Abstract

The research was conducted on “Gynecologist-patient relationship: A case study of hospitals in twin cities.” Pakistan. This study examined the relationship between doctors and patients. Specifically, a Gynecologist’s attitude towards their respective patients. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between gynecologists and hospital patients. The researcher employed a qualitative study to investigate the attitudes of gynecologists. For data collection, a sample of 15 respondents was selected, and one in-depth interview was conducted with pregnant patients (female). The researcher used a snowball and purposive sampling techniques to collect data. According to the results, patients mostly prefer female gynecologists over male gynecologists because they feel shy and hesitate to talk and discuss issues with male gynecologists. They share their health-related problems and discuss them freely and frankly with female gynecologists. Most respondents also prefer being treated in private hospitals compared to public hospitals, despite the higher fees charged by private hospitals. However, they do not want to take risks, as this can create complications during the delivery phase. The current research also shows that professional gynecologists prefer not to treat their family members because they are emotionally attached to them.

Abstract

The health field concept states that lifestyle is the most significant element influencing health. The complex process of ageing is influenced by a variety of factors that determine whether a person may develop age-related chronic diseases in their later years. These variables encompass various behavioural, environmental, and dietary factors. A healthy diet is crucial for maintaining overall well-being. One of the primary objectives of this research was to assess people’s understanding of dietary patterns. “Nutritional pattern and its impacts upon the health of citizens” was the focus of the current quantitative investigation. The current study was conducted in the city of Multan, Pakistan. The study also examines the connection between fast food and its effects on citizens’ health. The sample size consisted of 200 respondents, who were selected using basic random sampling techniques. A questionnaire was employed as a data collection instrument. As a result, statistical methods were used to gather, analyse, and interpret the data. The purpose of the current study was to investigate attitudes, practices, and knowledge related to dietary patterns. The main conclusion is that while fast food has adverse health effects, most respondents believe that healthy eating is a key factor in achieving longevity. Some respondents said that overeating was the cause of their illnesses. Many people believe that a balanced diet is an easy way to maintain good health, while it also plays a vital role in the better health of pregnant and lactating women. The study recommended that consumers avoid fast food and overeating and instead follow a balanced diet.

Abstract

This article is devoted to considering the views of the famous Polish classic Adam Mickiewicz on oriental romanticism. It is known that the Polish poet is considered the founder of Polish romanticism. At the same time, the beginning of this trend in Mickiewicz's poetry was laid by sonnets on eastern themes, which later found continuation in other forms of creativity. The creation of the West-Eastern synthesis was not accidental for his work. The fact is that even before the appearance of the cycle of poems on eastern motives, Mickiewicz wrote two unique articles ("Goethe and Byron", "On Romantic Poetry"), in which he tries to compare not only the poetic principles of two brilliant representatives of German and English literature, who influenced his work, but also to trace the origin and development of romanticism in world literature. These two articles are the object of this study. The analysis aims to determine the basic principles of the Polish poet's approach to the works of Goethe and Byron, to identify his views on the history of the origin and development of the romantic movement in world literature, and thereby establish his principles of Orientalism. The study concludes that the aforementioned theoretical works defined the eastern aspect of Mickiewicz’s romanticism and influenced his further work.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of code-switching in English language teaching at Instituto São João de Brito, Timor-Leste, a multilingual setting where English is taught as a foreign language. Building on existing research highlighting the importance of code-switching in facilitating teaching and learning, this study explores teachers’ attitudes and students’ language preferences in classes where code-switching is employed. A mixed-method approach was adopted, involving four teachers and fifty students who participated in questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal that teachers recognise the value of code-switching in enhancing student understanding, participation, and teaching methods. Quantitative results show that 60% of students are flexible with code-switching, while 90% prefer increased use of English in class. The study’s findings contribute to understanding how code-switching can effectively be utilised in English language teaching practices in multilingual settings, highlighting the need for a balanced approach that promotes linguistic flexibility and English language proficiency. The implications of this study can inform teaching practices and policies in similar multilingual contexts, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of English language instruction.

Abstract

This qualitative comparative literature study investigates the lexical evolution driven by artificial intelligence (AI) technologies within English and Indonesian linguistic contexts. Focusing on AI-related vocabulary, such as machine learning, prompts, and fine-tuning, the research critically analyses how these terms emerge, adapt, and shift semantically across both languages. English, identified as a global language, serves predominantly as a lexical innovator and supplier of new technological terms. In contrast, Indonesian demonstrates dynamic lexical negotiation through processes of borrowing, semantic adjustment, and selective localisation. The analysis highlights that these linguistic responses reflect deeper cultural, ideological, and social considerations, wherein borrowed terms often undergo subtle semantic shifts influenced by local perceptions of technology and digital interactions. The study explores hybrid linguistic practices that have arisen, particularly in digital communication, reflecting users’ strategic linguistic choices rooted in cultural identity, technological authority, and social contexts. This hybridity highlights the complexities of language use in the digital age, reflecting the negotiations between global integration and cultural authenticity. This research sheds light on broader implications regarding globalisation, linguistic sustainability, and sociocultural identity, suggesting that future research should further investigate empirical data to enhance our understanding of how communities actively navigate linguistic changes amid technological advancements.

Abstract

This research explores the intrinsic elements of Mary Shelley's Victor Frankenstein, with a primary focus on the characterization of the dominant character. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method, the study investigates how Victor Frankenstein's psychological and moral development shapes the narrative and reflects the novel's broader themes of ambition, isolation, and scientific responsibility. The analysis reveals that Victor is a complex, round character whose tragic downfall stems from a failure to assume responsibility for his creation. Additionally, the study examines the symbolic significance of the novel's settings, the narrative structure, and the ethical implications of unchecked scientific pursuit. By understanding these intrinsic elements, particularly characterization, readers can develop a deeper appreciation for the literary and philosophical dimensions of the novel. This research contributes to literary pedagogy by demonstrating how classical texts, such as Frankenstein, remain relevant in discussions about ethics, technology, and humanity.

Abstract

The research aims to describe the forms of causative verbs and their markers in the Japanese and Indonesian languages; causative sentences and their meanings in the Japanese and Indonesian languages, as well as the similarities and differences of causative constructions in the Japanese and Indonesian languages. The research applies structural linguistics, semantics, and contrastive analysis to compare causative verbs, causative constructions, and causative meanings in Japanese and Indonesian languages. The research findings show that the forms of causative verbs in the Japanese language can be divided into two types: morphological causative and lexical causative. Meanwhile, Indonesian causative verbs are categorised into three types: analytic causative, morphological causative, and lexical causative. The causative sentence constructions in Japanese and Indonesian are derived from non-causative sentences by changing the predicate into a causative verb. The Japanese morphological causative construction can be divided into three patterns: subject ga direct object ni V-aseru/V-saseru and subject ga direct object o V-aseru/V-saseru for intransitive bases, as well as subject ga nondirect object ni direct object o V-aseru/V-saseru for transitive bases—lexical causative construction in Japanese, subject ga direct object o causative verb. Unlike the Japanese language, the causative sentence constructions in Indonesian take three types: analytic causative pattern, morphological causative, and lexical patterns.
