-paced modern lifestyle has led teenagers to favor fast food over healthier home-cooked meals. This study aims to analyze the effects of fast food consumption on obesity risk among adolescents through a review of 20 relevant studies. The findings indicate that excessive consumption of fast food, along with low physical activity and social influences, significantly contributes to the increasing rates of adolescent obesity in Indonesia. Key factors include easy access, affordability, aggressive marketing, sedentary lifestyles, and a lack of nutritional education. As a result, there is a heightened risk of degenerative diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, as well as psychological issues related to low self-esteem. To address the rising trend of adolescent obesity, comprehensive interventions are necessary, including nutrition education, dietary regulation, and the promotion of active lifestyles.

Abstract

Myogenic low back pain is a complaint of pain in the lower back area caused by disorders of muscle tissue or tendons, without nerve involvement. This complaint is often experienced by individuals who perform repetitive physical activities or maintain a hunched sitting position for long periods, resulting in muscle fatigue and discomfort. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of McKenzie Exercise and infrared therapy in reducing myogenic low back pain. The study design used a one-group pre- and post-test with control design, with a total of 20 employees in the rehabilitation unit of RSU Medika Tanjung Mulia who had met the inclusion criteria. Subjects were randomly divided into two groups: Group I received McKenzie Exercise and infrared therapy interventions along with standard hospital therapy, while Group II only received standard hospital therapy. Pain levels were measured using a Numeric Rating Scale before and after the intervention. The results of statistical analysis showed a significant reduction in pain in both groups after the intervention, with a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). In addition, the results of the comparison between groups showed that the group receiving McKenzie Exercise and infrared therapy experienced a greater reduction in pain than the control group. This suggests that the combination of McKenzie Exercise and infrared therapy is more effective in reducing myogenic low back pain. This study recommends the use of both interventions as part of the physiotherapy management of low back pain caused by muscle disorders.
