Burman (Thesaurus zeylanicus, 1737) depicted on tab. 79 Nux Moschata, spuria, sylvestris, Caryophylli arboris, oppositis, Nobis.The plate depicts a sterile branch with conspicuous, stalked, perulateleaf buds. The local name is given as Iryaghedhi (cited from Mus. Zeyl.,p. 58). Linnaeus edumerated the species in Fl. Zeyl., p. 590 under "Barbarae Annihilatae".

Abstract

Reinwardtia 13(2): 171-181. - The conservative family concept has been adopted on the Malesian Seed Plants Families I - III to show the visible characters to help identify specimen herbarium of the Malesian Plants. During a new classification of orders and families of flowering plants based on the molecular data has been leaded, some changes in family delimitation have occurred. By providing this family survey, the users of Malesian Seed Plants book can place their taxa in the correct family.

Abstract

Morphological, anatomical, geographical and ecological data were utilized in a systematic study of the grass- genus Cymbopogon. The genus is largely confined to the Old World tropics and subtropics; C. densiflorus has become naturalized in the New World (Brazil) and C. refractus in the Pacific Islands. A taxonomicaccount is presented in which 55 species are recognized and placed in 5 series which have definite geographical distribution: ser. Cymbopogon (from West Africa to India), ser. Rusae (from Africa to Indo-China), ser. Citrati (Africa, Asia and Australia), ser. Proceri (Australia) and ser. Refracti (Australia). Ser. Proceri and ser. Refracti are described for the first time, as is C. goeringii var. hongkongensis. In this study three new combinations are proposed, one species is excluded from Cymbopogon, while two species and four varieties are considered of uncertain status because type material was not available. One natural hybrid between C. bombycinus and C. ambiguus is recognized. Full descriptions of species and key to the series and species are given. Two new chromosome counts of C. procerus and C. bombycinus were reported so that data are now available for 22 species, which are all on the polyploid series 2n = 20, 40, 60.

Abstract

 1. The present notes on Teijsmanniodendron are based on a study of the specimens from Herbarium Bogoriense and the Herbarium of the Singapore Botanic Garden. 2. The taxonomic value of the principal characters and their variation are discussed. Each of the species recognized is annotated.3. A delimitation and subdivision of the genus in two sections, 'Plurifoliolatae Kosterm.' and 'Unifoliolatae Kosterm.,' is proposed. 4. A key to the 12 species and 1 variety distinguished, is included. 5. One new species is provisionally described (but not named), and one new variety, Teijsmanniodendron pteropodum var. auriculatum Kosterm., is published. 6. The following new combinations are made: Teijsmanniodendron coriaceum B. Clarke) Kosterm., T. hollrungii (Warb.) Kosterm., T. holophyllum (Bak.) Kosterm., T.novoguineense (Kan. & Hatus.) Kosterm., T. sarawakanum (H. H. W. Pears.)Kosterm., T. smilacifolium (H. H. W. Pears.) Kosterm., and T. subspieatum (Hallier f.) Kosterm.7.. The genus Xerocarpa H. 3. Lam (non Spach) is rejected; its only species,X. avicenniaefoliola H. J. Lam, is referred to Teijsmanniodendron ahernianum (Merr.)Bakh. In addition, the following reductions are made: Teijsmanniodendron monophyllum Kurata = T. hollrungii (Warb.) Kosterm.; Vitex bankae H. J. Lam = T.ahernianum (Merr.) Bakh., V. bogoriensis H. J. Abstract

SEDAYU, A., SARASWATI, R. A. & ASTUTI, Y. P. 2022. Light preferences in two landscape managements and ontogenic light requirements of terrestrial ferns in Kebun Raya Baturraden, Central Java. Reinwardtia 21(1): 25–33. — Human management on landscapes influences environmental requirements including solar irradiation, which may affect fern establishment in different age classes. Two contrasting terrestrial fern communities were inspected in Kebun Raya Baturraden, Central Java; the first thrives among the garden (collection) area, representing the well managed area, and the latter living on the less managed area closest to a natural forest remnant. We found 78.7% species living exclusively in either landscape type; only 21% were shared on both, indicating a light preference among ferns and lycophytes. The four most common species (out of 32 fern and lycophyte species), Cyclosorus heterocarpus, Selaginella ornata, Nephrolepis biserrata, and Sphaerostephanos arbuscula in three different age classes and under gradient canopy openness were surveyed. Statistical test on the canopy openness of individuals of S. ornata and N. biserrata showed that three age categories used significantly different canopy openness, which is not the case for C. heterocarpus and S. arbuscula. It showed that some ferns and lycophytes ontogenically have gradual requirements on light exposure, while others are able to live in wide range of light exposure. This implies that in terms of wild species management, including ferns, the Baturraden gardens landscape management must be directed toward the ecological understanding of species of interest for Botanical Gardens and conservation

Abstract

The genus consists of 8 species in Siam, Indochina, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, and the Lesser Sunda Islands. It is here divided into 2 subgenera, the monotypic Schoutevia with S. cvata Korth. and Chartacalyx with S. accrescens (Mast.) Curtis as type species. Chartacalyx is divided into 2 sections, Chartacalyx and A disci flora with S. kuiistleri King as type spscies.Three species, S. curtisii, corneri, and kostermansii are considered new. S. hypoleuca Pierre is reduced to synonymy of S. ovata Korth.S. peregrines Craib is reduced to a subspecies of S. glomerata King.The varieties of S. accrescens (Mast.) Curtis are deleted. The species is divided into 3 subspecies: accrescens, stellata, and borneensis. A forma lepidota is reeognized for subspecies accrescens.S. buurmanii K. et V. and S. kunstleri King- are considered to be different species.
