Abstract

This article is entitled Translating “Persahabatan” from Indonesian Into English (A Wattpad Short Story by Ika Ayu Rahmawati). The “Persahabatan” short story is a teen fiction story published on the Wattpad app in 2020. This short story has been read by more than 24,000 users and voted about 301 times. The purposes of translating “Persahabatan” short story into English are to translate it from Indonesian into English, explain the process and the technique in the translation, and describe the difficulties and giving the solutions in the translation. This Wattpad short story is interesting to be translated in order to be found by Wattpad users from other countries and increase readers globally.

Abstract

This article is the activities collected Indonesian transcript data from the web comic "Jajan Squad" which is translated into English as primary data obtained by reading from Webtoon Application. The "Jajan Squad" webcomic is a slice of life genre published on the Webtoon application in 2017. 'Jajan Squad' is among the top 25 most favourite webtoon comic based on the most loves and readers. The purposes of translating 'Jajan Squad' Webcomic is to translate the web comic from Indonesian into English, explain the process and techniques in translation, explain the obstacles during translation, and explain the solutions to overcome obstacles in translation. There are 11 translation technique (out of 18) used from Molina and Albir. The literal technique is most frequently used in webcomic translation, because there are many sentences that are translated word by word. The conclusion is that this job training report was conducted according to the translation process and only used 11 translation techniques (out of 18).

Abstract

This final project report is entitled ‘Translating “Tentang” Menu of Melung Village Website.’ This text was chosen to translate because it is informative and useful for readers, especially for foreigners who need information about the village using English language. This text explains the history, region, and institutions of Melung Village. The purposes of this internship are to translate the text and apply the knowledge of translation acquired during the course of study. The translation process was carried out from May to June 2023. There were three stages in translating these texts: analysis stage, transfer stage, and restructuring stage. In the first stage, the translator reads the entire transcript and capture the message in “Tentang” menu text. The transfer stage is carried out on the brain to transfer text from source language text to target language text. In the third stage, the text that has been processed in the first stage and second stage is rewritten until it became acceptable in the “Tentang” menu text. During the translation process of the “Tentang” menu text of the Melung Village website, the writer encountered several obstacles. The obstacles were finding the right diction in the target language to convey messages from the source language, searching and finding the equivalent word in the target language, and applying and editing the translation result into the website. The solutions to overcome the obstacles were searching information about the text in the source language, giving the description for the word was translated, and collaborating with the website management to edit and apply result of the translation on the website.

Abstract

The job training, at Cilacap Class I Immigration Office, Central Java, wascarried out from April 3rd, 2023 to May 3rd, 2023. The main task was producinga guiding video of "Visa on Arrival Extension in One Day Service" The videowas made in English to make it easier for foreigners to understand. Furthermore,another task was assisting the Immigration Information Technology Division inthe development of infographics regarding immigration services, intended forpublication on the social media platforms of Cilacap Class I Immigration Office.The process of creating a guiding video included planning, script writing,shooting, and post production editing. The guiding video was reviewed andrevised before being approved for publication on Cilacap Immigration Office'ssocial media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. It aims toprovide information and assistance to foreigners in the process of Visa on ArrivalExtension in One Day Service, and improve the services provided by the CilacapClass I Immigration Office.Obstacles encountered during the job training and production of the guidingvideo encompassed miscommunication, incongruity of creative visions, adverseweather conditions, and the presence of a large number of visitors at CilacapImmigration Office. Solutions were implemented such as comprehensivemeetings for mutual understanding, discussing creative visions in detail,checking the weather forecast, and scheduling shooting out of peak hours.Key words: Immigration, Visa on Arrival Extension, Tourism, Guiding Video.

Abstract

Elsotel Purwokerto has uploaded lots of interesting promotional content on Instagram and Facebook. It was found that Elsotel Purwokerto does not yet have a promotional video to properly introduce their hotel, such as explaining what types of rooms are available, facilities, restaurants, parking areas and the ambience. Therefore the writer makes a promotional video that explains the contents of Elsotel Purwokerto in more detail and more properly. This can help Elsotel Purwokerto to provide information to tourists who want to stay at Elsotel Purwokerto with more detailed information through the videos that have been made. Even though it has several obstacles such as unfriendly weather or too crowded people, the writer can overcome all of these
