Abstract

Hypertension is a health problem that is often found in society with a prevalence in Indonesia of 30.8%, is one of the non-communicable diseases (NCDs) that are still a health problem in Indonesia because of their contribution to cardiovascular disease as a contributor to morbidity and mortality in society. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age, gender and obesity status with the incidence of hypertension, through a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted on 219 respondents using a total sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed univariately and bivariately. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the percentage of hypertension was 18.72% and the percentage of obesity was 40.2%. The results of the bivariate analysis using the Chi square test produced a significance level of p-value of 0.000 (significant) between age and obesity with a PR value of 3.47 (CI 1.22-9.87) for the age group above 54 years, and a PR value of 2.66 (CI 1.21-5.81) for the age group 46-54 years (with the age group 18-45 years as a reference). The results of the bivariate analysis using the Chi square test between gender and obesity produced a p-value of 0.0040 with a PR of 0.45. The results of the chi square test between obesity and hypertension were proven to be statistically significant with a PR of 1.90, meaning that respondents with obesity had a 1.9 times greater risk of suffering from hypertension than people without hypertension.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS poses a considerable public health challenge on a global scale, and Indonesia is no exception. The HIV virus can be transmitted through several pathways, including mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding, as well as through unprotected sexual intercourse and the use of non-sterile medical equipment. Studies have shown that delivering a baby via caesarean section can lower the risk of HIV transmission compared to vaginal delivery. Additionally, breastfeeding from HIV-positive mothers may heighten the chances of passing the virus to their infants, particularly under certain conditions. To reduce the risk of HIV transmission, preventive measures such as antiretroviral therapy (ARV) are vital, especially for serodiscordant couples—those in which one partner is HIV-positive while the other is not. Furthermore, social support and counseling play critical roles in encouraging adherence to treatment regimens among patients. This research aims to deepen our understanding of HIV transmission and to investigate effective preventive strategies that can significantly lower the risk of infection.

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2020, the number of maternal mortality rates (MMR) in Indonesia is still quite high, totaling 4,627 cases of maternal death. This number shows an increase compared to 2019 of 4,221 cases of maternal death (Indonesian Health Profile, 2021). Objective: To apply the theory that has been obtained at the academy with comprehensive midwifery care for pregnant women, laboring women, postpartum women, newborns, and family planning in practice using Varney and SOAP documentation, is there a gap between theory and practice. Results: At the first pregnancy obstetric care visit, there was a problem of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CHD) where LiLA was 22.5 cm and also breech location. After being given counseling about high calorie balanced nutrition there was an increase in the size of LiLA by 2, 5 cm so that the mother did not experience SEZ. In the process of childbirth was done by Sectio Caesarea. In the postpartum period there was no complication in the postpartum period. Newborn was normal, no problems. In family planning, Mrs. M chose to use a 3-year family planning implant. Conclusion: During the assistance to Mrs. M, the health problems experienced by Mrs. M, especially the incidence of SEZ in pregnant women can be resolved, and there is a gap between theory and practice related to the size of LiLA and the height of the mother.

Abstract

Physical activity is one of the factors that affect the nutritional status of adolescents. Lack of physical activity will lead to excess weight. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between physical activity and nutritional status of eleventh grade students in high school in Palembang. This quantitative research uses a cross-sectional research design with a sample of 91 students. Physical activity was measured using the Adolescent-Physical Activity Questionnaire (PAQ-A). The nutritional status used is based on BMI/age. The correlation analysis used was Kendall's tau-b. Univariate results were obtained by the majority of students with low physical activity (f=40) and normal nutritional status (f=60). Based on the results of the correlation test, a p-value of 0.004 < 0.05 was obtained, which means that there is a significant relationship between physical activity and nutritional status based on BMI/U. With a correlation coefficient of 0.276, which means that the correlation strength is low with positive traits. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that adolescents do enough physical activity to maintain physical fitness and health as well as normal nutritional status.
