Abstract

Abstract. Genetic diversity information of Gobiidae is needed as a basis for management of its culture or conservation efforts. Mean while, the stability development of the paired organs in animals is closely related to the level of their genetic diversity. In this regard, a study has been conducted to determine of bilateral symmetry characteristics of marble gobies from Jenderal Soedirman reservoir of Banjarnegara and Rawapening Swamp of Salatiga. A survey method was used with purposive sampling technique. The observed variables were abnormalities and meristic bilateral characters. The characters including the number of soft rays on pectoral fins and pelvic fins, and the number of scales on lateral lines. The results showed that both marble gobies from Jenderal Soedirman Reservoir and Rawapening Swamp did not show abnormalities. However, their bilateral meristic characters had been fluctuated, especially for pectoral fins and lateral lines; whereas pelvic fins seem to be symmetry. According to their observed bilateral symmetry characters, in general, it could be concluded that marble gobies from Jenderal Soedirman Reservoir had a better genetic diversity compare to those from Rawapening Swamp. Therefore, it can be used as local genetic resources.Key words. Bilateral symmetry character, marbel gobies, Jenderal Soedirman Reservoirs, Rawa pening Swamp

Abstract

Abstract. Primary production in freshwater can be observed with the existing of aquatic plants includes micro and macrophyte. The study of aquatic plant is necessary due to the plant has important in aquatic environments, such as providing habitat, spawning ground, feeding ground, and nursery ground for aquatic biota. This study was conducted in June 2012, and the purposes were to identify species of aquatic plants and their percent cover in Lake Laut Tawar, Takengon. Sampling were conducted using quadrate transects of 0.5 x 0.5 m2, and the every transect was divided into 25 sampling points. A total of 10 species of aquatic plants were found and there were divided into four groups based on their morpho-ecology i.e. emergent, free floating, free submerged and rooted with floating leaves. Of these, emergent group was the most predominant (six species), followed by free floating (two species), free submerged (one species), and rooted with floating leave (one species). Hydrilla verticillata (free submerged group) and Eichhornia crassipes (free floating group) had the highest percent covers and density.

Abstract

Abstract. Fuel is one of important components in fishing activity. The objectives of this research were to analyze the need and the receiver of fuel subsidy in Aceh Besar t as well as to analyze the problems that faced by fisherman in Aceh Besar district. The survey was done on June-August 2012 in five sub-district in Aceh Besar namely: (1) Baitussalam, (2) Mesjid Raya, (3) Leupung (4) Lhoknga dan (5) Mesjid Raya. The result shown that the average cost of one trip of fishing activities in Aceh Besar were Rp700.000. The lowest operational cost was found in Seulimum (Rp96.200 per trip) and the highest was found in Baitussalam sub-district (Rp1, 793,710 per trip). Fuel was the biggest cost for fishing activity; it was ranged 40%-73% with average 57.9%. The lowest proportion of fuel consumption was found in Baitussalam sub-district and the highest was found in Lhoknga sub-district. In average, the fisherman’s fuel consumption was 1,237L. per month; with total subsidy was Rp 5,824,737 per fisherman per month. The profit will be decreased up to 89.5% if there was no fuel subsidy. In addition, the result also shown that the fisherman in Aceh Besar did not have any skill to generate their alternative income. As the consequence, in the future there is a need to develop programs to generate the alternative livelihood for Aceh Besar fisherman as well as their family.Keywords. Abstract

Abstract. A study of HBV hydrological model in Peusangan watershed Aceh as a preface study to the development of sustainable ecohydrological concept was done. The objective of the study was to apply and to test the HBV subtropical model into a tropical region Peusangan watershed. Peusangan watershed, situated in northern Aceh, covers an area of 2268.39 km2 and 128 km in length. The HBV model was manually calibrated by trial adjustment of each parameter to obtain the appropriate physical characteristics of Peusangan watershed. The result showed that the model was nearly consistent with the observation data. In fact, the correlation and error bias of the model were 0.623 and 0.11, respectively. However, the weakness of the model reported in the study is due to the coverage of the weather station data whi ch locate far in the downstream of Peusangan watershed. In the meantime, both of model result and observation showed a good agreement to catch the peakflow of Peusangan watershed. The two peakflow arise on May and October which were 212 m3dt-1 and 250 m3dt-1, respectively.Keywords. HBV Hydrological model, Peusangan watershed, peakflow
